Starting Vanguard.. Necro or SK for pvp?

I loved EQ1 and back in the day i played a necro and an SK. I love those types of characters but I am even more in love with PVP. I was wondering which is a better classes to PVP with. Almost every MMO i play I become totaly focused on PVP so i dont want to play a character to 50 and it not be good at pvp..(Like my lvl 70 warrior in WoW that kept getting nerfed)
So any people that play Death Knights's or Necros have any ideas on which is better for PVP? Any help/thoughts from some of the experts of PVP is appreciated.
Games: Final fantasy 11, WoW, EQ1, EQ2, UO,Ragnarok, COH/V .......runescape?

Necro and DK are great classes, but Dk for pvp then necro. Necro more of a solo class for Pve.
Of the two? Probably a Necro. Neither are the worst for pvp, nor are they the best, really.
All of the flaws of EQ era pvp, except now healers will not only outheal your damage, but they're also able to do damage now, as well. Especially Shaman.
I haven't played on the pvp server since before the merge, but I imagine it's still all about the Rangers, Bards, Shaman, and Clerics in no particular order.
wow really? never thought clerics would be a good pvp class..... that makes things pretty interesting..Theres so much i want to try to pvp with but i want my first to count..
If clerics are anything like palladins in WoW then i might play one....Anyone other healer classes that are good at pvp? I saw shaman? I dunno heals are always great to have in pvp and if you can do dmg at the same time... sounds like my kinda pvp character
The 4 classes that Coldmeat mentioned are great in just about every situation, pvp, pve, solo, grps. Out of the 4 I would personally put rangers just a *slight touch* below the other 3, but thats just my 2 cents.
