Turbine should make AC2 PVP server f2p!

ClassicstarClassicstar Member UncommonPosts: 2,697

Its a real shame that this game will never see the light again:(

They should make it free at least for all those who where so loyal and bought even expansion for it.

I think a pvp server now would get alot of players if server was called again darktide!

Hope to build full AMD system RYZEN/VEGA/AM4!!!

funny every says Darktide is the most populated server these days, hm..... what should matter is the long run benefits. its odd- it appears too me the pvp crowd were a lot more loyal then the pve-server crowd

It is the most populated in AC1.  He was talking about AC2.  They had very different mechanics, and due to AC1's PvP mechanics, it still remains a favorite in a lot of players' eyes.

Im not sure what you mean with very different mechanics, but i dont think thats the main cause for a low populated pvp server on AC2. I think its more a problem with meaningful pvp in AC2, there is no goals other than destroying the enemy's fort.

I think, if we would (should) get one server it should be a PVE server, because with war alter and peace shrine you can battle vs other kingdoms wherever & whenever you like.

Mechanics, as in the mechanics of how the game worked.  AC1 was twitch-based, with dodging.  Not sure how AC2's PvP was because I never bothered with it, but I know the mechanics of the game were a lot different.

In AC1, it was 75% skill, 25% stats.  A level 75 could beat someone in their 130s easy if they knew what they were doing.  Going perma-red at 75 was possibly the greatest decision I ever made in that game.

Having played both, i have to say AC2 had just as much twitch combat as AC1.

If a level 75 could kill a level 130 with ease (in my play time), the level 130 deffinately didnt know what they were doing. But having said that, the one thing i like better in AC1 was that you could kill much higher level players. In Ac2 you couldnt kill people obove a 10 level limit, above that you just couldn't hit them. hmmm... then again, AC1 have 225 levels and AC2 had a soft cap on 80.

PS... AC2 didnt have Stats  Only skills and twitch combat

Nah.  Just meant the 75 was better at what he did.  I did it all the time, but I had been taught by some of the best on the server.  People that I could watch go 20 and 0 on a good day.  That was -before- the cap increase, and before people had maxed everything out though.  In this day and age, anyone below 126 would have a hard time killing anyone with maxed stats, just because they'd be lucky if their spells did anything when they hit - either get resisted or do barely any damage.

I remember being about level 82 or so and going against someone who was in their 140's according to Treestats (I think that's what it was called)  All I had was GSA, store-bought solls/helm/gaunts, and my focusing stone.  It was a long fight, and in the Candeth Keep tunnels so it was pretty close quarters fighting.  He kept debuffing me non-stop (debuffing EVERYTHING.  He went through the entire cycle of yield, creature, war, life, focus, will, endurance) and charging me point blank, so as I began casting a yield on him, I slid behind a corner and popped a dispell gem.  Ran out, dodged a spell on my way towards him, and then tanked two of his spells while I fastcasted 2 arcs and a streak before he knew what was happening.  Looted some 15 DIs from him and high-tailed it out of there, only to be met by one of his friends on the other side of the portal.  In the meantime, I had a friend on the way so I wasn't worried.  Fought the new guy for a good 15 minutes before my friend showed up, and the fight switched to them, and he told me to get out of there.

Sorry, went off on a tangent except for the first couple parts.  Got excited talking about the good ol' days.  =P

    Yep.

Snowreap eventually merged into Coldeve and the server was still pretty empty.

    Damn I miss AC2.

I will always remember playing Desperado on Snowreap/Coldeve.  Most fun I've ever had in a MMORPG.
