It looks a little better than the last vid I saw a couple of months ago
the bad stuff:
In the first class we saw him target a foe and the foe lagged and appeared back were he first saw it. Didn't like the way fire balls followed the target going through solid terrain.
The second class's running animation was alright, however when fighting we saw his weapon swing dealing damage from a distance when the target wasn't even close.
The attacking choppa's animation looked a little basic, and it appeared as though the collision detection was a bit lacking in places.
The casters kinda looked easy to play by standing there and trying to fire off spells as quick as possible.
But the is the bunny hopping looking like its going to be common? Theres gonna be alot of jumping on maps with rocks like those around.
Balance - range and some mage types looked well powerful, and could take 3/4 of your HP away before you got to them (melee) although still in beta, I hope the damage they do will be lessened in the interest of fairness.
the good stuff:
The graphics really well done on some classes
I liked some of the spells and the effects they created.
The U.I. although recognisable, looked easy to navigate and informative.
First time for me seeing some chaos classes.
Orc weapon animation effect looked better less of a lingering green effect.
Overall shaping up real nice! Hope they can make the Q1 release date.
The PvP looks fun but damn those circles around the characters look horrible. It also looked like the little arrows not only point to your team mates but to enemies as well which i don't like. However not enough here to put me off the game, i've been waiting for Warhammer Online since the Climax days.
That red arrow isn't just pointing to any enemy. it's pointing to the one targeted. The other enemies don't show up on that arrow thing around the circle.
That circle is badass. I've always hated looking at a freaking compass way in the top right corner of the screen or open a minimap to tell where my group members were.
It's awesome that you can now tell where your group members are and your targeted enemy just by looking at your character's feet.
The zoomed out views of combat looked amazing. Very chaotic and you can see some of the knockback skills. The runepriest's used of the runes on the ground was pretty cool, and all of the animations and spell effects are shaping up nicely.
--------------------------------------------- I live to fight, and fight to live.
The circle thing is definitely awesome. Mildly innovative, too - not mind-blowing, but definitely a clever touch.
I still think a lot of the animations are sub-par, but far from horrible. They do not seem natural enough, but rather very forced. There is not a lot of flow, especially with the running animations - those are by far the biggest offenders, and this might be because every career, not just every race, seems to have its own gait, and animating 24 of those uniquely and well cannot be easy. Anyway, I would really like to see those re-examined because I am going to be watching my character run a lot - if anybody had a male Human in WoW (pickle up the butt!) you would agree that it sucks when your char looks like a moron when in motion. The fighiing/casting animations are, as a whole, pretty good.
I like that there was not a lot of crowd control going on, at least what my untrained eye could see. I saw a couple dazes, I believe, but nothing too incredible. The speed of battle seems bang on, and the number of players fighting all look promising, too.

A dev said on another forum that they change Collision detection around a lot to test it. They can change it a bunch of different ways and are trying different configurations to see what works the best without being abused. So each build they use for demos will have a different CD setup that is why in some videos you will see CD a lot and others it will seem to not work half the time.
As for the video it looks better and better every time I see it. I am a bit troubled by healing though. It looks to me that the side that has the best healers has the advantage. I REALLY don't want a game where I have to go "Hey do we have any healers on? No? Well guess we will lose then". I hate being pigeonholed into having to have a tank, needing a healer, needing a melee dps, etc. Or even worse if it keeps up for war, Needing a Night elf tank, a greenskin healer, a Chaos caster, etc etc. There will undoubtably be some overpowered combo that conquers all and ruin the game for me. I hope they really spend a lot of time in balancing out classes so each has a strong point and each has a weak point. Even the archetypes of each race should have it so you don't get " we need a HE healer" instead you get "We need a healer". Granted that still angers me that you will NEED a healer but it is much better than needing a specific race healer.
Maybe it's just the resolution for the video. the graphics don't seem so appealing. I need to try it on my computer to really judge though. It looks to me that players need to take a lot of hits before going down. I wonder if that's good or bad.

at the convention I thought the video looks like the current daoc or a little better. Yes it does take a long time to kill someone and coming from daoc which ppl die in 2 secs its great. Now u can run away from 3 ppl hacking at u and come right back and kick their butts.

Yes, I agree with that. In DAoC I felt that people simply died too easily and quickly, but I suppose the Realm Rank system required you to mass-slaughter enemies to really make any progress.
Seems like WAR will actually allow you to do some fighting to kill your enemies.
Where is my enemy.. oh a circle pointing the way.. here Mythic wanna wipe my ass too.. im too lazy to do that my self.
If only they could give you a brain, or invent a time a machine and go back in time, and tell your dad to shoot you into a tissue instead, the world would be a better place.
You started to talking about yourself first, so you have noone to blame but yourself when others join in
The personal attack on you was uncalled for, And I take it back. After reading some of your post i realised you are a SMART STRAPING YOUNG LAD.
This is what you said about WOW .

It ticks all the boxes, fun, humor, polish, commuinty, friendly, best PvE raid game, fun PvP, pwns all other MMO's"
Your word my friend is GOLD who could dare disagree with this statement.
He just said WoW has the best community and PvE raid AND PVP? Wow this kid needs to get a rain check
Well, they do need to work on it. Though it's cool they have such big battles running smoothly anyway. (generally smooth) There seemed to be no Collision Detection in the fight, but that could be because of lag and such.

Go read some of this posts if you would like. Some of them are pure gold and will have you laughing for a few minutes.
There is a fine line between liking and/or respecting a game, and I do like/respect WoW, and building a shrine to it and trashing every other product.
It is ironic, however, that someone who plays WoW, which can be modded so the game practically plays itself (until 2.0 it did, go one-button play!), and is so easy and shallow a pre-teen can play it, is whining about a circle with an arrow, when WoW's radar and map can show oh so much more. Allies, resource nodes, quests, vendors, and anything else one wishes to add. If you totally pimp out your WoW UI, it is amazing how simple the game becomes, really. Popups tell you when to heal, when to use a triggered ability, what to sell an item for at auction, and more. EA Mythic is providing more functionality out of the box but limiting what addons can do so it does not get so out of hand.
tthat video woulda have last only 1 min if it was daoc lol. I think its a big improvement when fights last way longer now and everyone gets a chance to do something and have fun.

All I can say to you man is BETA. It has 6 months until it is scheduled to release. Anything can and will change. Look at WoW and specificaly mages. In beta they were overpowered as hell, on release they were nerfed and lost invis because the devs were retarded. WoW is a solid game, I won't say good because I believe it is far to pointless with the way devs change things constantly for no apparent reason and things that should logically be changed aren't. Back to WAR as far as radar goes, that may go live it may not. I have also played WAR and while it feels like any MMO should feel it brings PvP and a bit of complex choice to the table. Far more than WoW can say it has done to make the game more in debth.
Also, WoW was at one point basically a 1 button game at least on my mage. Raiding- Frostbotl x1000000 Evoc x 3 and AI x 10. PvP was the same except it went something like this- 1 button macro(ToEP+ZHC+AP+POM+PYRO and if that didn't stop them you used fireblast to finish it. Game over man! Game over! Warlocks was fear and Dots, Warriors were invicible with healers, druids sucked, hunters got aimed shot/autoshot and that damn pet, There were plenty of one button macros and simple combos that would demolish other people and that is what gave WoW the 1 button title...that and raiding.
Great... Another fairly constructive post ruined by WoW comparisons. Honestly why does every post on this forum have to argue something for or against Warcraft. Can we lock this one?

About a year ago i moded my disc holy priest to one button heal and dispel an entire raid , then i made it as big as my screen and tinited slightly blue when anyoen in the raid needed dispeled or healed. IE all i did was click my mouse anywhere on the screen and move my toon.
YES it has been possible to one button wow.
Also back on topic -
REally make the vid max size and look at the animations (attack , and spell) if you ask me there the best i seen in an mmo. Look at how th BW charges up his fireball.. very very cool. REally i think you guys are off on this one. Now the spell effects may be rather weak. (ie the explosions) and the squig hunter too
Also look at the 2nd character this guy plays , its the warrior priest (the empire HEALER) Watch him run up an melee like its his job. IE not just healers that is for sure.
"Society in every state is a blessing, but government even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one ..." - Thomas Paine
"Essentially, we don't want UI mods to make combat-sensitive decisions for players and as such, we've made some changes that block functionality that we feel is counter to the spirit of these philosophies. As such, AddOns and macros can't make decisions on who to target or what spells to cast."
Yes, before 2.0, legal mods existed that allowed one to do just fine in PvE with a single button. These were intelligent mods (really just used a series of "ifs") that could determine what was going on in a fight, devise a list of options, queue the one with the highest priority, and then execute on the next button press. They could buff, heal, nuke, whatever.
I used one on my warrior once. My guy would battle shout when needed, charge, rend, heroic strike, drink potions, everything. There was no thought - the UI did it all so long as I tapped a button. Healers used to use them all the time in instances and raids, since they were often more efficient than a human. There was no delay, just cold, quick calculation.
It is not possible to do this in 2.0+, but WoW is still very liberal with what it allows. Mods today are not one button, but you can do everything but that. For example, a mod can tell you the best course of action, but you have to be the one to actually press the command - you cannot queue it up in a single button. By this I mean the UI can highlight who should be healed, but you have to be the one to target and heal him.
Still...claiming WAR is WoW for children...quite a joke, considering its environment seems to be less childish. But, coming from quite a rabid, though clueless, fanboy, it is expected.
WoW: great game, but not for everyone. WoW fanboys need to learn that and stop trashing anything that is different without valid reasoning. Still, the proof will be in the launch, and I suspect WAR will steal away a fair number of the WoW fans who are not mindless drones and are willing to try it out. Some may go back to WoW, and that is fine, but some will stay, preferring it. That is the great thing about having an open mind and freedom of choice.
"Wow has never been 1 button, unless you have proof of this?" Yes, I do have proof; it is odd you need it as I would expect someone like you to have known about one-buttoning WoW before 2.0. Here is the link: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=32184244 The most important part: "Essentially, we don't want UI mods to make combat-sensitive decisions for players and as such, we've made some changes that block functionality that we feel is counter to the spirit of these philosophies. Oh god I remember that. The main tank in a guild I was in had that. IT was amazingly lame. I was like "So you're just sitting there pressing one button and eating?" and he said "Yeah it's great when the game plays itself."
But thats not the worse of the worse. My friends have made macros for their hunters which are ridiculous. It's not possible for a human to do such actions. And thats why I never wanted to play with add-ons even though I know they'd give me a huge advantage in everything. It almost feels like cheating doing things like that.

FFXI: Gauhar - Odin

Looks like WOW with a few mods added ..... lol what a joke slow boring PvP .... this games gonna suck and be known as
the million man let down.
"Wow has never been 1 button, unless you have proof of this?"
Yes, I do have proof; it is odd you need it as I would expect someone like you to have known about one-buttoning WoW before 2.0.

The most important part:
But thats not the worse of the worse. My friends have made macros for their hunters which are ridiculous. It's not possible for a human to do such actions. And thats why I never wanted to play with add-ons even though I know they'd give me a huge advantage in everything. It almost feels like cheating doing things like that.
