Any idea about the required specs?

I have a kinda old compaq laptop, with 2.3 Ghz, a bit more than 1G RAM, and a 128 ATI Radeon Xpress 200M video card. I can play wow fairly well, with a bit of lag in the Outlands (sometimes FPS drops to less than 10 in Shattrah) though (with video settings in the average). Any idea if I'll be able to run this game? I need to know so as to plan if I'll need to buy a new computer =p

You may be able to run it on lowest, with all the effects turned off

    Played almost everything...
    Currently playing nothing...
Waiting for: Darkfall, WAR, Guild Wars 2.

What would be the issue? Video card is too sucky?

Yes, that is the main problem.

I actually have a laptop very similar to yours (though I game on my desktop, which is powerful) with the same graphics, and I have found I can run WoW, too, albeit on mediumish settings.

The thing is, WAR looks like it has vastly superior graphics and so I am not sure how well a machine that can only play WoW so-so will fare with it. If it runs decently on low settings I'd be surprised, to be honest.

The RAM is also a bit on the weak side, but the video card is definitely going to be the biggest problem.

My friend has a similar spec'd laptop to yours, and the WAR client wouldn't load up on his computer LOL!

If you can run WoW, you should be able to run WAR since EAMythic have essentially replicated the same graphics.

Man, I just deleted my entire post by accident...stupid work keyboards.

Anyway, If your laptop has some issues running Wow, you might run a bit laggier on WAR, but you may still be able to run it.

While WAR and WoW have similar art styles, I'd expect the renovations on WAR to be a bit more up to date than WoW. Mythic has good experience with having many players on screen at the same time, and should put the ability to scale down spell effects, shadows etc on their engine.

You may be able to run it, though I would suggest upgrading your vid card if you can, and possibly adding more RAM if your motherboard can handle anymore.

Two main factors pertaining to the speed at which you will load your graphics is not only your Video Card but your Video Card's RAM.  512 is nice but I'd at least shoot for a 256 ( that's what I have right now).  Make sure your RAM for your MoBo has a comptatible speed with your MoBo (Not really a major issue for laptops but for desktops it can be).  And lastly make sure your MoBo isn't a piece of shit and is comptatible with your Vid Card....(that's my problem....i got a shitty (756?) Pin slot MoBo because it had an AGP slot...the CPU is nice ....its an Athalon 64 2.0 Ghz rated at 3.0.)

Ideally you should shoot for these specs:

CPU Speed: 2.6-3.5 Ghz or Dual-Core Processors  (Should be lower then $160.00)

Vid Card:  Nvidia 7600 or higher with at least 256 MB of Vid Card RAM (Should be lower then $120.00) Note: I know there are some ATI lovers out there, and ATI has wonderful colors with thier graphics cards...but Nvidia I've found is built slightly better for slight increases in frames per second.

RAM: 1.5-3 Gigs of RAM...you shouldn't need more then 2 Gigs but 3-4 will make sure you won't need RAM for YEARS to come (let's hope )

I'm no expert by any means but those specs should serve you fairly well. The low end will last you ...maybe 2 years tops.  High end stuff will last a little longer but as always is more expensive.

If I may suggest as well...one thing I've noticed...DON'T get a MoBO with an integrated graphics card....they just cause too many problems in my experience.

I'll be here all week, you've been a lovely audience...make sure you tip your waitresses!

Oh yes, I can see your a real thinker and are not, I repeat, are not jumping on any bandwagon because that would be redicoulous.

It runs on Gamebryo...guess what other loverly games run on it? lets try...Oblivion...yeah wow. I know, shocking, its engine is actually much more powerful than WoW's. No, If you can barely run WoW, then you Won't be able to run WAR. I got accepted into beta and my laptop, which has slightly higher specs, can barely run it. Im in the middle of building a new Dx10 platform, hopefully none of my parts are DOA when they get here so I can at least hop along in beta.

I find it kinda funny, I find it kinda sad, The dreams in which I'm dieing are the best I've ever had.

Argh then I'll have to buy a new computer since you can't upgrade the processor/video card on a laptop as far as I know...or can you?

I guess adding ram will not be enough
