As allways real good stuff, ever wondered about publishing a WWIIol Monthly Magazine?

With CRS involved feeding you tidbits of new stuff and interviews I think you could get some 4-5000 Subcribers on it :-)

Whats the subscriber base of WWIIOL?

I just resubscribed to Planetside but it lacks..erm...everything lol, so was thinking about joining this game.

    But two things worried me:

    a) Does it have the fraction of the graphics/physics to dot he game/idea justice and

    b) Does it have the playerbase to support it?

Vegetto, The playerbase could be larger, but I'd hazard to guess that's true for every MMOG out there. I can say there are sufficient players for epic battles across the Frontlines.

As far as the graphics go, we're in the middle of getting a major graphics update, so they're improving drastically. I suggest downloading the client from the WWIIOL Downloads page and trying the game in Offline mode. It won't show you what the region we play in is like, but you can get a feel for the terrain and avatars on the various shooting ranges. Go to http://www.wwiionline.com/ and click the Download link at the top of the page and download the Full Client (it won't cost you anything to do this) for your OS. Then give it a shot. You have nothing to lose and if you're a WWII History nut like me, everything to gain!  :)

    Have Fun!

Ahh good, well seems to be alot of die hard fans, which is good enough for me :)

Just gonna spend all tonite reading through this mass of text from the online manual then give it a shot tomorrow.

I tested the aircraft a few times (crashing everytime) in game, was very impressed with the airplane models, which in actual fact, are maybe comparable to flight simulator graphics 2 years ago, which is great, all the dials move and everything :D

Chose my name as zorba(irl nick), wanted 'speckled Jim' but limited alot by name length restrictions (blackadder 4 fan :))

The graphics of WWIIOL will always lag behind those of "Shoebox" games likem MOH and COD etc...

    Why?

Because of the viewable range.  With MOH and similar you can see maybe 300 meters...  Maybe.  The game therefore can use all its graphics and processing power to render BEEautiful scenes out that far.

WWIIOL allows you to see and shoot up to Five kilometers.  Rendering an sphere/hemisphere of that size...  and everything and everybody in it takes a lot of power.  Therefore they have to scrimp on the detail a bit in order to make it playable.

Ask yourself.  What is the point of having tanks having guns effective to 3000m if you can only see 300m?

WWIIOL is a WARGAME...  where most players are pawns.

Most other FPS games are fragfests.

    No comparison.
