carrying around several different property weps of each type does not appeal to me at all (if it is so fkn sci-fi why cant you just hit a button to change the weapon property?), whats more besides immunities shooting you with a shell of toxins does do some damage even if you are weak to electricity since there is kinetic energy involved. having to AIM is a matter of skill, hitting a button to change to a weapon that does a certain kind of damage totally isn't. even racking up combos with a pistol and shotgun in this game is not so much a matter of skill as a matter of picking a place where other players wont come traipsing through and kill off all the mobs. it feels like they tried to capture the intensity of unreal but put no skill behind it. i waited a long time for this game, i didnt even put super high expectations on it or anything since you can generally trust british to put out an immersive and enjoyable game (unlike conan which had better fkn rock for all the features they are boasting) what i get is a bland and just plain boring experience , it looks like the 12 year olds won again. as far as the system requirements and 3k gaming rigs, you wouldn't expect to play CoH on a NES would you? it isnt the responsibility of the game companies to make sure their latest titles run on dated systems, if you want to play the latest games you are EXPECTED to keep your hardware up to date. they should never make a game crappier than it could be just so people running pentium 3's can play it (which brings us full circle to WoW). you can perceive this game any way you like, and if you enjoy it more power to you. but i cant imagine many people will still be playing it once conan, war, huxley, aion, and unreal are released, it just isn't anywhere near that good. why chew cardboard when i can have bubblegum flavored trident with xylitol?
on that paragraph yes, thats pretty much (exactly)the base i was touching (don' even tell me you actually run on a p3). wow's graphics are garbage in reality and thats even after taking into consideration the fact that its an old game. to make a game that doesn't look anything like a reality is to remove completely the "good graphics" tag. not saying games like wow or even jsrf don't do their own thing well. but looking anything like reality it is not. and since we cant compare the games to transdimensional realities there is no basis for the word "good". TR has a powerful engine but i don't think its really a good one, certainly not when compared to a game like HL2. things do look nice but it uses a ton of resources to do it, as opposed to wow which has huge sloppy cartoony textures TR has pretty nice rocks (that don't shine for some reason when the sun goes down). i'm not trying to take peoples individual hardware into account when picking this game apart, i'm sure it does look like crap on an x800 but that is not what i'm using. it is partly game companies faults for stating sys req's that aren't true, they should have a "plays like crap on" set along with the "recommended" and "minimal" listings. even on the highest settings about all i can say is "nice rocks" ... its not a tight engine like hl2, its a big sloppy drunken mammoth or something sure it gets the job done but not in the least bit efficiently.
so yea i agree with Horkathane on that 1 thing, if you dont have the hardware to run it at max settings don't say a peep about the graphics because by your just not allowed to be taken seriously. kinda like a virgin complaining about how bad the sex is lately.
I think most people piss on new games because they either dont have the system specs to really play the game above the lowest level of detail or are sabatours from WoW trying to steer the player base away. First of all please dont comment on the graphics or UI if you are not playing the game on Maximum @ 1920x1200 because you are not seeing the game just a blur of it. Point 2, its time for a fresh start (hehe), what are you doing in most MMO's? PVE , sure some like Fury are PvP only but that got old as soon as I hit lv 4. PVE is here to stay with added pvp for sure. So back to the point PVE: WoW ...point and click elves and Orce EQ2 ...point and click Humans and Ratonga etc... This game is gonna suprise you, even though its not a planetside type mmofps its the best thing out here. Why play wow when I can craft forcefields and Holotech. WOW KILLER HAS ARRIVED! WOOTZ!!!!

for 1 quad core cpu's are not for gaming so nice workstation ya got there. and sli 8800gtx's would be way more than any board on the market could actually make use of since your nearly doubling the bus (while we do have dual/quad cards and cpu's they all still function on only 1 bus). to my knowledge there is nothing outside the medical/scientific community that can even use 8 gigs of ram, what are ya looking at MRI's in your free time?
really - it's a 22" wide-screen flat panel, 1400*900 is it's native resolution, puch it harder than that and they tend to go p00f early (I have yet to get the 1920*1080 42" plasma)

FIrst of all 64bit drivers are crap, better go check out some bench marks pal and downgrade to a 32bit vista setup. LOL, he has 8 gigs of 800 mhz ram? wow talk about cheesing out. Try mine (2 gig pc8500 1333 fsb)
I am no way an expert on computers but about a month ago I had a friend build my computer, I was faced with a problem. If I was gonna build a $2000 computer do I go with XP or Vista. So I did lots of research and this is my findings:
Vista- Good OS, however you must use 32 bit and stay away from 64 bit, (drivers and games cater to 32 bit ). Vista works different than XP and future service pacs will not change this, just make it run a little better thats all. How Vista works for games is it will use the graphics cards ram for graphics, and the computers ram is for all else. So you need a very very good graphics card for Vista, and it would be no better with more than 2 gig of ram. 64 bit you can use 4 gig, but 64 bit sucks.
I have Vista 32bit, Intel duo-core, with Nvidia 8800gtx graphics card and 2 gig of ram. In one month I played Bio Shock, TR beta, and back to WoW all at max settings and no probs at all, NONE. The EB Games guy would not sell me Bio shock unless I had a good system because of so many returns to the store.
So in a not shell if you would like to play any computer games from here on out you better spend big bucks, and I see no prob. with Vista for anything.
I don't know anything else about computers, but the above is all true just read ALL the Forums and call every computer shop in your area and you will find that every thing above is a fact !
actually the 64 bit os is more powerful, its vista that eats the weenie. 64 drivers only suck if you cant find them or get them working (which IS very common). until they get vista truly game ready its a b/s os with tons of stolen features (see beryl project) and nasty process overload. i realize in the long game vista will be way better for gaming, but in its current state you see more problems related to it than benefits.
no matter what o/s you use it can not counter the fact that this game is lacking in immersive game play mechanics.
note: you dont need any kind of degree to work at a game store so i think i would just toss their opinions out the window, their job is to sell games and peripherals (oh and strat guides to the kiddies).
Sighs..get over comparing new games to WoW. They are clearly NOT WoW. I offered or challenge all you WoW haters and folks that can't see the forest from the trees to actually speak to a dev from WoW and dev from any other upcoming game and tell them to their face that their game is like WoW...or "WoWish".
Good gosh, folks these comparisons have become as trite as some of the Korean grind-fest have become!

Must stay away from 64 bit OS.
