I've have been hearing a little about this sleep system. I heard that if you gain X amount of Xp you have to sleep. This doesn't sound fun for me at all. It also said, the longer you sleep/rest, the easier and more exp you HAVE! I don't know what the FU*K Blizzard was thinking, I'm not a hardcore gamer but i know that they are the glue to the game. And this is making them obsolete. All of the losers that want to be in the same rank but their mommies say they can only have an hour a day love the idea, i don't play too much on the computer. But Holy shit, this is unfair to even me and any hardcore gamer. Some one explain this with more details, from what i've heard this sucks. It's not fun unless there are hardcore guys to gloat around the server, and show off. I don't know about you guys, but playing with high levels is alot more fun than low levels.

You're misunderstanding what the rest system is all about. It's ok I had the same reaction lol.
The rest system was Blizzard's way of making the not-so-hardcore gamers beable to balance out with the hardcore gamers. When you haven't rested at all, you're considered to be at normal state. In this state you get 100% of exp per kill. So hardcore gamers aren't losing anything. It's only there because the people who only play on weekends would normally be completely behind compared to hardcore gamers. In a fully rested state you get 200% exp off each kill. This way the casual players can level just as fast as hardcore players. This isn't a bad thing at all. If you want 200% exp then go to an inn and log off for a few days. You'll have about 1.5 lvl's worth of 200% exp to gain. BUT if you stayed in a normal state and played for that same amount of time, then you would still have accumulated about the same amount of exp.
That's as simply as I can put it. The rest system isn't a bad thing at all. It's not holding you back or anything, it's just giving the casual gamers an easier more fun experience. You shouldn't even care about the rest system if you're a powergamer, it doesn't affect you. I hope this cleared things up.

lol, my point was that casual gamers will have an easier time leveling, therefore have fun being a casual gamer. Plus should you care about the casual gamers in PVP? Cmon, theyre only on every once in a while. lol.

I absolutely love this system. I'm a hardcore gamer, often playing 7+ hours a day, but sometimes I have no time for games... And I don't want others to get more lvl than me... BUT thanks to this system when I'm not playing I rest so when I come back...
Earlier when you became tired and got less exp (like 80 percent or what was that) I didn't like the system but now it's absolutely cool.
By the way if you are a hardcore gamer you still are in MUCH better position than casual gamer. 100% is NORMAL exp NOT 200% why people misunderstand that REmember that if you play much more you'll still get more exp (you probably play MORE than 2 times (200/100%) that casual gamers) besides you will surely get MUCH more gold, items, friends, quests... So don't worry and give busy people a chance too

The rest state is fine by me. Yes it is beneficial towards casual gamers but hey, let them have some fun, will you?
For example, look at this calculation.
Current rest state system: Rested(200%) Normal (100%)
Powergamer: Plays 10 hours a day, 7 days a week, 1000 exp accumulated each hour
10x1000x7= 70000 exp
Casual gamer:Plays 3 hours a day, 5 days a week, 1000 exp accumulated each hour
3x1000x5x2=40000 exp
Powergamers earn more exp than casual gamers, so what are you complaining about?

If you do sleep for 8 hours a day you will get a 10% rest bonus when you wake up.. So, it's not like the power gamer doesn't necessarily get anything out of the rest system.
8hrs per rest bubble x 30 rest bubbles = 10 days .. So in order for a casual gamer to receive the full 200% xp bonus, for the duration of 1.5 levels, he/she would have to be offline for a good 10 days.
I am a hardcore gamer myself and I usually get 8 hours of sleep per day (and work later :P), so I will be going in with an additional 10% worth of xp, as I think most of you would.

And the rest system as of the latest patch is a great idea. It doesnt penalize anyone, and it helps boost those that play less. WoW isnt supposed to be a huge leveling treadmill like Lineage 2. Its supposed to be a fun game where the focus is on questing and alliance vs horde battles and such instead of powerleveling for weeks at a time.

This whole thing is a make or break thing for me. I won't be buying the game as long as this is in place.
Anytime 2 players are in the same group and killing the same mob at the same time and one player gets more XP because he's "rested" . The other player is getting screwed. They can put it any way they want, it's a penalty for those who like to play the game and who want to play long hours. And for the record, I think this would have been a good deal for me. I play basically 2 hours a night. That's my limit. I have a family and all.
For those of you who like it, great. For me? It's one less game to worry about playing.
Your just jealous because the voices only speak to me.
Addendum to my above post:
Not all so-called "casual" players are little kids whose mommies won't let them use the computer for mor than an hour a day. Alot of "casual" gamers are gamers who happen to be self-supporting, hard-working people who may even have once been a hard-core gamer. Calling them names is childish and silly. They deserve a good time in WoW also...perhaps a little bit more than some "hard-core" gamers.

I was under the impression that they fixed the rest system to not even have a "tired" state. I thought they removed it so that the normal rested state is the lowest you can go. Was I wrong? If I am wrong and you sstill can get tired and only get a fraction of the exp you should be getting then I'm startin to side with jubbincake.

Are you complaining, about complainers? Hmmmm.... And its a damn game, not life. So who cares if it helps casual gamers, not everyone has time to sit at the computer 5 hours a day. "Devote their time"? TO what?? CLICKING A DAMN MOUSE? Wow, some devotion.
The rest system is awesome, and most sensible people dont have a problem with it. It doesnt make casual gamers as good as hard cores, but it lets casual gamers see more of the game quicker, without having to play 15 hours a week.
I really like the rest system since WoW will come out when I'm in classes I won't be able to play as much as I would like to and since I play a lot of sports I will only have a couple hours during the week. I like the idea since if one day/night I can't play I'll be able to level up fast the next time I can play. This system hurts no-one at all just benefits different types of players (power-gamers and casual) if you people let yourself get a good night sleep (8 hours) you get a bonus for a level when you start playing again. I don't know why the people complain about this system since to me it seems great for everyone. So I really don't see the downside to this system since the gamers who play maybe 10 hours per week will be able to maybe particpate in raids and stuff since eventually thier character would be strong enough and the rest system is going to attract many casual gamers because of the fact they actually have a chance to get to the highest level and do all the fun stuff you can at that level within a couple of months if they play 10 hours on average per week. So anyways to sum all this up I like the rest system personally.
you could max out your characters and grind through 'em getting that rested bonus. It would be too distracting for me though. ok, maybe not.

Rest state is stupid IMO... people who play casual wont lvl as fast as hardcore gamers (like myself I play 8-16 hours a day =P) the rest state wont help them keep up with us... WHY? cuz they only play once or twice a week where as the hardcore game is playing EVERYDAY!.... that extra 100% wont make a big diff...still will take that casual gamer a hell of a long time to lvl.
But the rest system right now is 200% xp at rested and 100% xp at normal... they took out the 150% state. But to get the 200% xp you have to be offline (logged out at an Inn) for like I think 3/4 days i believe if im not mistaken (correct me if im wrong).
