I already covered Why I think Developers ruin games with their treatment of guilds. Basically my point was Almost everyone is soloing so why punish them? Let guilds recieve perks if anything at all but let soloers and guildies be equal in power. Simple. How many people would be in a guild if it offered no advantage at all? From just about everyone ive talked to about it, even the ones who would still guild, not very many. So, reward them with goodies not otherwise unattainable skills.
However! PvE is the other supplier of cancled accounts in my household.
PvE in MMO's is absolutely ridiculous, thats right, it's diculous all over again. Why in the world are we expected to have fun killing NPC's over and over again? At least in offline games PvE is measured and therefore when done right , fun.
In MMO's though it is (A, kill mob with power (B. Kill same mob with same power (C. See steps A and B. Can we get a break?
If you are new to MMO's then you barely know the pain you'll be in 3 years from now if things stay this way. I have played 12 MMO's total, not counting the ones I tried for a day and uninstalled quicker then George Bush can make an ass of himself with a microphone.
The result is I havent played a MMO in many months now. I look forward to trying alot of MMo's coming out, espcially Heroes Journey, Gods and heroes, and Warhammer, to name a few. But I honestly expect the worse while hoping for the best.
If Blizzard set up a seperate game where they charged, oh I dunno, 5 dollars a month for access to just battlegrounds, where they had a huge variety of weapons and armor you could buy with points earned I would pay it faster then britney spears could lip sync 100 bottles of beer!
The reason, PvE is a bad joke and nobody's laughing nearly as loud as they used to. Its like Jay leno telling the same Clinton joke every night for the last 8 years or so, its just isnt fun anymore.
Tetris has more thrills then another day of PvE'ing in Warcraft. For me It would be really nice if warcraft set up servers where you could have fun with PvP without any PvE . I don't want to kill even one more murloc to get to the good part.

I don't agree with you mate.
I like PVE gaming, it's relaxing, at least for me. But is a matter of tastes IMHO
there are SOO many PVP-centric MMOs out today.. I dont think the PVP crowd can be satisfied.
Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words; they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits.
Watch your habits; they become character.
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.

There are so many pvp games about to be released. Not out already.
I think there are alot of folks out there who are "bored" and most of them long time MMO players.
Until we see something truely innovative and not dumbed down for the masses, I think alot of us will continue to be bored.
My advice to the OP is to try a MMO that isnt fantasy like WoW. Im not sure what games you have played but if you have stuck with the old sword and shield ones, you might consider city of heroes, eve or a few like that.
I myself am playing wow and will continue to do so. The real fun starts at 70. I will most likely try WAR and im definaly gonna give Hellgate London some of my time.
I agree that pve is stagnant and outdated.
While I am primarily a pvp guy, I believe pve is needed in any MMO, but I also believe pve is outdated and boring like the OP said.
The next games coming out (after WAR and AOC) should take a serious look at pve and revamp it.
I don't know what is needed exactly, or I'd be rich, but SOMETHING needs to be done.
D.
PvP centric? sooo many? really?
I do see an ever growing amount of post from people not satisfied with Pve and PvP as well as a ton of other gaming aspects, balance, crafting, etc
I cannot say I have seen a lot of PvP only minded in comparison, seriously. Not in comparison. but lets take a look at this website's list of games. It will be obvious to all that just about every one has us killing NPC's bots on an amazing scale of repetition.
I am not a PvP crowd person. I just wanted PvP now because I find , like many others that PvE has to change a little after so many years of repetition. Repetition on a scale that is amazing. I cannot imagine anyone playing MMO's right now that in 5 years are going to be excited if the PvE is excatly the same as it has been for the last 5 years.
Of course there is always some that will like whatever, but any of us think most people will?
Its annoying and ruines the game.
Suddenly PvE is more attracting to play. I can actually enjoy the game, and do things in my own pace.
If I had to choose between a pvp game or pve game I would go pve simply because pve content gives me more to do than pvp. I like pvp but games that try to put pvp as a main focus of their game usually fail because it has no depth to it. Maybe this will change in the future but I really dont know. Just have to wait and see.
what gank fest? PvP in WoW only happens when you've allowed it to happen one way or another. Either by being in the battlegrounds or on a PvP server or by making yourself a target on a PvE server, but nobody can attack you unless you are seeking out PvP right? did I miss somthing?
Maybe you could better explain how you mean gank fest.
I would not normally reply to this post because it does not address the issue raised but I have time on my hands.
I am not a WoW fan, but to say that it brought kids to PvP and they ruin the game does'nt seem fair or accurate to me.
I have played several MMO's and WoW has the same basic mix of age levels and personalities that the others have as far as I could tell. Truth be told Kids on the average seem nicer to me then adults on average. Of course we all know youth can lend itself to immaturity and stupidity even at times, but I suspect heavily that most people being jerks and what not are above the age of 21.
Another interesting point is my children and thier friends dont like WoW at all, Though they do like playing online. I really think the vast majority of accounts are being used by adults. All the people I knew in game were older.
.
That's why Warhammer is bring public quest system and also if you have already kill the mobs that the npc require, you will straight away get your rewards! i think its a good start, and the dev can see that quest grinding is really boring.
If only the stories in WoW will continue from lvl 1 till 70, than it'll be better...

I think what he means by gank fest is that while leveling or doing any number of things in WoW that you can get mauled by someone anywhere from 10 to 50 levels above you with no repercussions. I am a pvp fan i like pvp, but when implemented like in WoW with no repercussions for mauling someone that has no chance of escape or fighting back it takes a lot of fun out of the game imo there should be some sort of repercussions for ganking someone that is more 10levels under you such as negative honor not just a +1 in the pvp column. While i do understand that you have to make a conscious choice to join a pvp server even in the most open pvp game there are repercussions for ganking someone that either does not fight back or has no chance.
