I was reading the info on Final Fantasy XI and I think its looks pretty cool, but I'm not sure if I will be able to play it due to my dial up connection. I currently get 26.4 kps and my ISP is Aol. Could anyone who knows please post a response?
Thanks for your time

your best bet even if you cant afford a fast internet you can even get DSL for around 20 bucks a month now i wouldnt really recommend ANY game on dial up at all, but even a paper route could pay for the monthly charges
I have looked into many different high speed internet companys. I live in a rural area so most places dont even offer service in our area. To get dsl brought to our home it would require an ungodly startup fee and then another 60 dollars a month after that.
After downloads, you should be fine, I think. I remember hearing that they lock client connections at a dial-up speed which is why the game's essentially lagless for everybody, or something like that.
The only problems you will have with dial up is downloading the patches that come once every few months. It might take a few days to download a patch with dial up so you'll have to find someone with broadband.
Good to know. Thank you all for your help
back when i first started to play i played on a 56k and had no problems what so ever so you should be perfectly fine in the game.
I also used to play FFXI on dial up. It seemed I was the only one in my LS that never had problems with disconnections, etc. and it never lagged on me. Wish other games would work like FFXI did on dial up
i played ff11 on dial-up for about two years. the only thing that sucks about it is of course the patches and trying to participate in Beseiged is almost impossible, lol. other that that though ff11 is extremely dial-up friendly
