Hi all
I'm an old player of the game and would go back if it supported windows vista. I have briefly read the Horizons forums but I'm not one for tweaking game files, that’s not what pay monthly sub for. So until they fix the vista issues they won't be getting my £ each month.
And no I'm going to install XP - Pro I'm to lazy
Just my thoughts.

Isn't Horizons free since it.. ya know, sucks?
And no, it's not free. There is however a 14-day free trial which I suggest you try.
Try this. Right click the start up icon, Click properties, there should be one option to run in XP. I have had to do that with a couple games on my laptop. I think there is an option to operate as administrator too. Sorry Im not to clear. I dont have the laptop with me at the moment. Maybe a Vista user can give the exact strokes.
Does horizens have a trial account. Many MMORPGs do. If so, seems easy to trial install and see how it works.

Yes, there is a 14-day free trial at www.istaria.com. If you choose to play on the Order server, feel free to send me a message. I'm not good at role-playing, but I like to do it anyways.
Unfortunately, Horizon's doesn't work properly under Windows Vista. There is a known compatibility problem with a recent VC runtime service pack. So, if you have an original release of Vista and never update it, Horizon's will run. However, if you install all the latest Windows Updates, it will run until you reboot when it will use the new version of the VC runtime and fail to start.
There are several threads on the Horizon's community forum. After hearing about the new company taking over, I think this will be one of the first priorities. Mainly because it is next to impossible today to buy a new PC without Vista unless you build it yourself or reformat the computer.
I am sure that if you follow the hacks described in the community forums, one will work with the 32-bit version of Vista. However, I haven't had any luck with the 64-bit version. For now, I just have an dual boot for WinXP and Vista 64.

the game is vastly different after level 20. Your experience and opinion may change.
