Have you even played a warrior??? Try playing a warrior arms spec to 70, see how much fun that is .
As a lock you can go any spec and lvl to 70 easy!!! There is only one spec for warriors to effectively PvE (non raid) and that is fury a a fury hybrid (And if you say Prot, please go play prot specced warrior and come back and tell me prot is viable for PvE Non Raid). And in pvp a warrior is only strong with healer backup or when not neing kited. Period.
U take a MS warrior 1 on 1 with any class of the same gear lvl. Warrior will lose. And most times locks will win. Hence the idea of locks being the most OP class.
Of course they're over powered, and it shows in PvP most of all. Why? Well, insta cast DoTs for one. Here we have a class that can run in, click some insta cast DoTs from a safe distance, and then focus on staying alive or just staying away from people. Hello skills! It's pathetic. Meanwhile these dots are ticking for 500 & 300 per tick. If a warrior wants to do that, they actually have to *maintain* melee range the entire time they wish to deal damage (take a minute and think abouut that and how much CC there is going on in PvP). You have a window of a few split seconds every once in awhile, and your burst dps better be high.
So, they do large damage from a safe distance, the trade off being that Warlocks are squishy at close range, right? Wrong, anyone that's PvP'd has seen how long warlocks can keep themselves up vs melee if they decide not to just kite.
After seeing the imbalance, I lvl'd a friends warlock from 69 -70 to take it PvPing. I was in hysterics. I was never that untouchable on any other character I've played. It was so simple I didn't even enjoy myself, it seemed to me for the damage I was doing I should have had to do a bit more work.
Warriors can do some awesome things in PvP, but you have to actually play your class for that to happen.
Warlocks can consistently do amazing things in PvP with crap gear by pounding their fists on the keyboard, randomly hitting some DOTs on the way and shouting "WIN WIN WIN!".
Yeah I tend to agree with the sentiment that it's just too easy for locks. I have a buddy who created a script to fire off the dots in order, so all he has to do is target someone and hit the button with his macro on it 3 times and that person is dead. Even if the buffs are removed, they can be put right back on. There's almost nothing that can be done. If you are lucky, you might kill the lock, but you're still gonna die, so essentially they never lose 1 on 1, the best you can hope for it a draw. And when it's group PvP it's even worse as like has already been mentioned they can dot you up and then run behind the lines and there's nothing you can do about it.
I've been on a warlock ever since the game came out. I was owned by rogues then, as I am owned by them now, even more so with cloak of shadows. Any class that can stun me, owns me pretty much before I can do anything about it. I can't blink out of stuns like Mages..... or shield up like them and shadowpriests, yet nobody screams that those 2 classes are OP, even if a fire/arcane mage can own pretty much everything out there in 3 shots or less.
We have no bubble to save us, no stunning ability whatsoever, even our deathcoil has been countered, yet some of you still come on these boards and complain about how we are OP because you were owned by a well played character.
Gimme a break.
Why not ask Blizzard to completely get rid of the class while you're at it, because you will never be happy unless the class becomes totally unviable.
Look at BM Hunters or Rogues, these classes seem to beat me. I have a very good Lock. I play PVP and Arena a lot.
Weak against LOCKS,, Warrior, Mages and Druids.
Strong against Locks. Hunters (Only BM Spec) Rogues. and sometimes Priest.
One On One with a priest any spec, the only way a priest can win is a long drawn out battle once the lock has no mana he is done for. The only way a Lock can beat a Rogue is hitting with Death Coil then Fear on the first try. if it fails your done!
Each Class has it advantage. I really haven't seen any Class just own all other classes. There should be one that you should fear hehehe. Like how come my Buddy Mage beats any Hunter and I can't but I can own him at any time??
Like buddy said a few threads up, it really comes down to practice… And the above are only my opinions. I have PvP for years now so I have lots of practice.
Vishious ( Malfurion) is my LOCK’s name look me up. I only put myself at the 80% mark for gear; I will have 1 more Season 2 Arena gear and 1 more PVP Belt on Tuesday!!!!!!!!!
Guild Name is ( LOCK and Shackles ) get I’m the LOCK hehehe yeah I am a geek

This is how you know when a game includes PvP as an after thought. It's the cooldowns that aren't balanced in WoW. Way longer than say an actual PvP game in this format. Take Guild Wars for example; Defensive cooldowns for melee characters compare a bit more equally to casters mainly due to defense relies actually on what skills you chose to bring to a particular battle. Survivability is that much more equal across the class gambit. It plays more like Magic: TG. Everyone is usually hybrid. No one class beats another. Skills brought to the fight counter each other. Not classes counter each other.
Defense in WoW I find is a fight in itself. But what do you expect from a game where items play the largest role in you living from fight to fight. For example: the Rogue; Items determine defenses or cooldowns aren't made for fighting multiples. Trinkets to break snares are on a long cool down, vanish is a super long cool down, blind is 3min, even sprint is 3 mins+. Health pots are long cooldowns. So if your healer is occupied or dead...getting away is pretty tough. These type of things are very long when it comes to pvp.
Defense is usually the better offense to say the least. In a group battle there isn't really a finding of the weakest link like say in GuildWars GvG where you actually have to find a weak link in any of the lines. Front Line (melee: Warriors, Dervishes), Mid Line (Spikers, Interrupters,Shouters: Mesmers, Elementalist,Necromancers, Ritualist Rangers, Paragons)Back Line (Healing: Monks). Getting through to that back line who are usually monks; prot monks; healer monks is the toughest thing to do in PVP I have found. In structured PvP thus far anyways.
*EDIT* Assassins/ Shadow-steppers are usually mid line also. Or frontline characters will carry one of the assassins shadow steps to reach the back line. And back line monks will sometimes carry shadow steps like return to get away from these type of threats. E-sport.
PvEnvironment in WoW is different because you have the option to take that breather without the heavy repercussions, but in PvP you could be fighting nonstop.
We have all learned to play like this though and maneuver through it and accept it for what it is. I just don't think that PvP was in mind when developing/incorporating this sorta system.
Warlocks aren't overpowered because they can auto-beat every other class without the slightest skill.
I've played a BM hunter, and I certainly don't believe they have an auto-win against warlocks - particularly if the lock knows what he's doing and has an SL./SL build. Yes - I've killed plenty of locks. But ones who know what they are doing have also killed me plenty of times as well.
I've heard the best pvp warrior on my server say he doesn't stand a chance 1v1 against an SL/SL lock. I'll take his word for it.
Subtlety rogues do stand a chance. However it's still not an auto-win. Particularly if the lock has his trinket available or enough hits/resilience to survive the initial stunlock damage.
Meanwhile warlocks completely obliterate some other classes. Doesn't matter what build he is, but a paladin is going to lose. Same for a shaman. And a druid. Frost mages and priests both have some chance but will also lose a lot more than they win.
So basically warlock completely dominates a number of other classes.
No other class dominates a well played SL/SL warlock.
Well when I was playing WoW i rerolled a warlock, and guess what,I had no trouble in 1vs1,in BG and expecialy pve ... id be top 3 on pve dmg charts while semi afk.Yeah warlock isnt overpowered if you bought him off ebay and dont know how to play WoW.
Soo yeah,gg OP ... but unless you come up with facts and videos why warlocks arent overpowered ... il say otherwise.
How about showing facts and videos that locks ARE overpowered .... and you getting owned by one is not what I consider fact....For every video you will post to support your claim, I bet I can find the same showing the prowness of another class....
BTW, not all locks are SL/SL, so if your beef is against a particular build, don't extend it to the entire class.

Aye - but all can respec to SL/SL if they choose. And every example as to something that can beat a lock also assumes a particular spec. Or show me the prot warrior / survival hunter who can beat a warlock of any spec!
Howevere rude you may think it was, asking for proof from the other side when he's offering non to support his claim only more repeating of what has already been posted for years now is something that will always amuse me on forums.
What I find most interesting is the 6 point difference between your hightest ranked warlock and druid..... you are assuming it is because the majority of druids are grouped with locks, but assumptions are not facts.... and I don't hear people screaming that druids are OP. I have seen plenty of druids grouped with rogues, probably as many as they are with locks.

True that everyone can respec, but again if your beef is about SL/SL locks, then claim that the tree is OP, and leave the rest of the class out of the dispute. I have been 2 shotted by mages.... kept perma sapped by rogues and repeadly stunned by warriors. I am not an uber skilled player, but I am no noob either.

I don't think they are overpowered, I always just assumed they were an alpha class....
Played: SWG 2.5 years, WoW 4 years
Tried: RF Online, Ryzom, Daoc, CoH/CoV, Lotro, Vanguard, Guild Wars
Beta Tested: SWG, RF Online, Lotro, Potbs, Tabula Rasa, G&H, Perfect World
Some people asked blizzard about the current state of all classes
and their balance, blizzard even replied using a warlock as an example
of being one of the stronger pvp class, probably even the strongest,
and told ppl that it's nearly impossible to make all classes balanced
in both pvp and pve. And that's why the remain incredibly strong in pvp.
Warlocks are over-powered.
But so are arms warriors with healer backup.
Some other classes get left a long way behind.
