Hello ffxi communauty ,
i played this game a long time ago, i was playing a Rng/ninja class back then , i think i quit to join my friend on Eq2 and because it was hard to find an english speaking group back then.
I think to come back and start a summoner class but wanted to know if the game is to old to be worth it. Will i have problem to do my class quest and get my new summon pet??? Is cash will be a problem since i don't have my old account anymore! Can i still find good linkshell to have fun with my summoner class ?
I don't mind grinding , i just want to enjoy the ride from 1 to 75.
Another question ?
- Do the expension is required or can i stick with my old box ? Not sure if i still have my login and password , i think i gave my account info to Ls leader back then.
-thanks for your time and answer!

>.> yeah you should come back
for getting your avatars/summons, that shouldn't be hard at all, i'm sure people will do them for free seeing they would get 10k after each fight
You shouldn't have any problems leveling Summoner as long as you have all of the summons ^^;
And i'm sure you'll find a LS really fast when you start partying in the dunes ^^
and cash...easy! just do what i did...when i first started i took up gardning and made elemental ores, which sell for 80k-120k on phoenix server ^^ only thing you'll have to be able to check them every real life day ^^
as for your question....i'm on Xbox so i really wouldn't know, the next expansion is going to come out some time this winter as far as i know
And yeah! you really should come back
blah!
Thanks for the answer, for the gardening part ... its something i didnt like much because i have to check every day!! I'm often away on week-end and i hate gardening :O !!!
Well i will try to get used to it !!! But im sure i can find another craft to fit me !!
Can we choose our server or we have to get an invite to change ???
I remember having trouble to choose my server to be with friend back then!
lol yeah they got rid of that stupid auto server thingy, after you make your character you can pick which server you want to be on ^^
and you're very welcome ^^
blah!
It's never too late to come back :-)
With all the new content they've added over the past couple years - new areas, new jobs, new missions/quests ... new everything... it's safe to say Vana'diel has expanded considerably since you last logged in. Now with Wings of the The Goddess coming out, which will introduce 3 *more* new jobs as well as reintroduce the original 30 areas or so of the original FFXI as they looked before the great war of the game's back story... it's about to get even bigger.
I can guarantee, so long as you're looking to really dig in and play the game and don't fall into the whole "one-track-mind grind-fest treadmill" some seem to get locked into, you will not run out of things to do.
Welcome back (in advance) and enjoy!
and the cash shop selling asphalt..." - Mimzel on F2P/Cash Shops
Before you start a completely new account, check out playonline.com, they're running their "Welcome back to Vana'diel" campaign again, where former subscribers can get their characters back if they want to re-sub. When they first ran the campaign, yuo got your character back at all jobs and levels you had when you quit playing, but you lost all items and equip. I'm not sure if it's the same thing now, but even so, if your RNG is high enough you could get all the avatars in your ranger, and have em ready for SMN levelling. It wouldn't take long to get somewhat decent equip if you re-subbed and found yourself naked.

Ff xi is fun , i like Eq 1 better but that's my opinion. If you like Pve eq 1 is best than wow for pvp at the moment.

EQ1 had better raid content if that's what you mean by pve. in my opinion so FFXI has some of the best party based pve content of any game on the market still.
Missions even at high level take a solid group to complete not to mention there are a ton of em, each with great story and cut scenes.
