I've been excited about TCOS for a looooooooooooooooooong time, but I'm not about to judge a game before its even released.

Umm... Yeah.. Don't get too excited about it,
    it just wasn't all that...

Played so far: 9Dragons, AO, AC, AC2, CoX, DAoC, DF, DnL, DR, DDO, Ent, EvE, EQ, EQ2, FoMK, FFO, Fury, GW, HG:L, HZ, L1, L2, M59, MU, NC1, NC2, PS, PT, R:O, RF:O, RYL, Ryzom, SL, SB, SW:G, TR, TCoS, MX:O, UO, VG, WAR, WoW...
    It all sucked.

I think this will be a really good game and I really want to try it, but Im afraid about the fact that it doesnt have a pure healer class becouse I really like being a healer and, and this is the most important thing, a no-healer-class games tend to become a Potion-Fest and this usually transform a great idea in a boring mmorpg. If you dont think so try playing RF-Online or Archlord for a long time, they are fun in the start and then they become Boooooooring.

At least is my opinion. Anyway, I think  Tcos will arrive with a fresh air of new ideas on the scene.

Yes, yes indeed this game has been looking better and better.  Been tracking it for a long time now and hasn't dissapointed me yet.  It's a shame it isn't getting the attention it deserves on many US gaming sites though.  I think this is going to be one of those gems that will get many people's attention once it's up and running.  I'm defintetly on board with this game on launch day.

edited. I´ll ask this in a new thread.

I wish this game would get a US publisher so I don't have to be on a Euro server from the get go.

This games alot more innovative than any game out here, and as a fan of card games, the skill deck thing will be pretty cool. It looks amazing and cant wait for it to be released

I think you may be right, I have brushed off any interest in this game for some time, but after the death of my beloved G&H, I looked at this game with a new set of eyes. I must say now that I am interested in it, and it may be what we have all been waiting for.

mmmm yeeeah, thats greeat, a little to the left would be greeeat, ::sips coffee mug:::

I would have to agree, this game is going to potentially revolutionize the genre here.  The combat system looks to be really nothing short of incredible, and I cannot wait to get my hands on it.  I love the skill deck concept - a revolving tray of skills the number of which are available to you and the speed in which it turns being based on level and your character's attributes.  The idea that you will not have all of your skills available to you at any given time goes just that much further into basing this system more on player skill than anything else.

I was initially unsure about items not having any attributes assigned to them initially, as it made me wonder whether the game would get stale after a while.  After I learned a bit more though, I really think this system is going to work.  Aside from the fact that characters will still need to be a certain level before being able to wear some of the "higher-end" items in the game, the lore is what is going to more than make up for it.  Alright, before I just go fanboi crazy here in my first post, I will cut myself off.  All I can say is (echoing a previous poster), I hope they find a publisher in the US for this game, and fast.

I don't mind playing on a European server, but I'd prefer to not have to order the game and wait for it to float across the pond while everyone else is playing on launch day.

EDIT: Just *please* don't let SOE be that publisher!  I managed to drag a few of my friends to Vanguard, even after their SWG experience, and I'm hoping they'll forgive me someday.  I don't think I can convince them to go anywhere near anything SOE related again.

I have to agree, the more I read about this game, the more I'm looking forward to it.  Definitely going to be a sleeper of a hit, especially after the smokes clear sometime next year.  The genre needs to move away from the EQ formula, and this may just be the quiet pack leader.  I'm hoping for a smooth launch and all the publishing business goes well.

Can you imagine if they chose SOE aka Platform publishing  for their US release. I would freak!

<smiles> let me reasure you..... I have seen teh game live in action at the Leipzig Gencon, it is absolutely no vaporware.

I had handson contact with both TCoS and AoC and TCoS gameplay blew AoC out of the water.

Next to that they have one good publisher with Frogster.....

People that call this title Vaporware, do not know what theya re talking about.

MUCH better game on every level than the highly anticipated clonefest WAR.  This game deserves more hype and attention.  Definitely a syep forward for MMORPG's unlike the afformentioned 'same-ol but new'

Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.

BOYCOTTING EA / ORIGIN going forward.

After playing Tabula Rasa, Gods and Heroes, and Lord of the Rings Online, and watching and reading up on WAR and Age of Conan. I've decided to shift my focus to TCOS. Tabula Rasa is Everquest in a Sci Fi enviroment, Gods and Heroes was cancelled, and Lotro is Everquest with a linear storyline. After watching numerous AOC videos, i've got to say I hate it. After reading up on WAR, i've got to say it is basicly Dark Age of Camelot mixed with WoW . But on the other hand TCOS actually looks pretty promising. I've lost all hope for all other mmos and this is probably the only mmo in development left that will appeal to me. The enviroments and characters look amazing, the combat system seems very appealing, and the overall design of the game is incredible. I've got to say that the developers did a great job.

You can't say that civilization don't advance, however, for in every war they kill you in a new way.

Sorry to disagree, but none of the games you cited are anything like Everquest.

  • ThaneBThaneB Member Posts: 131

Oh sorry man I meant WoW, and no I'm not a WoW hater. I've just seen little improvements to the mmo genre from the games I listed above, they are like every other mmo with a few features thrown in to make them look original.

I thought so at one point, but instanced with FPS mouse and WASD movement? Nah.

  • AphexAphex Member Posts: 194

It's probably not as instanced as you think. The game uses "small" instances for certain quests/dungeons (like WoW, for example) and "large" instances for the world. This might sound bad, but in practice this just means that a second instance of a zone is started when the world gets too crowded for the game to handle. In other games this would result in massive lag/crashes.

According to the devs they've had stress tests where 500 people were in one zone and no big problems occurred, so the outdoor zones should almost always just have one instance, which is basically the same situation as normal MMO's.
