The future of Sony Online Entertainment

No matter how you slice it...whether you like TCG's or not...it really has had an impact...

How do you guys feel about LoN?

Seems cool...but, I have an issue that I cannot play it at 1280x720 on my 50" DLP...which would be the perfect location to be playing this...on my couch..

Anyone else?

Personally, I don't see what a virtual card game brings to the table (no pun intended) that's so exciting. If I was a fan of tabletop card games, I'd probably be more juiced about this, but I'm not. I'm also of the stubborn opinion that if I wanted to play a card game, I'd play one in real life. The thing I like about computer games is they have engines and game mechanics that decide the outcome of events for me so I DON'T have to use things like cards and dice as I would if I were playing pen-and-paper with a bunch of friends around the table.

On a positive note, I think it is cool that it gives EQ/EQ2 players the opportunity to win in-game items and it does seem like a great way to blow time when you're waiting around for a raid to start.

I looted the starter pack and followed through the tutorial and did a sample battle, though a good idea it was hard to get a handle on and in the end I didnt consider it to be enjoyable.  Out of 10 I give it a 3.

    Max wedge baby!

Half a million in a month? Yeah, they'll definitely scrap this idea, what a sinker... NOT!

Well, I think they've proven their point.

BTW: If I could come up with an idea, and have nearly everyone on this forum trash me for my "stupid" ideas that noone will go for, and THEN turn around and cash in $500,000 in one month, HELL YEAH! Props to Smedley, I don't have to like the guy to respect him.

Agreed...respect here. I think they are making major strides. Get rid of some crashing issues, speed up the engine, and this game will so be on my hard drive for a while..

    Cheers!

Can someone explain to me exactly what is it? I looked around and nowhere really explains it.

Is it some sort of EQ2-in-game mini-game with cards that you either loot or buy?

100% correct...so Think Magic The Gathering...online, and lootable cards in game, and also, purchasable cards online

Yes. But, its separate of the actual game. Its a game code that runs in a window in the game.

You can play LoN from EQ1, EQ2 and a standalone client (and still play with eachother). Which I thinks are neat :)
