Soulbinding: good or bad aspect in the game?

gaeria84gaeria84 Member Posts: 105

Soulbinding. The good side is it prevents the uncontrollable flow of rare items into the market and curbs economy inflation. The bad side is it gives less freedom to players in the economy itself. Blizzard has recently introduced the term "bind-on-equip" to make up for this, but still players still want free economy in WoW. So tell me, is soulbinding a good or bad thing?

I am going to cast my vote for good. I think it is because people need to learn how to hunt for their own items. Not just sell all their old crap for gold and buy it. I think it would be bad if every rare item was "Bind on equip" but still, I like the idea. If you don't plan on keeping it, don't equip it. Also, a reason EQ went to hell was people selling items on Ebay for real money. I think that is a little sad if they sell a weapon for $300. It may help to prevent that.

If something is bound to you, can you still sell it to NPC vendors? If not, that might be a little tedious having all of these items and not being able to do anything with them. But we need to make sacrifices so that the community and econmy won't die.

Soulbinded items can be sold to npc vendors. Bind-on-equip items can be traded among players as long it isnt quipped first.

I think soul binding is fine cuz you can still sell it to a NPC if you really dont want it, its a good way of keeping the quest items out of the economy so other players have to do they quests to get the item they want intead of buying it. Unlike in diablo 2 the quest items are actually worth something in this game heh diablos items were mostly worthless. =)

I voted Soulbinding is a good idea. Anyone who has played Diablo 2 LOD will know that many aspects of the game went out of hand because items were: being sold on Ebay; being hacked to make some uber item; being duplicated because they were so rare to find and highly profitable. There came a point were runes were the real currency in Diablo. Blizzard is trying to solve the problems where it failed in Diablo 2 LOD. Is soulbinding the answer? It's a start that will help WoW keep its luster =).

True..then people will actually have to get off there @sses and do the quests themselves. Heh in eq and stuff id never do quests id just farm and then pay for it if i needed

Well to tell you the truth I think that all quest items should be soul binded, but all items you find off of kills, or treasure chest, ect. I dont think should be bind on equiped. B/C after you equip it your screwed, you cant sell it to anybody except to the npc, and he will give you a really crapy deal.

So I say that only quest items should be binded to you, everything else should be able to be traded to other players.

Quest items: Bound. Rare items: Not bound. Rare items help the economy, but people should have to do their own quests for quest items.

I think its a good idea since you can still sell it to Npc vendors but it doesn't ruin people doing the quest why do the quest if you can buy the item for a few gold or something like that? I like the idea unless it is really rare items those shouldn't be soulbound I think. So yeah I like the idea unless its a really rare item or something like a non-combat pet (forgot its name).

I belive the non-combat pet you are refering to is an Dragon Whelpling. Yes they are rare, and cockroaches arnt ::::31::. Some rare items are bind on equip, and some are bind on aquire, and some are sould bound, and some are do whatever you want with it. Like I said previously, all items you find except for quest items, should be tradable.

I think soul binding is a good aspect for any MMO. The only problem I see behind it is when you are grouped with extreme looters and they might not even need that such item.
