What would be your Ideal MMO.

I was thinking about this in another thread and this is what I came up with for my ideal MMO game.

Updated and stylized graphics.  Something similar to what WAR looks to have.  I don't need nor want Vanguard graphics, but I also don't want WoW either.  Something in the middle. 

Realm Vs Realm system.  I want the ability to PVP if I want, and I want it to mean something.  Not the stupid ladder system that WoW has, but I also don't want rampant ganking and FFA like AC DT server was or pre Trammel UO. 

The RvR system should have some type of rewards to it.  Something that benefits the whole zone (like capturing Relics and Keeps does on DAoC) and something that benefits the individual.  That individual benefit can be Looting your enemy (but I would like the AC1 system better then anything else.  Give us the ability to protect our better items by lowering their value and carrying treasure that will drop first) or some type of character advancement based on RvR. 

Random Object Generator loot.  Like Asheron's Call 1.  I want to go hunt and not know what loot I am going to find.  I don't want some raids with the best loot.  Let raids have cosmetic loot.  Cool looking but not the most powerful. 

I want a barter system with many different items used as currency and the main way to trade items is by bartering between players.  I realize that people might find this annoying, but It really helps to keep inflation down. 

I want a user interface similar to World of Warcrafts with smooth animations as well.  That is one of the things I hate about Dark Age of Camelot.  The graphics are nice, but the animations are crappy. 

Lastly I want raid content, but I want it to have no cap on numbers that can participate.  Similar to Public raids on Dark Age of Camelot and Public quests on Asheron's Call.  I hate this 40/25 man raids in World of Warcraft.

    Anything that can combine UO and AO's qualities without screwing me over with dx10 crapvaganzas will do. There's also Trials of Ascension, The Secret World [link on sig] and SBG's 'future fantasy' [link on sig] upcoming MMOs.

    But those are a good 5 years from now as it seems.

    Combine S.T.A.L.K.E.R , Hellgate London and Resident Evil.

    City under quarantine. Radiation,demons and zombies everywhere.

    Survived people has to fight cause the cant get out of the city.

    There would be zones like in stalker and artifact weapons like in Hellgate.

    Everything would be dark and in ruins. Constant night.

    Single FFA PvP server with conquerable lands (improve game mechanics so that older characters are not guaranteed a win, and there will be less griefing)

    Collision detection

    Friendly fire on AOE damage

    Player cities (but with restrictions on where they can be built)

    No easy way of travel - ease of travel ruins many a good game. MMORPG are not CS.

    Everyone in the game needs to eat and drink to stay alive and keep their stats up - this includes the npc's as well as the players.

    Farming

    Deep crafting system (think original SWG)

    Skills not classes,

    Fun not grind

    No uber Loot

    Raid are fine but should not be a focus

    Good smart pve that does not focus on grinding...more story driven quest arcs that involve, travel, trade, killing and exploration.

    Many many more NPC's - I kinda hate that there are more players around than ordinary citizens...makes it feel less like the players are the elite part of the game world.

    Cities will have building that can be rented, turned into apartments, or stores...al sorts of things, like a real city

    Player driven economy

    Gear decay

    Player accountability - Characters and accounts are linked to a single person - if you are allowed to have extra chars or extra accounts then any player can find out all of your alts. I think this would curb some of the crap players do to each other.

    Lots of other things too...but that is off the top of my head

    territory control, 100% crafted gear, gear stats procedurally made(choose 1 step or 500 if you follow those steps again you'll get the same stuff), town/base building, territory control, skill based advancement, territory control, decision based combat(twitch sucks), low/unique fantasy back story, and incase I didn't mention it territory control.

    I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.

    I'll just say I agree with Heptah's list, though I would like to add that I think player run cities (outside of NPC cities) should require protection (can be destroyed / sieged).  Only those dwellings in NPC towns that can be rented could avoid destruction but the space should be at a premium (have a high bi-weekly cost..if not payed you loose it.  No grace period and if your account because inactive for any reason you loose it, regardless if your character has paid in advance or has cash in the bank).

    90% of Heptah's list seems to arrive to an almost accurate picture of what Darkfall's gonna be and uhh... paul?..Don't we have territorial control in Shadowbane?

    I want the ability to change the game world. Not necessarily by myself, but with the coordinated effort of a group would be fine. For example the ability to change the creatures that inhabit an entire zone, or the ability to construct a bridge that creates a short cut, or opens a path to an area that was not accessible before, or the ability to capture a fortress, or build one, the ability to create unique items, or open up access to a dungeon, or close access to a dungeon, and things like that.

    No one knows what Darkfall is gonna be, until it actually releases. Many people thought they know what Vanguard was gonna be, until it released.

    The gameworld changing is really cool and I agree that I don't have to be the one that does it to make it cool. 

     

    For instance one of the coolest events in an MMO for me was when Arwic was destroyed in AC1.  I remember logging in and watching people's mule characters fall to their deaths because they had logged out on the second story of a building that was no longer there.  (and mule character's were generally overburdened so that caused massive fall damage).

    1.    You need an Auction House (or something like it) to sell your goods, all Goods built from the players, I hate the trade spamming channels, The interface, need to be set up with lots of choices and features.

    2.    I really like talent points similar to wow but it would be nice to see say 5 different specs for each race or profession.

    3.    I like that fact that Vanguard has a huge amount of classes to pick from that is awesome.

    4.    I like the fact that WOW has so many different dressed people not a lot of people look the same. When Guild wars came out everyone looked the same and that really bothered me about that game, but it is free to play. Games really need to invest way more time into what people look like!!!!!!!!!! I also think after you picked your character, you should still be able to change facial hair and hair styles all the time any time... I would put a team together just to make lots of different types of clothing…….Players have been screaming that for years WAKE THE F UP!!!!!!!!

    5.    I like the fact that guildwars has heroes now, and when you can’t find a group you can take AI’s to group with you.

    6.    How hard is it to make a real good grouping boards, the one is wow sucks, I haven’t seen many others that work good. If you can’t find a group or your guildclan isn’t big enough that still shouldn’t stop you from completing quests. I like having the choice to group with people and if I need to because I want to play at 4 in the morning I can take a mercenary’s that you can hire or just add to your group.

    7.    Guildwars did the hero thing in Nightfalls where you build up another character I really like that idea, I just wish you can train them to do certain things like MODDING them up a little so you can train his fighting style.

    8.    I like having lots of LvL’s like 60 or more,,,,, but I don’t like grinding, I believe killing a million bears is not value added to players make the questing or something else hand out more XP

    9.     I would like to see quest gear get better and have way better drops

    10. I like instances and I believe they should triple up on that, but again have the ability to get AI players to help you out.

    11. I personally haven’t done it but I would like to see RVR where every month you fight a new Realm and at the end of the year or every 4 months the Realm should get some sort of gift for winning.

    12. Guildwars has special events that blow all the MMO’s away. Wow has them too but there kind of lame

    13. I love massive world, I am thinking something like 3X’s the size of WOW and maybe a floating land mass

    14. I really like the fact you can have a house but I have to say it doesn’t make sense because there are way too many people playing. I think you should have a guild/Clan house but in the actual game that other players can come in. A place you can sell your wares. Player made cities but everywhere or in every city and town.

    15. I wish you can have hundreds of little towns that you can take over and hold. Spend money to buy guards but another faction can take your town away. I hate world resets! Your guild should get extra bonuses or buffs for taking the town.... holding a town would be much harder than people think considering people really need to sleep hehehe. Maybe make it every day for 4 to 8 hours pending on time zone

    16. More factions would be nice like 4 or more. Horde, ALLY, monsters, XXX 

    17. Siege weapons are very cool I would like to see more that!

    18. I like racial traits!!!!!! I think they can expand on them, like if you’re a ORC you can pick up a objet like tree or rock and just chuck it at another player.

    19. I believe Ventrilo or Teamspeak should be built into the game; you should be able to right click any player and click TALK. But have the option to turn it off because that could be annoying to some people It’s the year 2007 close to 2K8 why this isn’t in every game is beyond me WAKE UP!!!!!!!!

    20. I would like to be able to buy a ship or boat, again the world really needs to be really big!!!

    21. There should be a better way to control people spamming there gold prices in the game and website in the game.   

    22. Flying mounts!!! Assuming this is a sword and spell kind of game. There should be a whole large area to fly up too forcing people to buy them. Game DEV’s still need to make players spend money.

    23. DON”T OPEN 6 to 12 servers on the first day of a new game, fill up the damn servers up one at a time. How hard would it be to watch servers get full, once there 70% full open another or start off with only2 MAX!!!! Nothing worse than having an empty server if I wanted to solo without other players around I would play Oblivion.  

    24. I would like to see the ability to be a monster a big old leafy guy that sends out spores to be his minions hehehe, most of the MMO’s out there are very regimented and don’t go that extra mile for the players. There needs to be more choices, maybe being a monster with no faction and gets points from killing human and Orc players.

    25. Now a touchy subject? PVP all the time and everywhere on all servers. I think this could work but they should control it a little more. For the defending faction, say a lvl 100 bad guy comes into a lvl 40 area,, the bad guy shouldn’t get any honor points maybe only dishonor and you lose points. it should be limited to say 20 lvl’s that you can kill, here is the incentive, the defending guys may have a LvL 100 guy kicking around if the good guy kills the bad guy he should get a point towards special gear or something to that effect. Give people an incentive to defend lower areas,,, it gives the maxed out people even more to do.. yes I know there are pvp servers

    26. I would like it when you back way from the map to see more land mass you can see where the lines have been drawn between factions.

    27. Permanent death????? Na to P&D but you should lose something like money or a slot item. Like EQ I remember running my ass off to get my damn cool fishing rod one day.

     

    I can go on and one but this should be a start…….. just my opinions!!!

    Reputation is very important, you might find some town hate your ass but some think you’re a king, this is where you would sell yours goods for a cheaper cost, it would be better is it went by guild. You might get some nut in your guild go into a town and mess with it killing everyone’s rep in the guild.

    Good idea!!!

    Quest Rewards.  Let's say you and your buddy are on the same quest.  HE';s a clothie you're a plate wearing tank.  Now in WoW the reward for this long long quest line you did turns out to be... a leather belt!  Useless to you both!,, it must have proper rewards for the class
