Best MMORPG for PvP?

I was just wondering what game would be worth getting for it's PvP. I play World of Warcraft at the moment but wanted something else which is good for PvP.

There is some awesome grafic on that game!
But it's a rely hard game to play you cant make any good ships if you not heavy in to team pvp?

shadowbane..heavily influenced on PvP with some easy leveling at it if you are in a guild.

Ashersons Call hands down for me. The PVP in AC, was completely skill based. Not about your level or toon or leet items you had, just you and your opponents.
1 on 1s could easily last 20-30 mins. AC PVP was not meant for carebears, who have mostly ruined PVP and death penalty in other mmos.
I think one of the best PVP games out today is Dark Age of Camelot

guild wars very pvp based
May I also suggest GUildwars and DAOC, Both very good and PVP 24/7

Sad, but very true.
AC1, UO and EVE are the best PVP games IMO, nothing else comes close and/or gets old fast.
You could try Fury. New game focused on PvP
I am going to throw Guild Wars at you again...24/7 pvp and probably the best balanced PvP around.

Any game with instanced dungeons or level caps on who you can attack in not a good PvP game.
While AC1 Darktide is the best PvP game available, it could be so much better if a developer with a clue were to design a game.
DAOC is good for group PvP, but in DAOC, and EQ2 it's far too dependent on your class matchup.
If you want true pvp were pvp means something than try EvE online it has the best pvp system curently in the mmog market.If you just want the average respawn ,jump and mash keys pvp than DAOC or Guild Wars.
AC1 and EVE are currently the best by leaps and bounds. UO used to be fantastic, but that was a long long time ago. AC1 used to be far better as well, but it is still better than the competition.
At the moment, i'd have to go with EVE.
I disagree about EVE. The PVP can be good but the game is a niche product. It also can be extremely boring until you really get far in the game.
For just PVP only I recommend something like Counterstrike WoW deathMatch server rulesets. They allow for character progression and a purely skill based PVP environment.

I blame the devs for listening to their infernal everlasting whining, "gimmie more quests! death penalty is too harsh! I'm not unique! i hate gettin ganked I want 40 versus 40 fair fights!" Even though they form raids and zerg a solo raid boss for some reason its a crime when we do the same lol
flash forward to present day where most of us pvpers are hiding out in FPS like fallen Jedi praying that the whinners doesnt f*ck that up too for everyone too. "omg this friendly fire I shoot my friend can you please turn it off?"
Who cares if it's a niche product, like you said, the PVP can be good. That boring part you added is 100% subjective.

I never did the 1on1 PVP in EVE which occurs in 0.1->0.3 is my guess. I did the Alliance PVP in 0.0 which was totally amazing and newbies can play a vital role in a war. will probably resub in next 2-3 days right after i finish Oblivion.
Lol, Are you guys kidding? Guild Wars claims it is a pvp game but it is far from it. Guild Wars is like WoW pvp, (not really pvp). Shadowbane is outdated and the graphics are horrible. Not to mention it is a point and click game with a weird interface.
Everquest was the best PvP game a few years ago (at least it was real pvp). Eve looks good too
Guild Wars if you want fast PvP sessions. If you can get some friends to play with you it becomes even better.

EQ was never close to the best PvP game. UO was already better, and AC1 Darktide was far better than EQ as well.
It wasn't terrible, but the other 2 big mmo's of the time had amazing PvP.
EVE is the greatest screensaver ever
