I've played both Vanguard and EQ2, and from my experience, Vanguard has something EQ2 just can't quite touch. The world seems a lot more inspired and the combat system has a bit more to it. Diplomacy, constructing your own house and Guild Halls, non-instanced. However, I won't deny that there is a strong resemblance between the two games.
Vanguard is growing up now and starting to shine, these screenshots are beautiful.
Smedley already said they are not going to spend a lot of time on the engine, hence this game still will not run on the majority of computers out there. Seems like kind of a waste of time to me.
I really liked Vanguard in terms of gameplay and content, and even graphically it was perfectly acceptable. I stopped playing it because of the bugs that never got fixed and the fact higher levels farmed all the instances.
I thought it was a real shame it flopped... but i don't think new screen shots are going to alter that, however pretty they are.
Now that the game has been out for a while, are there still corpse runs and is it still virtually impossible to comfortable solo after level 25? Those are the two and only two things that kept me from playing it after beta. My computer runs it fine. But I play in spurts and don't have time to look for groups. I need to be able to solo, and I loathe the corpse runs. Death is handled so much better in the plethora of other games out there. I love the Diplomacy, the crafting, the fact that trees fall down when you cut them down.
Just those two things, solo-ability and corpse runs keep me from playing, but they're important enough for me to not sign up to play, so I'm off playing something else.

Can easy solo to 50, there are so many solo quests. You just got to find the camps youre lvl, but hey I like exploring and there is much to see.
These screens are looking awsome, they are from Acient Port Warehouse, the first raid zone. (Witch is part op Game Update 3).
Anyways back to play Vanguard,..... good luck and have some fun here.

Totally... because someone that solos to max level 50 instantly wants to change game play and start raiding!
I stopped playing it because the fact higher levels farmed all the instances.
What ?
Oh oh sorry... reading over it i would have presumed people could have seen what i meant to type if you ever played the game, or had any common sense. Force of habit.
I clearly meant to type something that = dungeon? Although it wasn't actually a dungeon like under a castle... so i meant to type "I stopped playing it because the fact higher levers farmed all the group required quest series / non-quest bosses that most of the time involved underground cavarns, but sometimes it was caves, oh and there was the underground tunnels... "

I like the DDO version of the beholder better. The graphics on it look better than one here. Otherwise, still nice screenshots. Thanks!

Promote what you love instead of bashing what you hate.
They can post all the screen shots in the world, but with the same old EQ2 mechanics, it's still the same game.

Why are they posting new screenshots ? Game has released already, this is just a sad attempt at getting the name on the news page.
