I have to admit that SWG was one of my favorite MMORPG. I loved it. However I left just before all the uproar with the changes occured.. Now I hear rumors that certain classes don't exist any more or they have changed so much that what I liked about it doesn't exist anymore.
Could someone tell me if it is still possible to do the following in SWG ?
1. Create Houses.
2. Train wild animals.
3. Have a city.
If I can still do those things I would come back.
What I liked about SWG is I didn't feel like I was in a Leveling grind! All I see out of the other MMORPGs of 'premium' quality is doing the same thing over and over again but in different areas depending on your level. With SWG I didn't have that sense of repetitiveness.
I tried it again a couple of months back and the user interface was so cumbersome I didn't know how to control my character. But according to some posts I have seen, it seems there are some options I can do to the game to make it easier.

1. Yep, housing is the same as it always was.
2. You can't tame a wild creature and have it instantly like you did with CH. Instead, you collect the DNA from the creature you want, then you you put in an incubator along with a few other components and then you can design your pet how you like. It's alot more detailed then just this line, but I'm keeping things short and sweet for now :P
3. Yes you can still have a city and since they fixed some bugs recently that was allowing abandoned cities to hang around, there is the oppotunity to start up a new city on most servers now.
The game is now level based so you will need to grind to gain levels (kinda like grinding to gain skill boxes before). However you don't have to if you'd rather take a break and do something else. As has always been the case in SWG, you can take a break from combat and go do a bunch of other different things.

I used to enjoy supplying our city with housing to new members, making mining equipement, having a daily ritual of checking all the mining to ensure they where still functional and then training the occassional wild animal.
I am glad to hear there was a bug with the cities. I always wanted a city on Nabu but it seemed it was always fully populated.
Yeah setting up your movement, specials, and targeting is such a necessity. It takes a few minutes but it is so much better than the crappy default

What server do you play on?
It's been so long ago I don't remember which server. I will be starting with new toons. I am not much into Roleplay but enjoy the theme of SWG and how they implemented it.

grrr, can't find a place to download and get as key, like I was able to do with EQ2, looks like it will have to be mailed to me.
You indicate that you had an account before, if you know the login name and password you can use that now (you have until Sept 30th to take advantage of the 21 day free trial). Then you can just add in payment info to continue if you want to.
Thanks, I just noticed the subscription was in a pending state.. I am downloading it now but I wasn't sure if I had all the expansions on the account or not. It seems for $20.00 I could get all of them, so I was thinking about just buying another.
Anyhow, I am refreshing the current install under the current account and will be ingame as soon as it finishes.
You can pick up that $20 pack and just register it as an expansion on your current account to keep all the veteran benefits

I logged in last night and was surprised to see that Theed city on Nabu appeared deserted, even more suprised was no one was in the catina.

SWG was my favorite game in the past, I mean, Pre-CU...I had 2 accounts, one with my Master Bounty Hunter and the other with my Master Doctor.
I was trying the new CU and It was the begining of the end for me. It cost to me my Master Doctor toon which was useless now (Nerfed to death)...and all my BH stuff, armor etc. After this crap, they remake all the system, with the Jedi class, lvl etc. I went into the game and I began a Jedi (bored) and they gave me 69 lvl. I was trying to make a comeback but...forget it..
They made the NGE...and it was the last thing to kill the game...They dont licent the players comunity anyway...
The game in the begining had 1,000,000 players and after their patchs, remakes and GOOD DEV IDEAS, they dropped to 50k players now...(rumor said 10k...)
Anywa, I dont think that SONY will redo the game for the fourth time...but we can hope...
One move that SONY must do , like Vanguard, is merging 3 or 4 servers together and make a new server and so on. Remove the ghost city, clean the useless things to make place for the new city(s) etc
This move would make 3 new servers and have some thousand of players togheter...
One major thing that SONY has forgot and I think that they dont care about this anyway is the COMMUNITY... You can have the best game in your hand but if you're alone with yourself, whats the deal ?...
Ayway...I heard in some forums that SONY had the idea to make Classic Server, I mean Pre-CU and Pre-Shit....But I dont think that they will make that...
They have a lot of work to trying to keep the players in this game, but for me this game is dead since 2 years (maybe 3...) ago...
