Wanna go back to AC, but worried..

So I started with AC as my first MMO, back in probably 99. Absolutely loved it. Spent many all nighters into the next day playing AC.
As other MMO's have come and gone, nothing has felt the way AC did. I'm not sure if it's cause it was my first MMO or what, but man I loved it. With a lot of free time on my hands these days, and reading these forums and realizing AC is still alive, and even after all the macros and stuff, it still sounds good. I'm just worried that after coming back so late, I'm not gonna have anyone to run with, blah blah blah.
I would also love to role a character on DT, but I mean come on. In all seriousness would I even have fun starting a new character?
So even though I know everyone who still plays will encourage me to start up again, and I'm sure I will with the 14 day trial, is there anyone who could help me out, or give me some advice. Probably gonna role a mage. Never was one. Was always a swordsmen, except a few low level alts.
Anyways, yea, open to any suggestions.

DT is the most populated server, you shouldn't have any trouble finding people.
I'm an AC noob that recently became interested in playing and I'm now checking out the free trial and all. Do you plan on playing on the DT server? That is my current plan at the moment. If so, it could be fun to get together in-game, assuming we play at similar times and such. I'm rarely at home from work before 7pm CST.
Ac is still one of hte most original MMO's out there with the closest thing ot twitch you can find. But the bugs and the lag are still hard to bypass since its basicaly making the game hurt. I still say that it is one of the best outthere. Just needs the code rewritten to get rid of some of those damn pestering bugs.
