Brilliant developers... good for them for gettin away from a LOT of the cookie cutter bs that' has become the standard for MMO's

agree 100%!! I love the ideas of this game, the art style, everything about this game is new and refreshing. I can't believe how underated it is, I can't wait for this game, I check this site daily just for new updates on this game alone.
I have been watching the advances in this game for years now. TCoS is looking more and more promising as it approaches release. This seems to be the most origional game in development right now.
The video from the german game show really impressed me. I've always liked some of the ideas behind the game but to see them in action... I like the real aiming , the armor, the art.... this game may suprise alot of people.
Like my mum always said, "You can't eat from a goodlooking table"
I agree that the ideas are brilliant, and that it's good to see they try something (a lot actually) new .... but if it feels right we still have to experience ...
Don't get me wrong though ... i'm pretty confident it will
Its one of my favourites...i'll probably will be playing for a very long time, the first that really hooks me from this list.
TCoS
Gods and Heroes
AoC
Hellgate London
Warhammer online
In no particual order, i'll buy them one after another and decide to stick or not to stick after the free month... If i decide to stick i'll stick for many years. (((Maybe i'll buy Hellgate anyway as a backup game)))
Currently playing
EQ2 and Vanguard.
Burned out on:
EQ, DAoC, Diablo2, Horizons, Asherons call (beta), Horizons(free month) FFXI, Lineage2 (beta) LOTRO (free month) WoW, Guildwars.
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
Spellborn is at the top of my list right now. I was following it along with some other games, but the more I heard about Spellborn, the more I liked it; and the more I heard about the other games, the less I cared. Its beautiful artwork, lore and original gameplay mechanics have me sold, and I really can't wait to play it.
Completely agreed. I was a hardcore WAR fan until I learned about Spellborn. It just seems like a fresh start.
Spellborn is possibly THE game that a lot of Old-time MMOers need to get that fresh feeling again.

Maybe they should just take a bath to get that fresh feeling again.

I agree totally. The developers of TCoS are going out of their way to create an innovative game and in my opinion they are doing great work. They are not afraid to break traditions, that's for sure...
And even more, they are giving tons of information, even about things I hadn't ever thought about, like the choice for music and how a level is created. It's not as easy as is sounds and I love seeing how they are working. Although not as much as I'd LOVE to be able to really play the game!
I CANNOT WAIT for this game!! I'm so excited for it. I like that they're taking the genre in a fresh direction. After reading most of the updcoming games, only TCOS and Stargate Worlds strike me as something new and inventive. I'll buy both of them for sure, and see how the others look after they've been out for a while before gettng into any others.
... just counting down the days before Chronicles is released...
I certainly hope so. It feels like forever since I've had any considerable desire for a game release. TCOS is at the top of my list. The magnificent artwork and overall style appeals heavily to this female gamer and I'm certain there are others like me being drawn by it. Hopefully far far away from nasty population-unworthy games like wow
I really hope the best for this game, the only one with a total original design.
hope it'll not end up like SoR... originality and uniqueness does not match with the bland idiocracy of actual games dev and general public...
This game is going to really surprise people, I think. While it does face a lot of competition, there are things about the game that really set it apart, starting with its gorgeous art style. It's my most anticipated MMO right now.
It is my hope that truly this group of devs does this thing right. Let's also hope they don't run out of development funding. With the on-set of 2008 on the horizon, we'll see what we haven't seen since the battle of console gaming developers back in the late 90's. So many games released and so many high expectations, which in my humble opinion may come crashing down. We will see what we will see next year.
TCoS has been wise and prudent up to now about releasing too much information about their upcoming game. I hope that they don't get caught up in the rush to make it too soon. If they do, then obviously we have a money crunch, much like we saw at Sigil.
Live long and prosper, TCoS...may Spellborn be all it's cracked up to be!

Just gimme some truth

I wouldn't say its the best game in development, but it certainly looks like its trying to be different. I like the look of the combat system, and the change in the way armor works. Art style is nice as well, shows you don't need top of the range graphics to make a game look good.
Well, since best game is a very subjective notion anyway, we might as well call The Chronicles of Spellborn the best mmorpg ever.
Innovative games are rare these days, I hope Spellborn will do fine to break out suppressed ideas.
After reading this I'm going to re-activate my old beta account, at first I didn't think much of it in all honesty, but looking at it closer they have made some quite good improvements to the game, before their 'twitch based' combat was nothing more than the NGE click fest auto-lock really, this should turn out interesting.
Quoting people doesn't make you clever, in fact, it makes you all the more stupid for not bothering to read the quotes you post in the first place.
I am SO freekin' ready for this game...
Hope they are ready to launch q4. Since there is little noise around this game generally I would bet on a delay. Maybe they even release after AoC and Warhammer to pick up the crowd of "played it, did not like it" that will be.
Well, they are certainly aiming at Q4 2007, but it would not be the first game that has to push forward the release date. It is for this reason that they don't give an exact date. Game development is not an exact science. Problems are always unexpected. Only when they are certain the game is ready for open beta they will make their announcement. However, they have said many times that they are not timing, nor are they going to time, the release date depending on the competetion, which makes perfect sense, because the competition faces the same uncertainties as SIL does.
The game has allready been pushed from an early 2007 release to an Q4 2007 release.
But... MMO developers have learned from the initial failure of EQ2 ,Vanguard, Horizons and a bunch of others where the game was released when it was not ready yet for release. The success of WoW and of LOTRO depends on the fact of a flawless game experience from the start ((If you forget about the WoW networking/lag problems at release, they where due to externall factors tough))
A game ain't ready for release untill its done, you can't afford to repaor a broken game after release as after release you need to concentrate on new content.
I think Spellborn developers know this, and even their investors realise this by now.

That was the third delay already. It had little to do with the game being not polished enough. But when they showed their product on the Leipzig GC of 2006, they got a lot of positive feedback telling them the game had great potential. This made them realise that potential was not enough (remember, Vanguard had not happened yet). They decided to insert more of the content planned for the future into the game before releasing it.
Agreed! I am anxious for this game and what it has to offer, but am happy to wait longer if it means getting it right.
