World of Starcraft - not a joke?

Forgive me if it's old, but I just looked into it. I heard from someone else on the Gamespot forums that the information was released in early April (April Fool's?), but this article says May.
Is this a joke, or not? A few days ago I heard someone on this forum saying that Blizzard's working on another MMORPG. I suggested that it could be Diablo III, but the person disagreed for one reason or another. So, if indeed they're working on a Starcraft MMORPG, this pleases me almost as much as Warhammer Online. My friend and a couple other people I know thought it was a stupid idea (when I joked about a World of Starcraft before), but I would KILL to run around as a Zergling or Hydralisk. KILL.

you would think that the MMO in the works would be in the Diablo universe rather than the Starcraft one since Diablo is originally a RPG
What they unveiled earlier this year was Starcraft 2, not a Starcraft MMO. The unknown MMO project is still unknown. Although WoW came out not long after WC3, so who knows speculate all you want, Blizzard isn't gonna tell us a thing yet.
They have said that they are working on a new MMO, and if its not a brand new title I'm pretty confident that it will be in the Starcraft universe. WoW has alot of Diablo in it so i highly doubt it will be based in the diablo universe.

No, they annonced StarCraft 2 at the event and at the time said there were no plans for a starcraft mmo
Those artictles were dated may of this year. World of Starcraft was Not announced. It probobly was Starcraft 2.

it was only Starcraft 2...which isnt an mmo, so thier unknown mmo is still an unknown at this point.
sigh I wish it were Diablo universe but the sequel would just be a watered down, uninspired MMO. I wish Diablo 3 multiplayer RPG was in the works instead. please dont let it be an MMO
Well regardless I think it would be killer as hell to play Zerg in an MMORPG.
The World of Starcraft thing at Gamespot was April 1st last year.
The articles you're linking referrs to the speculations before this year's Blizz event in may. As we all know, the game revealed there was Starcraft2.
So..there's is still no word about what MMO Blizzard is working on. Even i i believe it is, in fat World of Startcraft.

They said it was a new IP and not based on any other IP they have right now so I doubt it's Starcraft.

I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.
I concur with the above posts, what they believed to be a Starcraft MMO turned out to be SCII.
All we know so far is the code name of the project: Project Hydra.
maybe they make the starcraft II to make people remember the game and bring more people to be fans, so they could make a mmorpg to a lot of fans and put new features that didnt have on the first game but will have on this one

Blizz announced the development of Startcraft 2 which will be a RTS game. I don't like WoW but Blizz is a great marketer so I predict they will first build up their player base for Starcraft 2 RTS which will pave the way to World of Starcraft just as Warcraft RTS series lead to World of Warcraft.
