I've heard of an new expansion.
With new races (Dead Knight)
And a new land (Northrend)
The Lich King Arthas has set in motion events that could lead to the extinction of all life on Azeroth. With the armies of the undead and the necromantic power of the plague threatening to sweep across the land, only the mightiest heroes can oppose the Lich King's will and end his reign of terror for all time.
Blizzard Entertainment's latest expansion to World of Warcraft – Wrath of the Lich King – adds a host of epic content to the existing game world. Players will achieve soaring levels of power, explore a vast new continent, and battle other high-level heroes to determine the fate of Azeroth. As you pit yourself against the dangers of the north, prepare to:

OK, maybe a little slow off the mark there Nassiem, but hey it is a nice colourful post non the less
More and more information being released about this all the time, so keep your ear to the ground and keep yourself up to date as it is looking quite promising so far.
It must be Thursday, i never could get the hang of Thursdays.
Believe it or not, I think this is a bad thing. Altho initially I was all "ooooo" and "ahhhh" with the first expansion. the grind to 60, the rep grinds, the changes to instances that destroyed guilds...It all left a bitter taste in my mouth.
Ive noticed this with many MMORPGs and expansions ever since EQ. There is almost a required inflation of spells, equipment and abilities ..back in the old days we called it "Mud-Flation". The new powers and items make the old ones obsolete and everything you worked for up to that point becomes worthless. After too many expansions the games just...."Jump the shark". Generaly after the first expansion I think most MMORPGs go downhill.
Torrential
Torrential: DAOC (Pendragon)
Awned: World of Warcraft (Lothar)
Torren: Warhammer Online (Praag)
Before TBC was launched, hardcore players were bitterly dissapointed about how long it took for the new expansion to arrive. Now that we're getting expansions more regularly, the invetible decline is being delayed for as long as possible.
The problem you percieve isn't with this expansion it's with the very fundamental design of the game. A design that has proven massively successful. It's easy to suggest a better design (that differs to the current expansion model) but few people are going to take you seriously until a game comes along that proves it.
An expansion to WoW is only a 'bad thing' for the excessively pessimistic who are only looking toward the inevitible future when WoW is not as popular as it once was. I mean come on - you run a MMO graveyard for heavens sake. I can see you licking your lips with anticipation for when WoW will suddenly keel over, coffin at the ready
I can see why you have an interest in this game's decline but unless this expansion does something drastically wrong, we won't see anything of the sort for a long time. People have called me a fanboy for saying this, but so far I have been proven consistently correct - the game just keeps getting bigger. One day things will go into a decline, but by that time I would have probably moved on to other things anyway
Still waiting for your Holy Grail MMORPG? Interesting...
They are trying to fix the game i wont deny that, but they take to long, i quit the game almost 6 months ago and they still haven't added that patch they were hyping up, i know since my brother and my dad are obsessed with WoW still.
The expansion looks like it addressing some of the issues that for me at least turned me off the game. for instance they are trying to revive some world pvp which they did try with the burning crusade they just didnt succeed. They are also improving the 50-60 leveling since i admit im a altaholic when it comes to wow, i had 4 70s and 4-5 40-50 somethings before i quit, i hear they are also improving experience rates by 30% although i would of prefered more quests that will do me.
Tbh if they fix that i might play the game again, but ill try pirates of the burning sea first only game ive been interested in a while that doesnt look overhyped or like they wont deliver, it also focuses on pvp and player freedom/un-lineir world which is my prefered gaming style.
Warhammer and age of conan look like games that are over hyped and won't deliver so although ill keep an eye on them i wont give my hopes up, out of those 2 im only really keeping an eye on age of conan, warhammer isn't doing enough to differentciate with wow in my eyes so i wont waste my money on it.
Im not to bothered either way though, dont really have time for gaming anymore and especially not willing to waste money on games since the last couple i brought were over hyped cack. Like cnc3, lord of the rings online and a few others i forgot the name of.
