There's some out there. Most probably don't qualify for the first M in MMORPG but they try. However, it's hard to find a reliable list of good web based games out there. Are there any recommendations for a browser based online RPG that breaks the mold from the bland, stereotypical client based MMORPGs we typically see?
More than anything, I'm just interested to see what's out there.

Interesting that there aren't more responses. I would think opening up MMORPGs to the browser based market would allow for much smaller developers to showcase their "innovative" ideas. Maybe people just aren't interested without a big budget production. Of course that has shown itself to mean rather stagnant ideas which everyone also complains about. So are folks just not interested in these browser based games or are they just as rehashed as your typical stand alone client MMO?
I already had an account with Lands of Hope and I have been giving it a try. Like I said in my first post, I want to see what's out there.

Nah, these guys are nuts. OGame is the biggest and best by far and it truly is massive. BattleDawn is pretty sweet too.
Well there's http://www.eternumonline.com which is pretty much EQ/WoW in a browser
How I so loved those tick-based games years back haha. They sure are fun, but I don't think they are really good.
Space Merchant Realms is a game I really like though. Kind of confusing in the beginning, but it's cool.
Not an MMO but www.planetarion.com was amazing back in the day Dunno what state it's in now tho
As for RPGs www.eternumonline.com is really good

Can't believe no one has mentioned Ralph Koster and his Metaplace initiative here.
It's not out yet, but he's being VERY ambitious, then again thats typical Koster.
Is metaplace actually browser-based? And I thought it was a n environment engine rather than an actual RPG implementation.
Simple but strangley addictive Urban Dead http://www.urbandead.com
