The vitriol aside, the poster above who made the statement that GnH blatantly ripped off WoW with their talent tree was dead on. I was in closed beta for 5 months and I complained and complained about the eerie similarities between the original class trees and the WoW talent trees and nothing was done, no one from Perpetual even made an attempt to explain why their system was, in their opinion, different. Then when they recently revamped the trees the similarities were astonishing. The skills weren't simply "tank related skills" or "healer related skills", they were obvious ripoffs. With virtually every fantasy game that comes out there are unfair comparisons to WoW just as their were unfair comparisons to EQ when WoW was in beta, but this time I think the criticism was fair. The straw that broke their back was when they finally admitted there were no plans for either PvP or crafting at release.
I had to wonder at that point if they had really thought things through when they started development.
I took part in the beta, and while probably not a game I would have played in the long run, it's always sad to see so much development, modelling, animation work, etc counting for nothing!
I hope this is not the same fate for STO. Of the two games STO is the one I would prefer to see done and done well. Personally I think they made the right choice.

Although I normally would agree with you being a rabid Star Trek fan I have some dire news for all of you that think the Star Trek name alone will save PE. Although I'll admit that some Star Trek fans will buy this game just because the name "Star Trek" will be printed on the box I don't see even them playing it for very long if the development keeps going in it's current direction. A lot if not most of the Trek community is up in arms over the way PE and specifically Daron Stinnett is pissing on the IP. Just head over to the STO forum here on MMORPG.com and see for yourselves the uproar that has been going on since they announced that player owned starship interiors would add nothing but role playing aspects to an MMORPG and decided that they didn't need them. They have decided basically to remake EVE with a WoW ground game and a lot of people have already just given up and walked away from this game. Not to mention comments like "There is still plenty of time to cancel your subscription" and "We're not making a game for Trekkies, We're making a world class MMO" from Stinnett have just fanned the flames so-to-speak.
I personally think the way G&H made it into late closed beta and the fact that they were even selling pre-orders for the game right up until the point where they declared it vaporware and ripped it out from under the loyal fans of the game speaks loads about their business practices. Then they basically posted a very nicely worded announcement to their loyal fan base stating how pleased they were with everyones efforts where G&H was concerned but they have decided it's vaporware so bugger off.
I'm sorry for the people that were waiting for G&H and I do hope they find their game eventually but if you think it will be STO you may be setting yourself up for another downfall. My best advice is unless PE changes direction away from a combat oriented arcade type Star Trek MMO (Like all the other games that failed horribly with the fan base) you may not want to get your hopes up.
Graphics rich and content poor can best describe this game. You would have people complaining about it within the week. No crafting, come on, name a successful MMO without crafting. Best it fades into the sunset.
The only bad thing to come out of this, Pepetual still has the STO license to mess up.
I am bummed they got rid of this game. Yes it wasn't perfect but it was fun to play. I can't believe that they dropped G & H to support star trek. Yes many people will like star trek but I don't think you should place the reputation of your company on a niche (sci-fi vs fantasy) market.
Most of what zOMGREI rants is simply worng, don't want to discuss it further. PE did some things seriously wrong. Doing an MMO is unlike doing normal games. PE did not start working on one but two(at least) without experience and payed for it. The graphics have been ok, the quests have been ok, the zones have been ok, but content and stability have been lacking. Even stable it would have been not enough for an successful start in the MMO world. It was all pretty average with the exception of the 'Rome Fealing' with they did great.
Try baiting a little more. If you claim I've said something wrong, then back it up; instead of simply saying "OLOLOLOL RONG!11!!".
I'm not the only one that saw that the talents, class system, and skills, were a direct copy of WoW's with the names changed. There was a reason most of the updates about the game were lore related and graphics related, instead of information about game mechanics.
We're talking copy and paste level stuff here, people. Considering that they plagiarized such a large portion of the game, I have to question how much of the other content in the game was actually "original", and not just direct copies or "slightly modified" versions of other people's work. I wouldn't be surprised if, one day in the future, I see a model or texture that was used (or "borrowed and changed slightly") for the game on some community site that they nicked it from.
If this game had made it to retail, I wouldn't have doubted that we would have seen lawsuits galore.

I think we could do without the personal attacks.
I couldnt agree more..... LuRavi, if you want to post BS like that, go the wow boards. You will fit right in there
