eq2 for casual gamer like me?

spanishspellspanishspell Member Posts: 30

Hi, i´m thinking to return to eq2 (rok will release in just 1 month), but i think that the game is not for a casual gamer like me, playing 2 hours/day , i usually play solo,

Do you think eq2 is a good game for me?? can i enjoy it playing 2 hours/day??

thank you for your advice

I haven't played the game in well over 18 months but I thought it was TOO casual.

I never had a problem logging on and getting something useful done in a couple of hours.

Casual here myself...wife and son take up a lot of time...work a lot of hours also..

I can log in for say an hour in the morning before work,...get some stuff done (a quest or craft or gather mats)...then log off...come back again for an hour or two...etc,,...But, I also have noticed I spend more time in EQ2 in one sitting than I ever did LOTRO. It is that fun!

The game has all avenues of playability to explore...which is the best part...

And even better...the next expansion will be introducing more (several exist right now) persistent raids...think of it like a save button...go into a raid instance, spend an hour playing, then, leave, and come back the next day and start up where you left off...probably the COOLEST thing ever for casuals...no more life destroying raid guilds ruining your real world!

    Cheers!

it all depends on what you like to do. if you enjoy mainly (fast (not power) leveling, then the game is not for you. If you just like  diversity, getting around, doing a quest here and there and a  very different crafting system,  then yes,  you will like it.

I play EQ2 for it just that reason (although it's much on and off for me).

For fast leveling experience I play Wow.

The best way for me to describe it is this:  if it were not casual friendly, I would not play.

EQ 2 is the only game I am aware of that truly makes it fun for casual and hardcore.   If you enjoy raiding, you have plenty of raid options.  If you prefer solo play, you have plenty of varied options.  If you enjoy small group, full group, multiple group gameplay, you have plenty of options.

    It works very well.

I´m agree with the comments, but for example in commolands the quests are (for me) difficult. I´ve tried with eq2map but it has too much poi´s (points of interest), so please what is your "method" to do eq2 quests effiency?

    thx

EQ2 is very casual friendly, wether you have 1 hour or 6 hours you can always find something to do.

Yep, very casual friendly...go for it!

Hi, there are more ways how to complete quests in EQ2:
    1) The most hardcore is doing quest from information given in game (journal). Its not immpsible, but its very hardcore. You have to know locations of mobs, nameds and NPCs (quite well).

    2) Second way is more casual friendly, but you still have to know EQ2 world a little. You should know at least zone, where your POI is. With this method you are using only EQ2map, as you are doing now.

    3) The best way for you can be another option. You can find exact location and information about every quest on http://eq2.allakhazam.com/ and then put this location into EQ2map. You can run browser directly from EQ2, just type "/browser" into chat.
If you still want some challange (very little) you can use POI Finder plugin for EQ2 map. It can find exat location of given POI.

    Hope it helps.

Sorry...but that is not true...I casually play all the time...make a choice of what to do, log in and do it...play an hour, 2 or 3...

    Simple as that...

Now as to end game, I am not even close...but, I am sure it is like ALL end games of ALL MMO's...but, I stated earlier...with the new persistent raids...you can even raid casually...

    Sounds casual to me

    Cheers!

    To the OP:

I have not as yet reached "end game" but I can assure you that the opinion expressed above is completely off the mark. There are simply so many things to do in this game (as opposed to some other popular games which funnel you only to the "end game") that you will probably find yourself making more time to play.

You can: grind, quest, explore, gather materials, craft (which is a whole game in and of itself) decorate your home (which can tie in with crafting above), do writs to bring your guild more exp (which in turn leads the guild to more capacity in the bank and the ability for it and you to own larger and more elaborate homes), RP (two servers to do so, one is arguable the most populated in the game), earn new titles (pre-fixes to your name including limited royal titles), earn new hunter levels (ie. Hunter of orcs, Killer of Orcs, etc.). In addition, there are quests tied to specific jobs/races, which makes alts a heckuva lotta fun.

Simply, you will find so much to do in EQ2, that if you can get past the "I've gotta grind to the end game to get my phat lewt" mindset that you might just find yourself enjoying the journey there more than the destination. EQ2 is not only geared towards those who want to raid and such, it is so much more than that. The trick is that you have to slow down and think, read and consider what you want to do - this game does not lead you around by your nose to only one end.

Take your time and you won't miss most of the game.

One of the better ways for casual lazy folk like me is to get guildmates who are Obsessive Compulsive to drag me through the quests. hehe.

I am a pretty causal player.  I dislike raids and endgame content which is mostly 'stand around and wait for the raid to start and try not to fall asleep, then everyone dies 3 or 4 times and someone (not me) rolls fat lewt.'

I think you need to find some like minded friends to quest with.  My own guild has 'guild day' which is friday, where we meet up and try to get quests done for each other, with the understanding that during the week you do the parts you can solo.

Fine a nice casual guild.  and you will have balls of fun.

    Awesome...good note...

Myself, I have not joined a guild yet...as at almost 2 months I feel like I am still learning the game, and no need to ruin a guilds standing due to my ineptitude...lol

Once, i feel ready, I will begin anew, search out a guild, and get ready to experience the grouping factor..(even though I have twice, and quite enjoyed it)

    Cheers!

EQ2 is a casual gamers paradise, it's very easy and casual friendly for the most part until the so called "endgame", where like WoW it becomes a raid fest of forced grouping.
