I know plenty of roleplayers that were great at pvp. You should see how mad a 'hardcore' pvp'er gets when they're thrashed by a role-player. As if role-playing means the player does nothing else in the game besides roleplay. And, in Warhammer, wouldn't role-playing = bashing your face in, as you so eloquently put it? I mean, it is war after all.

Basically what I tried to explain to him but to no avail lol.
Example:
Roleplaying: "I am the high priest of the Emperor! You filthy orcs are intruding on his majesty's sovereign land. We shall purge the evil from your very flesh! For order, for light, FOR THE EMPEROR!"
That is one example pertaining to order, here is another for orcs...
"I'm da biggest baddest choppa der is! What's better den one choppa? TWO choppas!! Da more choppas da better! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!"
Here is an example of a carebear...
"Zomg, that guy must be cheating because he just came in and killed us all..." or... "lol, nub has to go back and get allies to kill us....can't take us with even numbers" or... "pfft, you rolled easy mode class by choosing (Insert class here) and they have superior (insert bullshit whiney reason #1) , (bullshit whiney reason #2), and/or (bullshit whiney reason #3).
In conclusion...
For those of you who were discussing this....please take not...there are NO similarities...they are very easy to distinguish....in short...roleplaying is when someone plays along with the theme of their character where as being a carebear is where someone just whines and can't deal with situations (Usually pertaining to PvP, though there are a few PvE situations...albeit rare....only one that really comes to mind is the Guild Wars-Ascension Mission).

I know this role player, he also does cos play and Larps.... total care bear right?
WRONG!!!
He happens to be a third degree black belt and security guard for a bank.
And is insane about PVP,, he lives and breaths guild wars. Role play does not automaticallly mean care bear.
Heck most Care bears i know are not care bears. Its a term thats come to mean anybody who you just don't believe to be hard core..

I DO disagree with your tagline - and I have as much right to express my opinion of it; as you have to express it...
But yes; I regret what i believe to be the case: that mmo's being for an audience that actually likes to roleplay...

A little satire should offend no one - except maybe; perhaps, the 'mainstream' I was satirizing.
I'm not sure why 'roleplaying' would have been confused with 'carebears' anyway ( I must have been using that term incorrectly up 'til now) - but if you've read any of my other stuff; i'm not sure that too many games have any roleplaying elements anyway.
"Character advancement" is confused for RPG; often by the same Hack N Slash; loot N Level style of gamers I was actually satyrizing.
the majority of the current mmo community started with WoW as their primary game. you really cant be a rvr minded person comming from wow, its just a "carebear" game. the thing thats called pvp in wow is called pve in warhammer online. beating eachother senseless for no reward day after day is pvp, using items to beat other groups for rewards is pve. thats just my opinion.
It will be fun to beat up on pve minded people for the first 7-8 months until they become adjested. It looks like I will be rolled into the Order side. Heres my current theory. All of the hardcore pvp types will play Destruction.... and all of the random people will play order. So I want to get the best rivals that I can, so I will play order. It will be like playing as a Hib in DAoC when all the best groups were mids.

I am volunteering right now to beat up on PvE-minded people for the first 7-8 months until they become "adjusted."
I think I will be very good at "adjusting" them.
