ATTENTION: THIS IS NOT A RANT, HATE POST, WORLD OF WARCRAFT FANBOI post, or any such stupid retarded thing you can think of. This is feedback to the devs or something thats discussable. You guys probably just LOVE the way it is right now, good for you, but i ask that you look at these issues i discuss, and really think about it. Is this game worth it? Its coming in under 30 days, so don't give me this "its beta" crap. Just read.
-----------DIFFICULTY LEVEL, SET TO EXTREMELY EASY???!!!! If they don't revamp the friendly npcs, monsters health, damage and armor, player weapons and armor, this game is going to suck hardcore. If im level 10 and im killing a level 16 in a open grassfield, no cover, and killing one after the other and also having 3+ of them firing on me at once. What the hell do the AFS even need us for? A little bunny could own these Bane, what pushovers. Having level 50s in a newb zone makes it even easier, all the friendly npcs should be the levels of the other bane. Good lord, if you changed that and made it balanced, that'd be a colossal improvement.
------------ THE AI IS STUPID. Drop ships are landing in between 10 troops and only landing 3 weak and pathetic bane and not even a shield drone. Drop ships are landing in the same spots and landing too few soldiers, it should drop at least 5 soldiers.
Bane isn't powerful enough or smart enough to take anything on the map except Imperial Valley which i could defend all by myself as a soldier class even after they broke down the forcefield and had an entire army outside marching in. Dont tell me this is OPINIONATED, because im doing 700 a hit and 1600 a crit while they do 25 dmg to me, lightbenders (snipers) do more dmg to me but they are easily picked off. And because i keep a full arsenal of weapons not even the Predators are a challenge, EMP weapons ftw.
I watch monsters attacking each other and when they melee, it looks like they got a 10 second delay in their brains between attacks, well not 10 seconds, but you get my point.
Doesn't seem like the AI has good enough mission based scripts, they don't have an objective, they just see a target and start shooting it. Only thing that makes them seem smart is they got a huge line of sight and aggro radius, but they are dumb. Which doesnt make up for the lack of PvP, since there wont be any..we need smart and fun opponents. I dont care who you are, but who plays in sports or plays any kind of game, and really gets any satisfaction out of having NO challenge? How can that be any fun whatsoever or satisfying? If you’re one of those people that cheat all the time, then I feel sorry for you.
-------CAREERS are lacking in skills and you cant even use them until you get the logos symbol for it. Need to have more skills and it needs to be easier to spot logos, like put them on our radar so we dont walk right past them. I like having to go on hunts but its annoying when you cant even use your base class skills because your logos is behind a locked door, and your forced to search in this big zone and have no idea where the hell it is. I couldnt find any quest giver for my logos in Concordia divide for the logos I needed except for the one that was behind a locked door which got even more annoying.
Careers are even more unremarkable in groups since everything is so easy you dont even have to really bring out your class skills when you can just two shot things with your rifle. And you can just steamroll at ultra lightspeed style and groups dont even stick together because they dont have to, you can solo the whole game.
----CLONING, it seems nice at first but all it is, is like SAVING your game, and its totally unnecessary in the way its implemented. If you made a mistake, you go back to your clone and you have to re level everything. That sucks. We need to just be able to respect our attributes and skills for a hefty fee.
----CRAFTING? No theres no real crafting, economy and we get a crapload of overflowing money that we dont even need from all the junk we sell. That needs to get fixed. You cant learn things you just use cubes that contain info on them and they get used up after one attempt, lame.
----NOT VERY DYNAMIC, only place bane can take is imperial valley, not if a player is there however, I can defend it all by myself. They should be able to take the entire map and then players can get quests to retake it all back. That would provide a dynamic map, not the pathetic stuff going on right now. Reminds me of some worthless World of Warcraft Battleground.
----SLOW PATCHING IN BETA, what the heck is this? You’re going to patch it the day before launch or something? Good lord, you’re going to be getting a huge amount of repeating bug tickets, you’re just making your job harder and keeping the same bugs on reoccurring while were trying to focus on helping you fix the game, good god.
Fix all these things, and this game will go from a Poor Single Player MMO, forced linear story gameplay and annoying bugs, to a game that is possibly going places.
What does everyone else think? I couldn't possibly imagine anyone could think this game is ready to hit launch? Or do you?

I agree with
- Difficulty
- The AI (well, it's better to name it Artificial Stupidity)
- Cloning. But just at 50%, i think that cloning is useful to try new classes without transform the game into a grind-fest. Anyway, after 6 months or less, that will drop the newbie population to very low numbers.
- Not very dinamic. Anyway, maybe they'll add the movement to the Bane when the game it's released. It's not difficult. Every Bane in the area must run in group to the next AFS base and shoot. It's simple.
I don't agree with your view of the Logos. It is supposed to be their way to give some difficulty and inmersion to the game
They can't wait till the game releases, thats going to be a big mistake. They need to add another 2 months to the beta, they haven't even had an open beta yet. They are going to end up like another Vanguard.
I've heard that most of the quests are not very interesting? You could add that to your list.
What you say about easy-mode and being too solo-friendly confirms my fears from when I first read about this game. Why must all developers suck at finding the right level of challenge?
At first i thought it was ok, but then as i played more and starting exploring and observing things, i quickly noticed how easy it was. You can solo and theres no incentive to grouping whatsoever. I never had to use healing at all. If you died it was because you sat there and let them kill you, or because you are incredibly slow, i would just crouch, which adds your dmg because your hand is more steady when firing, and i'd pop monsters all around me. When you kill monsters really fast, you get a xp bonus modifier, x2, x3......i got mine all the way up to x6 LOL, i was getting over 1200xp a KILL, i was on f'ing fire, i made an entire level killing monsters around imperial valley, one shotting them with my net gun and 2-3 shotting them with my rifle. It was so pathetic, i logged off.
From reading what all of you just said has deeply sadden me. I was wishing, praying, hoping this would be the next great sci-fi game. Even though AO is old, it still provides a great challenge. Maybe by time they release it, vast improvement will have been made. But until then, back to playing some f2p mmo's and AO.
I agree with the OP in most everything, but I don't think he is trying to say its a bad game, just things should be addressed,
At the top of my list would be that its too easy, fix that and its a great game, all else just needs to be worked on !!
You forgot one thing which would make all these issues you mention...disappear OP
What Tabula Rasa needs fixed if its going to be a game worth playing
Remove the monthly fee....as this is NOT a monthly fee type game...period.
Instanced servers, Guild Wars like setups...not very large zones either.,.
Remove the fee, and I would happily pay 50 bucks for the box, as the game is worth that!
Cheers!
Also, give up a reason to see our trainers more often, it'll feel more like character development then.
I Don't think it is to easy.. if they made it harder it would slow the game down to much and take some of the fun ayway...
Running and gunning down fast is some of the best fun in the game... make harder and it will get to much like grinding...
keep it fast and fun..
Agreed...this game is REAL fun...fast furious action..I loved that
But, not for a monthly fee....I can go play Halo for free...
Cheers!
Fast and fun is good... never being challenged isn't. As it is right now the game is just too easy to be fun.. it's like playing chess against your blind, deaf, mute and senile 95 year old grandmother while she's sleeping.
You need to read the beta boards more. The one shotting with the netgun was a known bug. Its been fixed this patch. The XP multiplier has also been toned down this patch. I believe its now a maximum of 2.5
You also might find it more challenging if you fought monsters your level or higher. If you were using a netgun - that makes you a ranger and at least lvl 15. Imperial valley is like a lvl 10 area.
At lvl 15 you should have pretty much completed wilderness and moved onto divide.
Ok so first, a more appropriate thread title would be:
Anyway, my wishlist:"What Tabula Rasa needs fixed so YOU consider it worth playing."
- Structured group PvP: I think they have good foundations (e.g. the classes, control points)
- More multiple choice quests, with decently noticeable impact on gameplay
- Pretty please, a compromise quality setting between Low and Normal. The former looks mighty fugly to me (I felt like playing Quake 2, honestly) and Normal won't provide smooth gameplay without 2GB of RAM (even when disabling Flora and reducing Animation Diversity to a minimum... Textures sure are a memory hog). Releasing a game that doesn't reinvent the genre in an increasinly growded market, while shunning 1 y/o rigs, IMO not a good move... You'd be surprised to know how many care more about having fun than "Ooh! Aah! Me gots an nVideon 14890 Super Turbo Edition+ *wank wank*"
- Maybe review the business model, not enough new/exciting stuff for me to pay $15 a month
- Edit: oh yeah I forgot, maybe Logo crafting? Put Logos of your choosing together and create a new ability?
Again, right now I feel too much like I'm playing "WoW pew-pew edition".__________
Ever wondered what a hardcore WoW raider looked like?
R.I.P. Laura "Taera" Genender
what it needs is another 6 months of development, and attention paid to the beta community
I wish i could talk to Richard Garriot but i can't even log in anymore since i've not been playing it for a couple days i guess they deactivated me, i wasn't even gone that long.
No, don't even go there.
One person says:
"Its not too easy, if it was any harder, it'd be a grind fest"......bullshit. For someone who hates grinding myself, i totally disagree. It doesn't matter how far you get into the game, all you have to do is gear yourself up with the vendor equipment and you can't be a complete retard with your skill building and you will own everything even if you were massively intoxicated while playing. There can't be any fun factor if i finish the game in a week because i blow through all the unbalanced content.
Even if they don't fix all the issues, if they balanced the enemies health, armor and damage vs. the players armor and weapons, skills, etc......it would vastly improve the game. I don't see that happening considering what i've seen of the patch notes so far and the very close release date of this game.
I can only agree with Vitago
They need t owait with game releases
It will be a big mistake if they releases this year
They need to add more that 2 months to the beta. I wil say 5 months will be much better for the beta
Living the life as I hav it
In my view the most important thing they need to fix are the god damn memory leaks. Every hour or two I have to log out and then manually end the program process even though the program has ceased running as an application before I can free ridiculous amounts of memory it has eaten up and then log back in. Other than that, most of the OP's points are near enough spot on.
As much potential as the game has as an mmorpg (and it may be worth another look six months or a year down the road) it was all downhill from the opening movie imho. After the first tier increase (level 5) it was just 'myeh'.
In light of the amazing amount of quality games coming out in the next couple months Crapula Crasha is not worth wasting any money on.
It's like a cheesy single player game you buy in the bargain bin because the box looked cool and you only had $4.99 in your pocket.
Then you get it home and discover why it was in the bargain bin.
My eyes popped out of my head when I read that Richard Garriott had milked NCsoft for over 100 million dollars to make it.
The article has been taken offline because it's embarrassing the Koreans that they got ripped off so badly.
If Richard Garriott was this to go well, then he seriously need to grap his balls, REALLY hard, and do somthing quick!
It will verey sad if this game gos down. I like the game, I do! But it's to close to at singel player game.
1. more co-op system
2. more costume design options (like in City of Heroes)
3. chat bars need ALOT of work
That is the only things I hav come by that need a fix
