in Dark Age of Camelot

....you just might not see any familiar faces but Oh my!! How things have changed!!

 

But are the changes for the better?? I'm curious, ya see. I just reopened my account last night because I had a horrible feeling of homesickness overpower me as I looked over all of my past and current MMO subscriptions.

My questions:

Are Hibs still the "kick-me" realm out of all 3? Particulary on Bedevere, that's where my 50Druid is, as well as my alts and two other accounts.

For PvE, where is the better exp now? Classic, SI, Catacombs or LotM? I havent done -anything- with the latest expansion, and not so sure as to where to begin.

Player base and population....where are ya'll hiding at these days?? A quick run through TNN showed no sign of life other than the npcs.

What's the most popular BG and RvR?

I'll stop now. The rest of my questions I can answer by trolling a few info-sites for what I need.

    I only played on the Classic servers, but I assume with the /level 20 command on the rest, Thidranki is still one of the most populated Battlegrounds.

    Of course, I could be completely wrong, I haven't played since December.

    Most people play on the classic servers which are all clustered now. Thid and Molvik are the most popular BGs. All classic zones have seen a xp boost in the past year or so. Right now there is 200% xp bonus in RvR zones. This means the most xp is in the BGs and NF. I'm not sure but the RvR dungeons might get the xp bonus too.

    Most people play on the classic servers, with Gareth being the most populated.  A year or so ago when I used to play Hibs were on top but now from what I've been experiencing its mostly balanced with Mids actually being more in power, which is great considering thats what I play.  The most popular BG's as people have said are Thidranki and Molvik.  Classic zones and BG's are actually receiving bonus exp right now so they are the best place to level. Hope this helps.

    If you do quests then Cats it the best expansion for XP.  If all you want to do is kill, then the Classic areas is the best XP becauase there is a huge bonus for killing there now.

     

    As for Hib, I am not sure.  If the herald is correct, Hib has 4 of the relics right now . . .

    This is one game I miss and would consider going back too if I didn't hate all the crummy changes from the expansions.   I considered starting up on a classic server but just didn't feel like starting over again.  Now my 50 paladin collects dust with my 50 Cabalist and infiltrator.

    I've been debating going back to this game myself. Main reason I left was to try the new and improved games it seemed like the rest of the community was flocking to and was pretty disappointed. After returning once it was hard to get back into the groove knowing how things used to be. I tried some more games and after a year or so still have found nothing that can hook me like daoc used to. Mainly it was the free roaming pvp, battlegrounds (noninstanced/siege much better than CTF instances imo) and the overall "sandbox" feel I suppose. I hate time limits on siege events so no more ninja relics or things of that matter in these new upcoming games (AoC)

    So with even the future games looking to be more letdowns, i'm thinking of dusting off DAoC once more. Starting brand new, alone and finding some new people to hang out with instead of trying to get old friends to play again with me might help also.

     

    Edit - Also I find it really nice that they listen to the community. Lots of people were unhappy with ToA and the effects it had on RvR so they effectivly made servers without the expansion on them. I haven't looked into it but I don't think i've seen any other game do that. If anyone it'd be SWG. I'm sure tons of the old players would return if it was pre-CU again. Anyway... just a thought.

    I came back to DAOC and I had a great time. It was so different and I had been gone for so long, it was like playing a new game again.
