It been about 2 years so I have re-nubbified by now 
A few questions about Core Combat.
First question: Is CC still used/available?
Second question: I purchased CC online when it came out and was curious if they still retain that purchase info if I use the same old acct.? I guess I could check but here at work its a little tough

the caves, BFR etc are still active. CC is now part of the normal game, so there shoudl be no problem either way

Yep Core Combat is now with the game dont have to buy it or anything.
Note though Planetside isn't as great as it use to be xD
I believe you still need CC to get access to some of the weapons and vehicles but the caves are open to all.
you believe wrong. CC comes nowadays free with the main game
But as he bought the game 2 years ago it was probably just the standard game yes ?
In which case he will need the CC exp pack to get the few weapons if he really wants them.
it automatically downloads CC as part of the update, no extra cost
