US News
Joey DiFatta withdraws from Bayou State senate race, caught in gay sex sting

By Karyn Chenoweth Oct 9, 2007, 0:46 GMT

';
var PageContent= 'Another elected official was caught toe-tapping in the boys room.  The Times-Picayune reports yet another Republican was caught soliciting in a public restroom.

Joey DiFatta is the chairman of St. Bernard Parish Council and a prominent Republican leader (until 2004 on the GOP state party Executive Committee).

He just withdrew from his state senate race, after his arrests for lewd behavior in a public restroom were made public.

From the Times-Picayune article:

"The report said DiFatta slid his foot into the deputy’s stall and tapped the deputy’s foot. In the report, Conley noted that such activity is common among men to indicate a willingness to participate in sex.

The deputy inside the stall, Detective Wayne Couvillion, responded by tapping his foot, and DiFatta reached under the partition and began to rub the deputy’s leg, the report states.

The detective asked DiFatta, 'What do you want?' according to the report, and he replied, 'I want to play with you.' "

You know... taking an apolitical stance here... wouldn't anyone paying attention to the news figure out that this foot tapping thing is a bad idea?

    Just saying.

I guess when you're living a second secret life you get it where and when you can.

My question is, why can't people who are gay be allowed to be who they are?  Then this kind of crap wouldn't happen all the time.

I actually feel sorry for these Republican's.  Seriously, I do.  I couldn't imagine having to live the way they live just to maintain their political career amongst the voters.  It seems weird that someone can be a staunch conservative but just because they are gay Republican's won't vote for them.  So they're forced to have to sneak around in bathroom stalls.

To me a conservative is someone who believes in smaller government and lower taxes along with greater personal freedoms.  I guess I'm just too old school to understand today's conservatives.  But to me I would vote for someone if they steered this country in the right direction following old school conservative standards whether they were gay, straight, or whatever.  Just get the government to leave me alone and you're my candidate.

So, do you suppose that it's just random chance that this cop was in the stall next to him, or are thousands of tax dollars being spent on having police sit on a toilet all day?

Personally, the last one sounded more like a cop trying to make a career so he could write a book more than anything anyone should give a sh*t about.

I could care less what the man does in a bathroom stall as long as it doesn't involve children.

It's just more political smear campaigning. I think we should fire the entire government and get normal people in office.

Does anyone actually believe any of these old money rich people actually KNOW what any of the american people really want? Or just what all their rich cronies want?

    D.

Being gay is not a crime, but the acts performed are. It is called sadomy, and it is illegal im most if not all states. (even if you get caught doing it in your own home.)

I shoot for the curve... anything above that is gravy.

What amazes me is that the Democrats use this against the Republicans. The Demos point out that it is wrong for him to do this, to be gay, etc., etc., but then they are the ones trying to promote "gay rights". Go figure.

No one actually gets arrested for Sodomy (except in some weird case)... all these arrests are for soliciting sex in a public place.

I used to work in a county jail a long time ago. One prisoner was in for rape. They also charged him for sodomy. He received an additional 2 years for the sodomy charge. But, if sodomy laws were enforced, there would be hell in porno land.

They can charge it to rapists all day long and I wouldn't care. Anything to keep them in jail longer :)

The people I know that call themselves "conservatives" do feel that way.  It's the ones that call themselves "Republicans" that you have to watch out for.  Of course I feel that someone that actually labels themselves to either particular party has a problem, but that is another discussion.

That's a rather creative spin, good job. Ignore the hypocrisy of being anti-gay rights and gay at the same time. Meanwhile, back in the real world, most of the issue has been about the Republican party imploding. On the left, we just make jokes for giggles. The ACLU advocated for Larry Craig to be able to rescind his guilty plea. There's nothing wrong with being gay, and for me, this issue isn't about being gay. Honestly, I wish the lot of them would just come out already.

And for the record, laws against sodomy were ruled unconstitutional by the SCOTUS.

    WHAT???

Sodomy can be performed by heterosexual couples too.

Sodomy is not just anal- it's BJs too.  Some dumb religious thing about any kind of sex act performed that is not strictly for the purposes of procreation is evil... yadda yadda yadda.

Such laws only still exist in certain states for 2 reasons:

    1)  Who wants to repeal them and then be labeled pro-sodomy?

    2)  It's a handy tool to help law enforcement persecute folks they don't like.

Hope you got your things together. Hope you are quite prepared to die. Looks like we're in for nasty weather. ... There's a bad moon on the rise.

No, no, no... see, if Democrats didn't invent gayness and sodomy, well.. then Republicans wouldn't accidentally fall for our evil tricks and traps.  Or wait wait wait... I bet this guy is an evil Democrat posing as a Republican, just to make them look bad.

It's funny that gays can't just be accepted by these Republicans, considering there is a good chance that every single one of them is homosexual.  Oh well, it must be fun for them to just hate everything that is not them.  I think I would get tired of it fairly quickly.
