A short question that has been bothering me.
-In combat, are you able to move and attack in warhammer. because i worry that the combat system would eb somewhat like that of Everquests...stationary.
However i would hope it be more like, pardon the refernace, but...more like WoW's, where it is possible to run and attack. does anyone by any chance have any info that would shed light on this.
I would be most appreciative.
P.s. this video gives me the hope that it is possible. http://youtube.com/watch?v=UQFR2iXMeZU (towards the last 30 seconds)
thank you for any concideration on my topic, i look farward to what you have to say.

I do really hope you can, cous its apvp game, and in pvp u have to move around and attack, eq2 was a pve game, and it was ok there, cous u knew where ur mob was.
I hope the combat system will be abit like wow
Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.
Yes you can run and attack. Of course casts and similar skills that need "charging" will be interrupted if you move in between. As long as you stay within range, you can attack, no matter if you or the target moves.
However because of the CD you can NOT move through other people like it is possible in WoW.
You cannot move through people? how is that going to work in an MMO? crowded cities would be hell to move through and people would make human ladders to climb ontop of stuff not originally intended.
are you sure this is correct?
-thank you for the responce
Ah, should have explained a bit more.
There are still things being tested about when Collision Detection will be applied but Collision Detection will only be on in PvP and I assume PvE areas, so in cities you can move through people (except during city sieges, since it's PvP then). About making human ladders: I don't know if you can actually climb on top of each other, but there are other ways to prevent it. One would be to have an invisible "ceiling" at a certain height that prevents people from climbing upwards. A Dev has mentioned that they work with these to avoid such exploits.
thank you for the reply, it was most helpfull
Actually CD only occurs in PvP and only against opponents. You can move through your allies in PvP and you can more through anyone in PvE. It basically prevents the cheese of moving through your opponent to interrupt a spell being cast and other side effects.
Of course you can move... What?
Here watch this video and just try to tell me that the combat is stationary.

It looks more stationary than wow tho and this is a good thing.
"Society in every state is a blessing, but government even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one ..." - Thomas Paine
all of your wind up attacks auto face the person your trying to attack and you cant move while doing them and thus gain no advantage to jumping and bunnyhopping around... may be why you dont see everyone doing it in the videos, also unlike wow where 80% of the skills are insta cast, war skills are next attack and stand to cast... as you can see by the cast bars.
I just hope they add stick and face commands like in daoc.
WoW had the least balanced combat system for pvp out of any game I have ever played.... and I have played since 1992
Amen to that :P
http://youtube.com/watch?v=atHQHAhMByY Start watching the vid at around 3:24
Still one of the best vids to watch a somewhat skilled player in pvp. He shows how fluid the game will be.
I love the combat in WAR so far from this vid and others, it looks to be a great medium between Daoc and WoW.
The same question was answered over on the Only-WAR.com forums with this video.

This 6-minute video was recorded at the recent GamesDay UK affair. For the first five minutes you see the guy playing an Orc Choppa and note that he is nearly in constant motion while fighting.
Also note that Collision Detection is active versus ENEMIES. You cannot simply walk through them like ghosts. (Blocking and shield walls will be effective.)
For the last minute he switches over to a caster. I personally think riding around on that magical disk will be very cool.
