What kind of idiot would not buy SC2? The mother of all RTS. It is the best and only best game for strategy out there when it it released!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I loved the first one, I don't know. Probably, though I'm not expecting it to be spectacular, and I'm a little gunshy of Blizzard these days. Let's face it, the Blizzard making Starcraft 2 is not the same company that made the original, a huge chunk of the old school people have left.

    Nope.

I'm not really into strategy games, plus the people who made SC1 probably aren't even working at Blizzard anymore.

The only strategy game I ever liked was WC3 and the only thing I ever did with that was play custom games over Bnet.

My first problem with your post is that SC2 is probably not even being made by the origonal team.

Second thing is the game so far looks very generick ala C&C.

Thirdly RTS games ahve moved on since those days of SC1 [take Supreme Commander as an example].

Also there are many stratagy games which are better overall than SC1.

Probably. But I will check out previews and so closer to the release before I decide. Or even reviews.

I LOVE RTS games. However, I have not yet decided if I will actually buy Starcraft 2, despite being a huge fan of the first game, and I'll tell you why:

First off, the game looks like it should be an expansion, not a sequel. Blizzard has gotten too complacent with their games and they are now afraid to make any changes that they fear will drive away sales. This is a big no-no in my book. I don't want to pay $50 for an additional storyline, a few extra units, and upgraded graphics. Those treats are reserved for xpacs. . .

Second, the game in general looks to be an average RTS. We have come a long long way since Starcraft 1 (even Warcraft 3 is way old school now) and yet the gameplay looks almost identical to the first one. I have been playing World in Conflict, Supreme Commander, Dawn of War. . . the action in Starcraft 2 looks downright boring in comparison to those games.

Finally, and I guess this ties into my first reason, Blizzard is not the same company they were back when they created Starcraft 1. I'm not saying they are a bad company, but they just arent the same company that I loved. I honestly do not know if their games will be any good when they come out now or not. Its not like a few years ago when all I'd have to see is their logo and instantly pick up the game. . . times have changed, and so have they.

Like I said, I haven't yet decided whether I'll be buying SC2 or not, but I will be keeping my eye on the development of it. However, they have yet to win me over and have pretty much revealed all of the Protoss and Terrans. . . they only have one faction left to woo me and its not lookin good. The units I have seen of the Zerg didn't look that interesting.

    Eternally mine,
    Keebs

Most likely.  WoW showed me Blizzard has got some good games, so I borrowed WC2 from my friend, and I loved it, BattleNet and singe player.  I am getting the WC3 battle chest tomorrow and if I like it, then you can garuntee Starcraft 2 will land in my hands.

Lucky for me, my friend also has SC1 for me to try.

I suck at all RTS games... so I'll probably buy it, at least if some of my friends does it.

    Lol all of Korea?

As for mother of RTS, are you ^$%@$%$^ing kidding? CnC anyday. Star craft is war craft of the future, and all that was ganked off of Warhammers formula. It was just easier to rip ideas off back then and not be liable.

So technically...Warhammer is the mother of RTS's.

But yes I fully plan to buy it and get my ass kicked by a 67 year old korean man who has played the game 7 years straight due to I.V injections and human growth hormones.

HanbitSoft got the mother of all deals and got the rights to distribute StarCraft in Korea.  I wonder if Vivendi will use them as a distributer again.  I mean the last Starcraft game gave them the oppurtunity to spend $50 million on supporting IMC Games making Granado Espada, 4 casual online games, and porting Hellgate London as an mmo.
