Fury and other games (such as hellgate london) that are coming out soon are all billing themselves as MMORPG's. I think that they are Massively Multiplayer Online Games. These games have as much to do with an RPG as lets say Battlefield 2142. The only difference is that you don't meet people in a "virtual chat room" like area and make groups to play with. I still feel like GuildWars was pushing it a bit but at least it is free. These new so called MMORPG's are making you have to pay for the "Elite" content.
I feel that a true MMORPG should be like all others and have an open game world where you quest and play with other people. This new breed of MMO should be classified differently.

IMHO I think Fury still should be crowned a MMORPG, it still is a MMO game with role playing aspects such as progressing your own character, playing key roles in a party/guild, collecting rewards, specs/stats, skills and powers etc. I see what you mean, that it does seem to drift away from the other MMORPG gameplay such as WoW's gameplay system. I guess they are trying to appeal to the action thursty FPS gamers such as me that attempt to get interested into the MMORPG genre yet find that most MMORPG games dont have as much action and control involvement like the FPS games tend to offer.
All in all, Im not down grading your thought/opionion but Im stating that "Fury" seems to be tilting allot more towards the action gamers rather then the traditional RPG gamers that are more interested in the real RP concept of MMORPG games.
And thats why Auran have never called Fury an MMORPG.

Actually at one point or another it has probably been called that. We've been through numerous stages of classification, but eventually settled on 'PvPMMO'.
I would not call it a MMORPG. Most MMORPG's are boring of late. Fury is not boring. It is a fast paced change. Once you play you will not be able to play a regular MMORPG if you are the type that plays FPS and MMORPGs such as Battlefield, UT but like spells and swords.
Fury is awesome.
They may not have called it one, but here it is on this site. This has absolutely no RPG at all. It you think so, then Chess has RPG value as well......
