It sounds amazing.  So much content. Ships, mounted combat, realistic bow and arrow, burning buildings =D.  Almost too good to be true.

they planing a 2008 release i wonder if mmorpg can add that XD

im pretty positive about the beta starting This year

  • daarcodaarco Member UncommonPosts: 4,276

Nothing in that review sounded bad.

Not even the part that you need a skill to not show up on the radar, it sounds logical that you need to train the right skill to do it.

  • Xion187Xion187 Member Posts: 141

lol the radar thing i dont think you need the skill but with out it it will be eayser to be spotted on the rader but you can still hide from it is what im understanding i prefer not to have it

  • daarcodaarco Member UncommonPosts: 4,276

    Yep, anyway it sounds good.

I liked the naval part the best.

  • Xion187Xion187 Member Posts: 141

    Very nice.

I know I would love to see this hit beta, as would about half the other members of Sturmgrenadier :)

Oh I didn't mean to come across negative - I've been registered on DFO forums for couple years now. About same time interest along with AoC =)

I keep tabs on DF everynow and then, but really keep getting dis heartened with lack of proper progression with the game. I think its worth checking out from time to time for any passer by on the off chance that all the things they have said would possibly come to fruition one day.

Some of my first posts on this forums were in favour of DFO! These days I have to move my interest on and new things catch my eye and hope.

If Adverturine released a 1/4 as much as what Funcom have done for AoC, I'd be fighting in DFO's corner more. Im just disapointed they couldn't sort out the publishing for the game sooner. Only time when DFO pisses me off is when some extreme fan comes and rubs crap in my face, but I still have respect for the potential the game could be - Its a massive undertaking, in an ever evolving genre, making it harder as time goes on.

Try to ignore the hyping but there is still something intriguing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlV3iTzAf9U

    About myself

I have been playing MMO games for more than 10 years primarily with the Lords of Death. The Realm, UO beta, UO through the bla bla bla blabla blabla blabla blabla blabla blabla blabla bla vbla blabla blabla blabla blabla blabla blabla blabla blabla blabla blabla blabla blabla blabla bla mass gold dupe exploit and early UO dread days. The worst MMO game I ever played was WoW.

    lol                                                   agreed     ^

  • daarcodaarco Member UncommonPosts: 4,276

Well, you have MMOs as WoW in the one end of the "spectrum", and MMOs as DF in the other end.

And it must be hard to enjoy both. Regarding WoW, its the same for me.

I actually play and enjoy both ends of the spectrum plus everything in-between that is decent.

well that might explain why AoC is going to be mediocre at best while Darkfall will be the new dawn of gaming? I mean it seems to me Funcom is much more interested in plugging their game then actually making it. The Darkfall devs on the other hand has a game that like they say, will speak for itself once it released.

  • strongaxestrongaxe Member Posts: 848

Time will tell which game delivers, but just going off the features darkfall is the winner hands down.(if everything makes it in that is)

What explains how AoC is mediocre? That they put out media? Its basic math - Employee amount Vs Employee amount in relation to quality. And for the record I'd say 30% of the media AoC has put out so far is Mediocre. But its still 130% more than Adventurine has. (See my comment about extreme fan trying to rub shit in face quoted before)

Look there is no point in having one of those conversations or having one of those opinions yet. Its like when two people have a "my dad is better than your dad... because!" convo. Point is you haven't got much to back up the grandious claim of  -  "The new dawn of gaming".... come on!

Im disapointed in the substance released. - Yes I have about 1.5gb of HD space of Darkfall stuff accumilated already.

You know it doesn't take alot of effort to release stuff periodically, thats why im on the back seat at the moment. Doesn't mean to say I wont be attending full stop. Im not gonna argue here, I still have respect for the potential that Darkfall could be. But its still that, just like any other game being made, "potentially awesome"

There's this one thing that keeps bugging me (same thing with the other "quickie" roundup).

Not even one single bad word. Sorry but to me it makes it less.... hmmm... trustworthy.

I will still follow this one cause I think it would be something refreshing in the mmo scene.

Tho I really don't like it that most people have a black & white opinion when it comes to mmo's. Where's the grey! A game can never be perfect and I rather have some realistic view on it rather then some "Hype" or Text written on pure first impression adrenaline.

    Anywho my 2 cents.

That was a L33T preview. Thanx ASP.

The preview sounds incredible!  I hope the game lives up to it.

    I especially enjoyed these parts:

You can kill anyone. Everything in your possession can be looted. No one gets claim to a kill as a corpse can be looted by an unlimited number of people. Kills are recorded. You will know who you have killed as well as who killed you.

Sea battles. This is something that can add a lot of fun to a massive game. A party of people being good with ships will be very valuable in many ways. They can transport troops and resources. They can raid coast lines, give support to coastal battles with its canons or just plain rob other ships as pirates for fun and profit. There is a lot of thought put into ships. There are different sizes ships from a 10 canon ship to huge 50 canon ships. One person can mount a canon and use it to shoot at people, shoot at other canons, other ships, coastal buildings, npcs or whatever else. If you have 50 people on your 50 canon ship you can dish out some serious damage. That is, unless the enemy boards your ship, kills the captain (also a player) and turns the whole ship around so your canons can’t aim at the target. If the ship sinks and you are on the lower decks, you sink and die with it. Imagine 50 guildmates trying to escape a sinking ship through the narrow doorway going onto the upper deck. Each trying to push their way through and what it would be like if a couple of enemies are at the entrance pushing back and killing people.

People keep saying that we learned noting new from ASP’s visit. I disagree! Have you  noticed this?

“By the time I was done, my orc looked fearsome and ready to take on the world! The eye candy was definitely present and inspiring. In fact it was the best warlike looking orc I have ever played- and I have played many.

I was in the middle of some grassy hills right outside a small village and did I mention that the game was graphically stunning?”

    DF graphics are stunning!
