On a related note, a much more useful tool would be http://boneyard.student.utwente.nl/acpop/, which will give you the total pop of AC1 and AC2 over any weeks time (though the AC2 graphs are usually messed up).
i guess the point was that them old games are badly underplayed ;(, AC1 was a good one, and heck it makes you wonder for why AC2 never made high up on player numbers although it had potential
I don't find 700 people on a single server that bad. It's enough to keep the game fun and sociable. Though I know it's only two servers and the total overall population is weak.
Well I guess the point hes trying to make is, if AC2 has 1500 people on and DAoC has 29,900 playing right now, then thats one way of pointing fun of a game thats going down the tubes.
AC2 was a joke. Nothing like the first game. First game was original, fun, and innovative. Second one was a EQ/DAoC clone, and sucked. I mean it was horrid. The gave it a DAoC type combat system=Evil bad, and horrid. Press number, watch it go. Instead of the innovative powerbar, medium, high, low, AC1 combat.
The game had none of the same attributes. It was a mistake. A literal bastard child of a game.
Although numbers dont mean jack of the quality of the game.

ffxi had roughly around 4k people per server x that by 20 some servers and that's a lot of people

ehe ? why this funereal past tense ? game isn't dead yet , and ac2 may be arguable better than some MMos released after it.
First of all, this is only my humble opinion. I played AC2 last year for 4 months then left. Moves to AO for 3 months, then FFXI until L2 beta. In the meantime I played UO shards and Knight Online. After that I tried EVE. But now here I am... back in AC2. It's an awesome game, period. Try it, get to higher lvls and live it.

I gave AC2 nearly an year to bring its self back up. Looking back that was far to long. In AC2 I learned that i am not the patient type if its not fun out of the door i'll leave it I never fall again for comments like "wait until it develops" and so on.
I pay for fun if they can't deliver it I am not the one to pay them to finish a job which should have been done in the first case.
My god I hate my self falling for that crap logic ARGHH *gets really mad*.
Nice for you mate have fun.
Dont get me wrong I don't mind paying foward deveolpment of an game it just want I want but it has to start form somewhere not x months after release.

Asheron's Call 2 had a great potential... But it was actually a complete crap at the release... i played 2 month, then stopped for about a year... came back on a free trial then left again.
I played 1 month ( june ) and stopped again...
Problem with this game right now is the lack of player... when it willl reach at least 2000-3000 player per server on peak hours, things will become a lot better! but the increase of people is going way to slow... it will take ages before we reach a good amount of player.
And i'm still w8ting for those player houses and these kind of player shop!
At least they should add a nice shop system or sumthing... and do it asap
Anyone remember the nice screenshot from before release? I know I was looking at these cities and I was like... Wow.... I wanna be in it. And then I played..... cities are empty, there is just... nothing to do in it, no NPC, or nearly, no shop... no use...
Look in ANY MMORPG, any with actually some people on the server... people STAY in city, because it's the main spot to get everything u need + socialize... In Ac2 people are spreading a bit everywhere... near lifestone... damn, gets boring.
Turbine has to do something about the shop/trading system and the useless cities, or... this game might die.
I guess trolls will be trolls & fanboi's will be fanboi's.. I personally have been playing AC2 for 2 years now. During that time I played HZ, COH, FFXi, and L2. Now, I have no gripes against any of those games.. All of them had aspects I really liked. But NONE of those were able to keep my attention as long as AC2 has.
The populations are low, but they are still very playable. Atleast FF & TD anyways, I never have a problem getting a quest going or finding people to hunt with.
Say what you will about the game, thats fine... Its all opinion. Some have gripes or feel they need to shoot down games for whatever reason. I usually try to stay away from that.
Those population numbers really aren't that low. Sure the game can handle a lot more, but it's still enough to make up a MMO "community". I see lots of people and do not feel like the game is deserted or in any particular need of a larger population. Although I imagine the population will be steadily climbing for some time now, the game has gotten much better than it was on release. I was one of those people disgusted with the launch and quit the game after 2 months, swearing never to return again. I'm glad I decided to give it another chance.
I'm definatly enjoying the game in the same way... After a year away I rejoined AC2 and have been having a really good time. If you want to join a great allegence try The Disciples on the Frostfell server. Great bunch of people from all over the world, community, crafting, weekly quests... Look me up (you can add to friends list if you want) Blockade, Piqure, Mort Subite, Mad Squirrel... I have a bunch of toons since each class offers its own unique fun and play style. Anyways, I hope to see you in Dereth.
You may say I'm a dreamer I'm not the only one I hope some day you will join us And the world will live as one
