Does what it says on the tin. Which feature in Hellgate:London are you most excited about? Is it the ability to go FPS style in 1st person view? Or the entire loot system? Maybe the setting? Or the randomisation?
Personally, I'm the most excited about the fact that I get to play a wicked fast action game with my friends who all got gameless after we quit WoW. That, and the ''What drops on your screen, is yours'' loot system is awesome.

I like tohose weapons and armors of templars. swords and guns combined with magic.
I allso like the map. City in ruins
Randomization - you never know what is waiting for you once you leave the safe area I hear that even the monsters themselves have some randomized features
Usually I detest instancing in MMORPGs (i got GW as a present but never played it for more than a week - I do hate instancing) however, in this case instancing is perfectly justified for me if it makes this level of randomization possible.
The second place for me would be the emphasis on masses of mobs rather than taking one at a time. Frankly I'd like to see some insane situations like 50+ of them running toward you, somewhat like the psychodelia Serious Sam games had a few years back.
Just general excitement here, and anticipation.
I have to admit first off when i played guild wars i couldnt get into the instancing of the whole thing, but recently after taking a break from WoW ive grown to enjoy playing GW again in the break period between now and Hellgate.
I think the plethora of playstyles will be its biggest winning though:
Offline Single Player campaign
Online Single Player campaign (with team mates)
Online ongoing multiplayer community and content
3rd Person and 1st Person
usually i think of these situations as 'fingers in too many pies' but if flagship can pull off all of these to a decent quality (theres always room for improvement in content patchs and such) then they will be onto a winner for sure.
The biggest draw for me is the item distribution system, which will be heavily randomized ala D2. Not only will the drops be available on randomized bosses, and don't require the annoyance of raiding; items are also heavily randomized, in that the same weapon has many different randomized stats. This means that although you may find the uber sword of ownage, somebody could still find a better uber sword of ownage with better stats then yours, or vice versa.
EVERYONE has the possibility of finding great items in this game, unlike WoW where only the no-life raiders have a chance to find good gear. It is the ultimate game for both casual AND hardcore players.
Obviously, we all know that a game needs more then the endless gear grind to be good, so I'm sure that there is some concern there. But as far as I'm concerned, all I personally need is the endless gear grind. To this day, my endless gear grind in D2 was still a vastly superior game experience to any MMO I've ever played, despite only running three bosses over and over again for months. Perhaps I'm just easily satisfied, but to be honest that doesn't really bother me.
To tell the truth, I have heard the words "Hellgate: London" a lot, but I don't know much more about the game than the fact that it's a FPS MMO hybrid type...thing. I'm hoping maybe that my lack of drooling before it comes out will give me a "fresh" trial in the sense that I won't be pre-hyped and let down, which seems to be the usual for me as of late. =(

The above post is purely my opinion. If you disagree, that's your right. However, don't be an ass about it.
I'm looking forward the the fast paced combat. I'm bored of the 1 on 1/2 slow pace that most MMOs have.
Also I like that I don't have to get 20-40 other people together to kill the games baddest boss and get the best gear.
i wont be giving 10 buck per month for a game that isnt a mmorpg..
that a complet ripoff no matter how good the game is.. that almost the price of a mmorpg .. wtf
i could jsut play the "normal game" without subscribing for the elite right ? and give up on more classes, more weapons, armors, armors customisations, guild creations (?) , more zones, more mobs ... nah screw that i wont give my money to EA on that one
well you don't have to pay the 10 dollars a month, and I have no idea yet what it will bring. But if they do a good job at bringing fresh content every month, even if it's a few new bosses or whatever, I'm cool with that. Or even if they feature a pvp system of some sorts, that would be fun too. If the support sucks and the content sucks, then I will just play normally and not worry about it
You think your getting a good deal paying 15$ a month for an mmorpg?
Theres a reason why mmorpg are being made en-mass, and its not because they are using the monthly charge on the servers.
depends on the MMO I guess. I think about how much it would cost to go out for a night, or to the movies 2x a month? The entertainment value you get for paying 15 a month is pretty decent when you really think about.
Paying a subscription fee isnt bad at all, if you like the game enough is the way I look at it.
I think alot of companies are using this type of procedure now. I think PlayNC is doing this type of method with their Dungeon Runners and with games like Archlord and even Anarchy Online.
I dont mind forking money over to a game that can keep the fun factor alive and rewarding.
Hellgate is not a mmorpg, not even close. Its more like between Diablo 2 and GW.
The game is fun as hell and its probably what every diablo fans have been looking for (i love those games too) and i dont usually mind paying for a good online game. The money here is not the issue really.
Fact is i have to buy the game at normal price ( here about 55/60 bucks, have fun with it and then realize how the game is incomplet without the monthly fee.
So you dont mind paying every month for more content in a diablo like game ? good for you i wont. That not different than haveing to pay a monthly fee for lets say ETQW to have more maps, more classes and more gaming options.
PS: dont missunderstand me, the game is great that jsut the marketing policy that disapoint me.
This game is amazingly fun.. Outstanding..
But I'm with the others. The subscription fee totally turns me off. It's not a regular MMORPG and a fee just doesn't seem right. I don't get it. There were never any monthly fees for diablo or guild wars, and the game is completely comparable in the terms of content. It's unjustified to me... Unless they have a team of developers constantly working on releasing new content and greatly enhancing the game overall, they will not get one penny from me in the form of a subscription.
Before I start im going to admit to being a HGL Fanboy.
That said, I think the subscription will be justified if you bothered to read up what they have planned for subscribers. The reason they started the whole subscription service and not just kept it a multiplayer action-RPG is because they saw the MMO potential in this. I'm not talking more storage space and extra weapon skins that your paying for, I'm talking:
Complete areas that are elite only
Raids
New classes
Special events (think x-mass)
And overall more content to fit an MMO. Tho we'll have to see how well they upload content and appeal to the MMO crowd about a month after the release, I will be subscribing from day one because Flagship just has my complete and utter trust.
To all people who still are complaining that this isnt an MMORPG, please wait til a month or two after release and you will most likely be proven wrong. (note that im not saying its a traditional MMORPG like WoW or EQ2, but it will be an MMORPG).
http://www.hellgateguru.com/2007/05/elite-subscriptions-995-a-month-and-other-details/
Those are the exact details for the subscription plan. As for those saying it's not an MMORPG, you are right and wrong. There will be instances where you will have to party up with other people to tackle other things, but for the most part, this is a game that you should be able to solo. That's why there is no supportive class. Each class should be able to kick ass.
Yes, it's 90% solo-able, but it's still an MMORPG since the option to group is there. Infact, you even get loot bonusses and exp. bonusses for grouping (esp. since dungeons are scaled to group size once you enter it).
Tabula Rasa arguably has no real supportive classes, and is completely soloable aswell. They just fucked it up by not giving any benefits to grouping into a dungeon.
I didn't say Hellgate wasn't a MMORPG =p. I read somewhere that the creator wanted to think that i was one, but a lot of people didn't agree. I guess it's really up to whoever plays it.
As for no supportive class in Tabula Rasa.....huh? What i ment by a supportive class is a class that's supposed to be designated to doing things such as healing. Medics could be such a class. I heard that most people could solo, just that once raid content comes out and such there won't be much soloing. I also willing to bet that somehow NC is gonna nerf classes or make monsters harder so that you gotta party.
Well JaeSwift the thing with no support classes is that this is a game by the people who have made Diablo 2, where there were no support classes at all either, but it was still ridiculously fun and entertaining.
And about the solo if you remember playing D2 offline ya you can beat it but its much harder and annoying. Also I believe that they will probably have the more players harder monsters situation as like in D2.
I'm so excited about this game, D2 was amazing and this game is D2 on the craziest steroids you can find!
With the rest of the randomised system, i think the monsters will scale up in numbers and difficulty depending on how many, and what level the players are entering the instance... so it should always be a challenge even if you go back to the first zone and pop in at a level 'much' above it.
which is nice
Even if they didn't have a dedicated team for new content, I'd still be happy to pay a monthly fee for enhanced online security such as dupe prevention.
When games are free, such as in D2, you end up with everyone and their dog easily breaking the game because the company will not utilize costly developer resources to fight the hackers. If that's what you guys want in a competitive item-based game, then there's a free version available for you. If, however, you're like me and want to actually put up a fight against the botters and dupers, then take a stand and pay your monthly fee.
Nah, i ran itno a lowbie map, that was 5 levels below me, and blew everything up.
It was fun, and i still got some decent gear to dissassemble

Not to sound like a whiner, but thats a violation of NDA.
Also, it has been confirmed time and time again that the dungeon scales to the party sizes for sure. So the difficulty, total amount of monster hp and maybe damage will scale up depending on group size (max is 5 I believe).
No level scaling it seems:
"David Brevik: The monsters do not scale to the players' experience levels. They are a set level range for that particular section of the game. We just try and track your level with theirs to keep an even difficulty."

Yeah, its the randomization of levels and items. Hopefully we'll see rich item statistics and not the dumbed down equipment system of WoW et al.
Diablo 2 to date have the best item/loot system of all rpgs in my opinion. Such diversity, so many possibilities of different successful character builds, that plays entirely different.
Edit: About monthly fee, of course there is a need for a monthly fee to combat hackers and exploiters. Any competitive game that allows for hackers = a dead game.
Ooo, it seems the actual level layout changes each time you go in, i never knew that i just thought it was monster placement, numbers, level ranges that changed... so going into the place once the entrance and exit could be near each other... another time not?
Bloody Brilliant.
Also liking this breaking down loot into components that you can use to upgrade existing weps/gear
