Good evening,
Finally, I managed to register on this great site! As we all visit this homepage for common reasons, to discuss our online gaming experience/etc. at least mainly, I would like to share my problem with you people.
Topic speaks for itself, the upcoming text will be about EVE Online, the weird, wicked sci-fi game!
I've tried to seriously play EVE Online 2x times, I completely love the graphics, ships and space "aura", which this game gives, but, there is a slight problem - the art of gaining money (don't panic, I'm not going to complain about not being able to collect billions of ISK). I find doing agent missions very boring, as far as I'm aware of, the only ways to collect ISK in EVE is through: Agent Missions, Mineral Farming or buying ISK for real money, which of course is not an option for me, sadly. As I consider myself a person who loves PvP, especially in EVE, all the time I find myself in need of ISK to buy ships/upgrades/parts/etc.
So the question is: Is there any way to collect ISK besides doing Agent Missions and/or Mineral Farm, to be able to, actually, have fun?
I really hope I made myself clear, in case if not, please post your questions/suggestions/etc.
Please don't criticize me for language/sentence mistakes, as I'm in process of studying English
Regards Methodd.

Well, another good way of making Isk, would be to buy a T1 bpo, and invent it up to a T2 version, sell the T2 bpo on the market, but, even then, its a guess on how soon that will go with the amount of sellers out there.
I made a huge chunk of isk with trading..i never saw the modules and ammo i traded, but i made some good cash with them..
When i want to pvp i usually go beltratting for some minutes until i have enough cash for a new ship.. (shooting the npcs in the belts in deep 0.0)
Others do piracy, produce stuff, scam on the market..
Sorry, I failed to mention, that when you do invention, bpos can only make copies, and you sell the newly made T2 BPCs
Actually trying to scam the market for isk isn't such a bad idea after all.
I mean, you find the "conventional" ways of making isk boring any how. Try something new. Something that would get you banned in most other MMORPG's but is accepted in EVE.
You could also start stealing ore or ice from miners. If you want to be less cruel, you can just target the farmers that we all like to hate. Just go for guys in rookie corps with silly names. You know them when you see them, and they won't even complain in local.
Making isk is very easy tbh expecialy once you get the hang of it,some of the ways to gain isk:
1.Agent missions - provide a steady income + bonus isk/items when traiding LP in,the only downside is that at the begining it's painfully slow, till you reach lvl 3 agents, then it gets faster. For mission running you need social skills wich will help alot, also if you want serious isk,try doing missions for pirate factions, serpentis, angel or blood raiders and buy those nice faction implants with LP and sell them.
2.Mining - very boring and tedious, usualy it's best to mine in duos atleast, someone picks up the ore and someone mines.Mining is slow, but it speeds up once you get a barge and exhumer, the good thing about mining is that you can semi-afk earn isk.
3.Ransoming - pvp is a great source of income if you are experienced in the art of pvping, basicly it's a win-win situation, you can earn from 5mil to 1bil per target ransomed, usualy best targets are BCs wich earn you 30-50mil per ransom.
4.Stealing - you can earn isk off people's hard work, stealing ore cans is a nice source of income ,tho kinda dangerous. Also if you can fly a wide variaty of ships you can explore POS and if you get lucky you might find one without a password or out of fuel wich happens to have afew unmanned ships waiting to be boarded and sold.
5.Ratting - best isk earner all around, tho it is abit slower than mission running, you can have huge isk spikes aka faction drops, faction drops can earn a ton of isk,but it's based on luck.If you rat in low sec you have the chance of earning 100mil in 10mins if youre lucky.
6.Market supplying - demands alot of hard work but it's worth it,find a market wich lacks X item/s and the items in question are sold for 3 times or more the normal price and then go,buy the items from somewhere cheap and sell them there. If managed to sell BCs for 45mil in low sec systems without trouble.
7.Invention - this is a great way to earn isk,but it takes alot of time to make it profitable and plus you need alot of isk in order to start earning isk.
8.Manufacturing - again,same as invention.
9.Exploration - requires abit of time invested in skills but it can earn decent isk,you can try your luck with them,it's kinda like ratting ,but takes longer but with usualy a bigger reward.
Hope that helps, personaly id recomend you train for a AF (gallente or minmatar) and hunt for faction rats in low sec...
EVE is also getting a big patch/expansion in November, which will supposedly be a complete make-over on the entire game ( graphics-wise ), for every new item put in 6 bug-fixes and an improved interface and especially drone-handling.
Doesn't mean that will make you play more, but hey , thought I'd mention.
EVE, like almost all mmorpg games requires player to earn money via pve activities so you can buy cool toys to pvp with.
No real way to get around this except perhaps as a pirate...they generally make their cash by killing/looting other folks...

CCP will take action if you are found to have bought ISK. I'm not saying I agree, I'm just saying they will. Just something to keep in mind. It's not very "fun" to log in and find your account with a negative balance.
i made about 100 mill in isk in about week or so between mining and killing BS rat spawns lol (afk while watching a movie to make it go easier) making roughly 10-11.5 mill in zydrine in with 2 jet cans when i refined them. which takes me about hour 40 minutes to fill with my retriver and 2 strip miners doing 882.9 units of ore per cycle.
this wasnt including the pyerite and tritanium which i have to sell soon (have about 2-4 mill of that) some ass in 0.0 space where i am at is buyiung it u for .01 isk lol so i gotta take a corp jump to another sec of space to sell them. but anyhoo not to get off subject. ratting is an effective means to getting isk.
between mining ore and destorying and earning 1.2-1.5 mill per BS rat(some worth 200-750k), i made millins off reprocessing or selling the loot, and salvaging the wrecks where I float around some salvage loot i make 40,000 isk per unit, muptile that by 30-40 peieces thats alot of isk :P it takes time though took me awhile to get up to earning an easy 20-30+ mill a session ratting(2 hour or so) but i like to mine ever so often as it is a easy carefree way to earn isk if a BS rat spawn come i pull in my BS destory them earning anywhere from 2 mill to 5 mill isk per psawn
but once to a BC or BS i have a armor tanking domi with heavy drones just short of T2, at that point u can make some killer isk as it as been stated.
its fun, mine, or rat spawn with some corpies, or just fart around and chat up a storm and watch the corp and alliance channel for any flak going on with potential reds, and nuets or possible scouts and cloaks coming in. makes for a interesting time.

I dont know about you, but i love minning. Got my hulk today and I can make 40mil in 3 days
Tritanium prices are high. I cant wait to get into a little lower sec space. So much ISK, and i can be semi afk. I love it.
Since there are no classes or other restrictions in EVE your'e not held to one way of doing things. Some ways of making money are;
- mining, boring as fek but can make lots of cash without much effort
- production, combined with mining it CAN be profitable
- pirating/ransoming, not as easy as it sounds and you'll likely spend more than you make
- invention, don't know much about it (cba) but can make good cash from what I've heard
- salvaging, nice cash but takes lots of time
- scamming, needs an alt, some brains and a morbid sense of humor. VERY profitable
- corp theft, see above
- ore stealing, for a starting player a VERY good form of income, just 'milk' all those Hulks in hi-sec
- trading, easy cash, almost no effort, needs a bit of brains and you DON'T need to haul at all
As in the real word; the most cash is made by doing the least amount of effort. The SECOND you start to put in actual work you lower your profit and someone else gets rich of your efforts. Trading/scamming/ore stealing (for a starter) makes GOOD cash. Even more since neither of these activities actually take a lot of time. That means you can do several things at the same time.
Also, if you get bored with one option, simply chose another. Sometimes I mine, most of the times I trade and sometimes I do a little production in 0.0.
The OP has a point, Eve online for a new player is frustrating at the least. Its hard to make ISK while some jerk is stealing ore from a jet-can, (yeah I know) . Or a newbie falls for the "Isk is in low-sec" scam and he loses his ship at the first gate camp. Their is no effective way for a newbie to make ISK faster, sorry T1 BPO's to T2 BPC's? Your forgetting the research skills and points? Like all those boaring arse PVE missions one must do to get them?
No Eve-online is not for everyone, If you can stick it out, do those missions, get to the bigger minning ships, and build up your skill points, then yeah Eve-online is a wonderful game.
Uhm, it's easy to make isk as a starter. First of all you don't NEED much anyway and secondly, you need to stop thinking the obvious and start using your brain.
ONE of the ways to make GREAT isk for a starter you mentioned yourself in the second line you typed. Figure it out
My favorite is exploration. You can make good isk (in 0.0) and I like the feeling of tracking down the target and getting into a secret complex that no one's ever been to.

To be fare to him its not suprising or his fault he didnt think of this as after all most other MMO's folow a very different way of doing things.Such as making things usually considered griefing [stealing loot market scams] ok in EvE.
What im saying is playing eve required a completly different way of thinking about gaming.

Pretty easy to make money.
1) Missions - Yeah it takes a while to get to L4's, but once you are highly specialized you can easily make a very nice cash stream.
2) Ratting in 0.0 - million isk bounties on rats tends to help the wallet pretty fast, plus you sell the officer loot, melt down the rest etc.
3) Mining - Hey I like it. I sit there, turn on movie, and watch the lasers make me money.
4) Stealing
5) Piracy
6) Trading
7) Scamming
8) Manufacturing
9) Research
10) Exploration
11) Salvaging
There are literally dozens of ways to make an income.
Yeah, I got the same problem as the OP. People told me that EVE was a game without much grind...pff. I'm getting frustrated with this game already...I think it is a great game and all, but I still haven't found a way to make money without boring myself to tears (read missions)
There are sooo many streams of income in eve. I, personally, make quite some buying ammo in amarr, hauling it back into x-r3nm, zt-lpu etc. and sell it there for 25% profit. It just often takes some time until someone buys your stuff, though.
You can find similar maketniches..
Ah...question. Doesn't stealing ore from a jet can results in a security hit?
No it does not but it does mean for the next 15 minuites i think he can kill you without concord intervention. Basically it adds some risk to can stealing.
