People in glass houses shouldnt really throw stones...dont you think. Are there no people too talk too any more in the vanguard forums.....?? I see Lord of the rings online with still twenty five servers worldwide, NOT 10 servers that have recently been merged into 4. Perhaps you should be more concerned with the state of your own games you subscribe too as opposed to one you beta tested and moved on from after rightly deciding "in your opinion" it was not for you.
I play on the Laurelin server in europe and our population is fine thanks. My kinship has over 30 active members that play very regularly and are not in the least disappointed with their experience. We are still recruiting and see the starter areas with a healthy amount of activity.
You know what i find really NICE Matraque is the ability to play an MMO which at release includes the following features:
1. Production ready stability
2. A high standard of QA at launch
3. Multi threaded application code that utilises my new processors technologies and both its cores.....(I Know it gets better)
4. Anti Aliasing (incredible isnt it?)
5. Scalability across hardware and graphics settings (So my friends can play on all sorts of computers and not be conned into thinking unacceptable production code "just" requires moores law of hardware evolution)
6. Crossfire / SLI Support
7. Future scalability to Direct X 10 (Which i believe all being well will be with us in the next update to our game Book 11, You See because the developers of our chosen game subscription concentrated on polish and a production ready finish at release, their pre live targets became content updates and regular ones. Its a great business model.....)
8. Dynamic lighting and Environment drop shadows actually an engine that supports most of the Direct X 9 Specification....possibly why LOTRO is one of the better looking MMORPGS out there....
9. I wasnt crashing to desktop every hour up to 4 months after the launch of a product that was deemed in the eyes of its developer ready to demand money and subscription from the general public.........I could really sit down and play my chosen subscription in a great fantasy online world......
10. You know i love not having to flush my own graphics cache because its bloated with disgarded data no longer in use...i can get on with using emotes and other / commands rather that /flush......its fantastic!!
I've been hearing "rumors" ill call them for now rolling about my server and increasing in number about some of the low pop servers merging and i've been looking for a thread or anything ...
My server is having the same issue as well, and I have been in the process of making a petition to merge our server with another. Difference is Horde is much more active than Alliance on our server...
Q u o t e:yes, merge all the RP servers to European realms. next put all pvp servers to PVA (player versus all) then you can gank anyone. Take your meds...
I agree. Delete some servers and move players over to low-med servers. Just make sure to take a look at the ratios of alliance to horde before merging 3 horde heavy servers. That wont help anything...
Well come on, you can't compare the two. WOW has 250+ US servers .. they openend too many when the expansion came out and all the server hoppers went crazy , rerolled and quit. I was one of em lol.
yea they have a good number of rather dead or low pop servers but thats nothing really, just people get reroll-itis and everyone leaves the dead servers.
A few threads ago weren't you all just arguing about whether the game had 800k or 250k? Now someone is yapping that they should merge servers?
Whatever.
This game seems to have drawn a lot of amateur accountants or statisical analyst or something. The best were the size of the world post. The ones were we all figured out the square footage of the gameworld lol. I really enjoyed those back before launch.

Ok Sure.
You see the points i have highlighted above in red are certainly things that i like to know have been covered in a good standalone title let alone a subscription title and im sure a good percentage of the games playing public is of similar opinion. And gladly i think with LOTRO the priorities were in the right place because these things in my opinion were covered. They dont just simply make the "title look better".
More Importantly my retort to yourself was really aimed at having more to say and post in your own chosen subscriptions titles forums than this one. Considering you dont even play Lord Of the Rings Online i would say the motives of your post and its intent here on our games boards are at best questionable.
Lest i remind you that at least one of the titles you subscribe to currently had an incredibly luke warm reception into the genre and began to become so unpopular that a new lead designer had to be integrated into its development team to inject life and bring the game to the mainstream (But not massively popular) state it is in today. The Other title played by yourself...mmm suffice to say based on budget possibly one of the worst launches in the history of the genre...neither of these issues "have" plagued LOTRO and neither does it look like they will.
I think your posts objectives are exceptionally questionable and i would like to add you dont see me now as an "ex vanguard / ex EQ2" player in the vanguard / EQ2 forums drawing attention of the forum users about "negative" or "decronstructive" posts based elsewhere..........because trust me my friend......if i was that desperate with something to do with my time......

That is what forums are for
Now, let's have fun! If you want to come in the EQ2 forum and destroy it, please be my guest!
As for VG, sure, it was far from ready at release... Everyone knows that. Turbine made a choice. They decided to polish over content at release. Fine, it got mad reviews because of that. Now, it got re-reviewed by a lot and it's not that shiny. Why do players feel the need to quit around lvl 30?
Now, turbine will add so many features and content that their is a danger of breaking stuff. I won't be surprize that you will also have to pay for it soon, very soon...
11. Turn up the color on the art and leave it that way, just like you turn the faces red on people watching TV and now you get the general idea behaind the art direction... If you want to change it a bit just turn the color up even more.
At least in the game your opposing has abit more mystique and dusk world. LOTRO is just that pastel colored happy t-shirt.

There are several games with boards on this website that I think are complete crap. However, I don't hang out on the forums for games that I dislike trying to antagonize their fans. I happen to think it's assinine to do so.
I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.

Well youll have to forgive me that i do not concur with your usage and belief in the role of a forum. And you certainly wont find me hanging out in other games boards antagonising their fans. I just dont work that way, i have no hidden agenda to fill. And i will always objectively balance negatives with positives.
Your Correct Turbine did make a choice, and to be honest with you our game the game that i subscribe to along with people here on the LOTRO boards does have its problems, of course it does...the lack of high level content and Instance/Raid based content being one of them. Im educated enough and mature enough to fully admit the flaws.
However I would much rather have a very stable and polished engine and code base in a game at launch with content coming later as the main production drive and focus as opposed to a game that oozes content none of which is playable because the code and engine are so so crippled at launch. It should be noted that the second is a far worse hole from a developing standpoint to dig yourself out of than the first, trust me i know . Thus why vanguard is "still" currently in the state it is in 10 months after launch.
Im also privledged to be part of the test servers population for LOTRO and i can tell you that although there are some items which are currently rough (Direct X 10 rendering implementation for example) i dont see us paying any time soon for Turbines very wise decision in terms of a polished product business model, sorry to burst your bubble.
Keep it coming Matraque, because i enjoy nothing better than kicking antagonisers like you in the teeth.
I concure with mag. Book 11 is on the test server and runs great. I don't have vista so i can't check out the DX10 rendering. But you know what. I don't need too. The game looks and runs awsome with DX9. I don't have to have all the latest bell and hoopla in order to enjoy a game.
My kinship is growing at a steady pace. I even have game designers who are members of my kinship from other games. And they love the game. Imagine that someone who is in the gaming industry loves this game. I take their opinion over games and what is good and not anyday over someone who has never been involved in making one.
I know that LOTRO has it's flaws. There are things i wish they would of done better or differantly. All games are like that.. Some are just alot worse than others and more obvious in my opinion.
People in glass houses shouldnt really throw stones...dont you think. Are there no people too talk too any more in the vanguard forums.....?? A very clever attempt at twisting an opinion by cutting off the majoirty of my last post there for my closing comment which contained many valid points you have simply stopped being bothered to answer...it looks like your little personal crusade against the LOTRO forums might be tiring out your limited vocabulary.
So instead you just show the close of the post as a single one liner, so i have included the full context of my argument for you...

Strange indeed....
Well it's basically 7 pages of people debating if the population is going down or going up. Both sides are pretty loud.

It was a troll post.. just like yours was.
From your sig you don't play LOTRO anymore, so why should it matter?

I see Lord of the rings online with still twenty five servers worldwide, NOT 10 servers that have recently been merged into 4.

Yes please do.Cause what you listed does not make a game. It just helps it make it look better.

That is what forums are forNow, let's have fun!

Kind Regards
Mag
Some are just alot worse than others and more obvious in my opinion.
the everquest 2 fanbois have been invading several forums recently with their marketing campaign-best to just ignore them.
Why? Starting to think they are right and scared that others also will reconsile.
I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.

11. Would you like me to continue..............

Yes please do.Cause what you listed does not make a game. It just helps it make it look better.
I would have alot more ammunition than you......

That is what forums are forNow, let's have fun!
Kind Regards
Mag

But i don't feel the pain at all I predict a paying expension in the next 6 months They will have too... Cause it seems that they are milking that 7 days trial again. It makes the front page look ugly

Nice try
A very clever attempt at twisting an opinion by cutting off the majoirty of my last post there for my closing comment which contained many valid points you have simply stopped being bothered to answer...it looks like your little personal crusade against the LOTRO forums might be tiring out your limited vocabulary.
So instead you just show the close of the post as a single one liner, so i have included the full context of my argument for you...
