Agents have no heals of their own and they run out of MP heal pets they're allowed to use before long. Generally they're rather frail and not a prof you can go around soloing with. Crats have pets, can control a mob to fight for them and have good or maybe even the best crowd control nanos so could manage, but it won't be easy. Generally both of them are support profs.
He's not asking for a newbie prof but if those would be able to solo well. Besides, a doc for a newbie is a really bad idea. Sure they are always in demand for teams but teams want the docs to be twinked out to run the best possible heals and a newbie would have a harder time managing everything at once. A new player won't have the creds, gear or the know how to manage a doc very well.
Agents and crats are both poor solo selections for new players. They -can- solo, if managed by experienced players (and esp. if they have expansions) but would be far better to start with some other class for a first character.
Every class can solo decently but if I would have to play it again and solo a lot I would pick Adventurer (again) Atrox one for example
These are probably the best starting profs for a noob. Both are fun, too. I think adventurer is one of the best in terms of different abilities and survivability.

Adventurers are very well balanced toons. Strongest to weakest : Atrox(strength) , Solitus(basic), Opifex(Evades), Nanomage(Nano). Adv's can be played 2 ways melee and ranged. Most people like melee, but I went the rare ranged way. Go to anarchyonline.com profession page to read more of pros and cons for adv.
Both my mp and engi are good soloers, sure costly but that might not be a problem.
My fixer is having a bit of a problem though even if considered a good soloing class, he is not super twinked or anything but roots tend to drop close to instantly and the 10+ minutes snares seem to slow the mob for 10 seconds at best, recasting tend to drain all my nano and well the heal over time nanos are not enough to keep me alive, and the level locks on fixer nanos suck, feels like 75% or more of the nanos have level locks
At the lower levels the worst soloer would likely be a doc, takes forever to kill anything worth any xp, but now at 103 using 3 dots + a gimpy gun(my doc is nanomage so shotty skill is dark blue) i start to kill bit faster.
Enforcer is not as bad as one might think but sheesh the amount of treatment kits you use up to heal the massive hp is insane
Soldier does rather well to, my adv is bit gimpy i admit but fun and well i have some problems killing mobs not much higher then me, need better swords but lack skill and ip
Agent well mine is 84 now and that is my first ever char, taking on mobs my own level is fairly okey thanks to aimed shot, but he is not an easy soloer(rarely use false profession on him), my agent is opifex seems that is more or less the standard way, or well it used to be back a few years ago.
Crat well better then agent if you ask me but takes a lot of work with charm/calms and such, my crat is nanomage and well the low hp can get nasty, i rarely run out of nano on the other hand, trox have more hp but nano/nanoskills hurt.
Easiest fastest solo is definitely MA. The Enforcer is also a good choice.
Critical thinking is a desire to seek, patience to doubt, fondness to meditate, slowness to assert, readiness to consider, carefulness to dispose and set in order; and hatred for every kind of imposture.
Cheapest in the beginning. Eventually being able to compete with other professions pvm and pvp wise is going to be one of the higher costing profs. Cheapest professoins will probably be the soldier and keeper.
On the topic of soloers, the best endgame soloers are the Crat, Doc, and advie, with the advie coming in last. The Crat can solo some things the doc can't, the doc can solo some things the crat can't. Soloing as the doc however isn't going to be easy until you get into the higher levels, as it's pretty hard to get a decent weapon on pre 120ish. The Crat and advie however are good soloers 1-220.
MA I think is th best overall choice for a new player and as one that can be soloed pretty easy. Good damage output, good at staying on their feet, uber cheap to keep equipped, and decent heals. I also found fixer to be a very easy solo character when properly equipped at least.

Martial artist has always been the easiest proff and the cheapest to play for new players in ao
