PvP or PvE

I personally like PvE. Probably because i !@#$ at PvP. I know all about the TOME and I will be spending 90% of my time doing PvE. However, i am just wondering what others felt about the PvE content as it compares to PvP.

Possible points of discussion/Flame:

1. what do you like better? Why

2. What type of PvE do you want to see at level cap?

3. What do you think about the care-bears?

4. any other mindless thoughts you might have are also welcome...

FLAME ON!

Erm pvp hands down. It actually requires some skill, and its more fun seeing people whine in the forums than killing the same npc over and over again
    2. What type of PvE do you want to see at level cap?
    None what so ever

    Go play wow

i think PVP is way better cause its less structures and no so time consuming cause u can stop PVPing whenever but inPVE u have to finish that quest before u leave or finish the raid or w/e.

I actually like a bit of both. I enjoy pvp much more than pve, but sometimes you just don't have the time or the focus to pvp. That's what I use pve for, heh. Chances are if I only have 30 minutes to mess around, I'm gonna finish a quest, farm a bit or craft. Pvp usually involves some time getting set up, or stalking your prey, finding a solid group to run with, etc. and so on.

Also, if my wife keeps bugging me, or the kids are around, I usually won't pvp because I can't pay enough attention to the screen, but I will still do some pve.

I prefer more pve to pvp, but like the option that i can pvp whenever i can. Something like WoW pve server. I prefer to do quest and follow the stories and also explore the world.

Concerning level cap pve, i would really like to see character growth rather than always going to the same instances over and over again to get some gear so that i can proceed to the next instances to do the same thing! , this to me is simply lazy programming at its worst....

    k rant over......

edit: really cant wait to see how this game gona put crafting that will also affect the war...

A mixture between both, I love the fact that I can level through PvP.. but I also love to explore the world and get my ToK full.
    2. What type of PvE do you want to see at level cap?
Some nice raiding stuff. Bosses that need to be slain to get good crafting materials to make some uber axe. Stuff like that. Not the 40 man raid that was originally implanted in The-game-we-won't-mention.
    3. What do you think about the care-bears?
Do I look like I care, mister bear?

I personally like PvP but i think its only fair to have a PvP server as well as a PvE, Even on a PvE server you can enter PvP area's like capture the flag.... It can get a little boring to be killed 20 times or more by the same player or players who are 20 levels above you who have nothing better todo on a PvP server .

I like a mix of both, and I feel that having meaningful PvP and PvE is a concept that has yet to be fully realized in any MMO.  Sure WoW has a ton of high level PvE, bus most people don't have the time to commit themselves to a raiding guild and play 40 hours or more a week and possibly never recieve any reward. Heh, just getting to the level cap is frustrating to many.

I have mixed feelings about WoW PvP ( WoW references because I personally feel it offers the best PvE and PvP currently, you may feel differently and thats completly fine).  Class balance is done pretty well although the cookie cutter build syndrome usually prevails which a lot of people seem to hate ( I don't really prefer it but it's not a game breaker for me). The battlegrounds are pretty enjoyable but the major problem is, theres only four of them. Doing the same four BG's over and over gets pretty old, in my opinion at least.

Also the PvP aspect of the game turns into as much of a grind as the PvE aspect does, and half of yout team  afking in BG's just to grind honor indicates ( to me at least) that you have a problem in the fun factor aspect of PvP.

So if  Warhammer can implement a system in whichan average player  can log on, play for an hour ( PvE or PvP ), and feel as if he/she actually accomplished something ( and had fun), I think Mythic will have created a real winner. I think this is direction Mythic is headed, but we won't have any real  idea how it's going to play out till late beta/ release.

The problem with me is most games require some sort of PVE whether it be for gaining experience levels or for getting equiptment. Personally this is the reason I like WAR. I love how you can gain experience while PVPing. If I had it my way I wouldnt PVE at all. To me its just so boring and tedious.

  • a good mix of both is always good.  I can only sit their for so long killing a NPC and the same goes with other players.

In previous games i have always leaned heavily towards PvE. This is mostly because PvP has been pointless. Sure, pvp is fun ad all, but it hasnt given me the feeling of accomplishment i'm looking for.

In WAR, however, PvP actually has an effect, which means i will cetainly do my part in the war effort!

But as they say, war is everywhere. And as long as it's relevant, i see no reason to not have loads of pve content as well (don't confuse war with battle, they are to entirely different things).

    1. what do you like better? Why?

I normally prefer to PvP over PvE.  As to why, there is usually more competition and risk involved in the PvP environment (dependent upon the game).   Additionally, pvp can (again depending on the game) allow you to affect the game world in a more meaningful fashion than PvE.  That combination of competition, risk and purpose kicks in (heart rate increases, palms get sweaty, feet start tapping, eyes get big) and I have a crap load of fun.

    2. What type of PvE do you want to see at level cap?

None (I want it to be PvP at level cap).

    3. What do you think about the care-bears?

I'm not sure I get care-bears or their idea of fun (not that I need to).  Maybe it is because they have had a rough day at the office / school and they need something easy / chill to do that lacks any sort of consequence.  Personally I find that boring as sh..

Play your PvE game and have fun doing so.  I know some PvP folk try to change PvE games to more there liking but I figure let the PvE folks have their fun.  By the same token, when you come to Warhammer, please don't whine about it being a PvP centric game. If you want to kill 100's of tigers and bears so you can turn in there pelts for a quest reward there are games for you.
