What impulses you to keep playing WoW?

There are a lot of reasons that makes the players keep playing WoW, I wanna know YOUR reasons. Is it because you wanna pwn noobs? You wanna get the best gear? You wanna complete all the quests? You wanna meet new people? You wanna raid and be in the best guild? Or just because you think it's awesome and fun (even if some people disagree).

I only got to level 20 in the trial.. I haven't done much, I know! But  I'd love too play the official servers.. and I may be playing them soon.

After I got to level 20 and couldn't level up more because of the trial limitations I went online and started reading.. watching youtube videos and stuff like that.. and I've noticed that a lot of players do raids for the wrong reasons.. It's like they are compelled, obligated, or even forced to do them just to get the best gear.

Anyways.. what makes me want to play the game is simply because it's fun.. there's so much you can do.. doing the quests and leveling up.. meeting new people and simply sight viewing around Azeroth (lol).

I know some of you will say that someday I'll get caught up in the Raids stuff, but I don't think so.. I might raid if I find it fun and I'll stop if i find it boring or whatever. By the way.. I'm 16 and it's not true that we have all that much free time in our hands to have WoW or any other game as a "First Job". Because I'm gratuated from Highscool and have a job

Ok.. that was me speaking my mind I don't write that much please don't bash me for whatever reason

I like playing while I'm drinking heineken. :P

I guess the social aspect of it, and raiding was a big part of it for me, kept me playing for a long time. But WoW for me was a different sort of MMO, just didn't feel like every other game, gradually i got bored, took a year though.

Was to get the best equipment, nothing more nothing less. Everything you do is towards getting better and better equipment. You grind to get rep equipment. You raid to get better loot. You PVP to Arena gear.

My guild is funny as hell.  Last night one of our mages was being berated by his wife on voice chat for being too slow sheeping adds, which turned into quite an entertaining (yet moderately friendly) debate, which was eventually resolved by the couple duelling and wifey pwning him in duels - she plays a rogue.  Howls of laughter from everyone throughout the evening.   You had to be there I guess, but I just don't get that kind of entertainment anywhere else.  Or maybe you can, but without sheep.

Still waiting for your Holy Grail MMORPG? Interesting...

I play because my friends do and I love mmorpg'n. WoW is the best full on mmorpg out there right now. Has been for what...4 years now?

I've played a few in between but, none offer as full of an experience as WoW

This can apply to any MMO not just WoW....

The reason I would keep playing a game is because of the people I've befriended.  The game can be buggy, pvp-unbalanced, a steep grind.. whatever... and it wouldn't matter in the least if I am playing with good friends and enjoying the time with them.

The players make the game fun, not the devs.

theres nothing better to play at the moment. i've been playing for 2 1/2 years and yea i'd like a change of scenery  (which is only natural) however all the recently released mmos have been subpar so i'm still in azeroth.

I have picked up WoW and dropped it pretty quick several times. . . countless times! But that's besides the point. I play now because my boyfriend, his brother, and a few of our friends all play. It's like a chat room where you can interact with people and the environment.

Every time I stop playing my mate resubs my account and rings me up and nags me.

There are still further developments available for my character to upgrade to. None of the other games I own are currently overwhelmingly addictive for me.

    It's a time filler.

Cheaper than the pub, more engrossing than TV.

I've taken several multi-month breaks from Wow, I come back from time to time for a game-card or twos worth of play.

    Why do I come back?

Say what you will about Wow, Wow players, MMOs, complexity levels or lack thereof,  WoW, is bar none the highest quality MMO available.

The game works on just about any  machine with a graphics card, the graphics are lush, colorful, and pleasing to the eye.  The animations are "complete", I mean no hitching, no awkward joint movements, fluid.  "Driving" my character is enjoyable in a way, the animations are so natural that I never get kicked out of the "immersion" of the game world.

Game play is layered, meaning that easy to just get going but to truely get into it requires a greater understanding.  There are many  ways to advance a character, quest, grind, dungeons, quests are most often of the common "fed-ex", "kill-ten" or "assinate" type but there are real gems in these too, multi-quest chains that culminate in really useful items.

One of the most important aspects that keeps me coming back is population, not talking about asshatery or lacktherof here.  What I mean isnt necessarily the social aspect, I am unguilded and mostly solo, except for PUGing instances, and sure sometimes that works sometimes it doesnt, but there is never a time when my play time is hindered by a lack of players.  This is something that many of the older MMOs suffer from (DAoC, EQ1, AO, SoR, SWG), WoWs population is still growing.

Don't get me wrong, some things irratate me about the game, and sure I'd love more "realism" and "depth" in an MMO, but not in this MMO.  WoW is what it is, a fun game, with levels of complexity that is both easy to leave and easy to get back into, with lots and lots of people playing and plenty of things to do, even at max level.

    I play a level 70 Orc Shaman (10,0,48) Resto.

My general philosophy in life is that if you only have one reason to do something, it's not worth doing. So here are some of my reasons for playing WoW:

    - It's less boring than RL

    - It's better than any of the other MMO's I've played (inc LOTRO, EQ2, Ryzom, FFXI).

    - I enjoy gearing up my characters

    - I enjoy playing with friends

    - I enjoy PvP, both in battlegrounds, and World PvP

    - I enjoy being challenged, and WoW constantly challenges me

    - I like the feeling of achivement it sometimes gives me. Like the other day when my 39 pala alt was attacked in STV by a 42 mage and 45 rogue simultaneously. The mage died before I did.

    - I like going to instances and small scale raids such as Kara

    - I like playing different roles in groups via my alts

    - I like making things with my craft skills

I constantly seem to have lots to do, which I guess is something all MMO's should aspire to.
