Blizzard seems to be doing what most mmo's don't. They are constantly actively trying to make their game even better.
I have played WoW on and off ever since it's release. The game just keeps sucking me back in! I currently do not play but, my roomy does - he has been telling me about all the new updates that are just around the corner and it's exciting stuff!
So far I've heard (I will read up on this stuff later) that they are making an engineering mount (gyrocopters or something like that - WOW!), I heard they are going to release a new hero class per every expansion - awesome.
I heard some of the class updates they are doing - quite impressive - I have an epic'd out gnome mage engineer so many of the updates effect my lil all powerful gnome.
Anyway, Blizzard yer getting yer hooks in me yet again!

WoW is far and away the best MMO out there could be why most games are PPO (Puny Pipsqueek Online) games, they don't get it. What we need is a representive population of WoW players to come here. A Vantard flames, 400 WoW players flame back! EQ1, EQ2, Eve, and all those puny games go to a 1.5 rating!
If you have any questions please ask. I have moved on to WoW from eq and no longer have any desire to play a dead game. Thank you. (posted by another selling his account in EQ1)
Though World of Warcraft is a fun, addicting game, like most products from Blizzard, it lacks the content and experience that MMO's need. It becomes repetitive and boring. One could argue that any MMO you play long enough would be the same, but WoW is on a different level. You have to dedicated yourself to the game to have a chance at competeing with others. For a first MMO, sure Blizzard did great. But it's far from a good game. In the years to come i'm sure they'll polish it to its potential but that's not now. Warhammer Online and Age of Conan will most likely blow it out of the water. I want to see how many subscribers they lose on release of those two games.
World of Warcraft is the only game that updates and makes expansions now?
Oh boy.
I would say this is truly not going to happen. Those 2 games will take some subscription base but they will definately not blow WoW out of the water.
Out of every 100 men, 10 should not be there,
80 are nothing but targets, 9 are the real fighters.
Ah, but one, ONE of them is a warrior,
and he will bring the others home.

Just by personal experience because I use to play WoW, i don't think you're giving those games enough credit. That, or you're giving WoW too much. Warhammer Online is what everyone who plays WoW talks about. It's the "New, better WoW". Blizzard of course will still have those dedicated players, but they will lose more than you think.
blizz isnt truely coming out with new things to make the game better they are doin it to keep subscribers. also the new hero class coming out soon is to push people into a tanking role thats it u need to learn to look through deception ive played wow since beta which is an annoyingly long time and now wow isnt so interested in making the game better they're interested in surviving a few more years thats all

7 million subs is far from being blown out of the water. It is also very hard to say either of the mentioned games will do that great until you have people that actually play the games and then keep their subscriptions after the initial free month from buying the game.
I used to play WoW and only reason I quit was because the game requires a lot of time invested to be anywhere near the people who can play for hours a day. I have also played many MMO and have seen these accusations from just about all the games out there and yet WoW is still going strong.
Remember Vanguard and LoTR were gonna blow WoW away too but it didnt happen.

first off i can said confidently that WAR. AoC, and even aion will take more then 1 mil. away from WoW. also all wow is is a glorified EQ and look at EQ the same thing will eventually happen to WoW its inevitable same for all MMOs WoW reign is over make way for next gen. MMOs

I understand what you're saying, and you're completely right. But WoW is a piece. It's dying. Everyone knows it. I'm really looking forward to WAR/AOC, and i'm confident enough that they will provide better game play than WoW.
Everyone has their own game style I guess.
[I still think more than 2 million will leave.]
why doesnt any 1 talk about AION AION = WAR > AoC
Aion doesn't look that good.
I haven't really read up on it but from what I have read it looks like it'll end up like Vanguard.
lol well then maybe u should actually read up on it cause its not like vangaurd
Blizzard's never impressed me with any of its game's (Warcraft/Starcraft) Even diablo to me was annoying.
Iv always hated those Games.
So naturaly i dint think much of it when World of Warcraft's Lauched.
Obviously Blizard had a very big fan base Already, i never new about, And it show's In there success.
But....
I came into the MMoRPG from a D&D stand pointe! Not a computer Fan base
Id like to know how many Player in Wow Were Huge Table top RPG gamers befor This game.
Like i mean they played it for years , not like a few months.....
If Blizzard was a machine maybe the patches would come out faster than every 3+ months. For having as many suscribers as they do, you would think the income would help speed up their development. I am not saying something should happen every week or even every month but at least every 6 weeks or so. I know the money is for servers, hardware, payroll etc but even other games with less than 10% their income comes out with faster updates.
I am currently playing WoW as I do off and on just because there isn't anything I would rather play. I am looking forward to AoC and WAR just for a change of pace but I still don't even feel those will be what I am looking for in a MMO.
I would say this is truly not going to happen. Those 2 games will take some subscription base but they will definately not blow WoW out of the water.

Those numbers were used as an example, however I have also talked to a few peeps who have second thoughts about War and will not be switching over, their reasons are unknown as far as saying anything else but then again this is hear say just as it is hear say all these people will switch.WoW will be around a lot longer then people think and its just a fact people need to live with, I mean hell there are still games out there that I thought would of died years ago.

ur friends having second thoughts is understandable but once WAR comes out i think they'll change their mind and btw i have $200 bet saying WoW dies within the nxt 2 yrs. any takers
Eve online: 160-180k subs
WoW: many, many more subs.
Patchcycle Eve: Major expansion (free): 6 months, many patches (approx. every month a patch)
Wow: Expansion every..decade? Costs too. Patches now and then, far from frequently.
Mmmmmh...

Too bad I dont know you in RL I would take that bet, an easy $200 in my pocket. The game is too big and successful to die that quickly unless your meaning of die just means a sub loss which happens in any game.Oh well I am done on the subject since we have sorta hijacked this thread and the original statement.

by die i mean lose over 4 mil. subs. in the next 2 years
Who cares how many subs WOW loses...?
If you are looking for something new and are excited about the games on the horizon then check 'em out and enjoy.
I like Skippy peanut butter, but when Jiff comes out with a brand new tasty treat, I will try it. Do I move on?
Who cares?
Doesn't mean Skippy won't ever sell another jar of their tasty concoction....
That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!
Hmmmmmm! Skippy!
WoW will never die. Too many people play the game and love it. Its like all the people who still play EQ what is it 6 years later? Now multiply that by 15x and you can get an idea of how many people will still be playing WoW in 4 or 5 years. The original poster is right the game is good. There have been plenty of people who have been burned by it but too many others think its the best thing since sliced bread. Why arent they defending themselves in this forum you ask??? They are too busy playing WoW. I dont play WoW because EQ ruined me for fantasy MMO's but I know a good thing when I see it and WoW is good.
I do.
Why? Because WoW is over-hyped. It is succesfull because it gets hyped everywhere, and, in my opinion, destroyed a bit of the nature of mmogs. Everyone tries to make a clone of WoW and only few try to do something different and innovative. In the long run, we will have many games that play like WoW, and few niche-games with different concepts, because the hype hypes itself.
Without WoW many other Devs would have the chance to grow up. That could result in better mmogs for everyone imho.
But maybe i should thank Gw and Wow, as they are keeping the kids away :P
Eve-online will outlast Wow, Uo will do too.
lol you never played other games then wow? blizzard is one of the worst companies when we talk about monthly free content updates. how many you got this year? 1 or 2 max thats pretty bad for a company that claims having 8 mill subscribers, if you look at other games out there they give about 6 to 8 free content updates year, while wow gave 1 or 2.
I would say this is truly not going to happen. Those 2 games will take some subscription base but they will definately not blow WoW out of the water.

People have been saying that for a few years now , lol. It isnt going to happen, to even suggest it will is pure ignorance. Not trying to be insulting ,,,,its just not going to happen unless something like a nuclear holocaust happens . Unless by dieing you mean losing 25% of its subscription base.
That being said though, i look forward to Warhammer, AOC or Aion. I really hope AOC is the better of the 3 as it has more applealing features.
