So many bugs

EverKing87EverKing87 Member UncommonPosts: 67

There are way too many bugs for this game to be released within the next week, I think they need to delay the game till they fix the numerous bugs that plague this game.Anyone agree?

Games already failed. Let 'em launch it now so it can be official, and both Garriotts can fade off in obscurity. Robert and Richard both should both be removed by NCsoft if the company intends to continue making mmos.

Many people have been telling them to delay launch for at least 3, preferably 6 months, just to iron the bugs out and sort the horrendous shallowness out.

    no-one listened

The number of open bugs and inbalance in many areas of the game are the reasons why i stopped playing beta a week ago. I will come back in 2-3 month to see how the game advanced, but for now it's a definitely a no-GO decision for me.

It sure looks like the game is being released so that the Garriotts can sell the last of their stock and Richard can write that big check to the Russians--who aren't fanboys. There's been a big selloff of Ncsoft stock right at the official release date (Oct 19 and 22, the biggest selloff in such a short time in several years of NcSoft market history, over a million and a half shares counting both days) of TR--those might be those last few options and would explain the startling high numbers of trades. He's also made public this week of his intention of restarting his mansion #2 building after years of hiatus--looks like the wallet runneth over.

Your'e right, they'll probably be resigning soon. There was another story over a year ago which indicated that they've had enough and want to leave once they've fulfilled their obligations re TR. It's called "take the money and run," lawful and contractural-- but the Seoul CEO really gambled large with a lot of cash on the Garriott Game Glamour--NcSoft stockholders will be left holding the bag if TR is less than a huge hit.

Noticed today on Amazon that Hellgate reached #1 in "RPG" games, pushing out even WOW. Hard to believe, but Wow is still consistently #1 in new, current sales even when the subscriber base is reportedly eroding. TR is #9, broke into the top ten for the first time. Of course, on the "video games" list it looks quite different, registers in the 300-400s. Amazon is offering a special deal if you buy HL and TR together. Go figure--can they really market two online games together?

Until you spread your wings, you have no idea how far you can walk.

    Sorry, but I disagree.

The game is fun and enjoyable.  Bugs are going to happen in any MMO, even once it goes live.

Most bugs aren't caught, because people will whine about them here or elsewhere instead of filing a bug report during beta.

Remember it's BETA, so actually do some testing and stop whining and complaining.

  • greylistedgreylisted Member Posts: 9

This game is fun and is playable , but only for one-two classes of 8 and it is definitely not enjoyable.

Nobody whine here about the bugs. I whine that bugs were not fixed for more than one month, bug reports were completely ignored, forums were (still are?) not moderated by project staff. Two weeks before, they still worked on content and graphics and then they started to tune game dynamics and balance. Crazy, or?

It is beta, there will be no RC till 2.nov and they will sell beta as final product to customers. Feel free to pay your money for it, i am not ready to it.

In my opinion, TR is just another software project which has failed. They see only the project plan, but ignore the long term consequences - a common behaviour of many project manager today. Why do they not do it better? Simple: you are ready to pay for unfinished software, so why to struggle?

To be honest - show me a single MMORPG that has went live and was completely bug-free?

We can all argue that a game isn't ready for prime-time because of this bug or that bug.  I said the same thing about SWG.  I played SWG starting back in beta 2.  When they abruptly announce end of beta to go live, I was probably one of the loudest voices that said "WTF?  This isn't ready!"

I will admit that there are bugs in TR, but none of them are game-breaking or super-big issues that are going to cause anyone major stress.  Yesterday/todays patch covered more bug-fixes, and I'm sure there will be more patches in the next week, not to mention on-going work after release.  This game is more ready for live than SWG or WoW was at launch time, so you'll have to give them some credit there.

I never said that there is a piece software on the market, that reached a mature state before release. All software projects are "finalized" by the customers, the only difference between them is how busy is your support hotline after the release. I do work on complex software projects and i know what companies sell to their customers as "ready to go" (good for management that the customers are not aware what they buy).

Yes, i admit that the programmers at NCsoft do a very good job, but they are only employees and they cannot be made responsible for all problem. Anyway, the problems are not what i am afraid of. I concern about the trends in software development ...

And if you say what games were worse then TR, then you should also say what were better at release date: EQ2, EVE and AO - i played all betas till release and i am still an acitve EVE gamer.

  • AltosAltos Member Posts: 64

I would debate EQ2. They released EQ2 with a major memory leak issue and several other "oops".

However, I can't debate the others as I didn't play beta on either of those two.  However, I have played them both, and AO has so many inconsistencies it's not funny - however I love the game.

As for EvE - big bow to them.

But I was only intending to give examples that MMOs are inherently buggy.  No one will ever release a perfect MMO and no one will ever release an MMO without bugs.  And I'll guarantee you that every single MMO to date likely has a bug that has been with it since it's beta.

haha ok AO?  seriously?  That title goes down as the worst launch in MMO history

I'm playing TR open beta (or what is still left) and I have a lvl 17 ranger. Upto now I have discovered 1 annoying bugged quest, 1 annoying instance quest bug. And a bug that minimizes your game if you press forward and map button at the right moment.

Those are 3 bugs, and only 1 of those bugs was really stuborn and I couldn't do anything about it. The truth is that I haven't really seen a lot of content. I have only gotten to lvl 17. But so far (I think) so good.

I've checked all the patch notes since I got interested in the game and I have to admit that a lot of the fixes that are listed are rediculous to begin with. Things like "If player has ignore list full, player can't recieve whispers at all".

But they still have some time. They'll patch the game once or twice before the release, probably dealing with some of the worst cases of bugs.

The game is playable if you ask me. So I don't think you should call it doomed and I'm sure a lot of people have gotten this preordered and are planning on buying it. I have gotten some interest in HGL so I'm still trying to decide.

Oh, yeah, I don't agree with the needed delay.

You're not afraid of the dark, are you?

that excuse is SO stupid, it launches in like a week

whenever some gmae sucks balls everyone yells 'it's only BETA,the launch version will be crazy awesome!'  No it will still suck and the bugs will still be there

    lol

I have only seen a few "gameplay" bugs that are a bit annoying, but nothing seriously game-breaking.  I just reported the bugs and moved on.

I'm guessing you only ever test open-beta games.

Tell you what...  since you hate the game so much, YOU develop one yourself, and then I'll test it and tell you how much it "sucks balls".

My opinion - I like the game.  It's very casual and not a PvP-fest.  So if you are whining about lack of PvP - well, believe it or not you are a minority in MMORPG games.  75% of MMO gamers do not care for PvP.

I think some people are playing drunk...  This game is one of the least buggy mmos in a long time.  Further if recent weeks are an example the devs are doing a pretty good job knocking out the bugs that are in the game.  But I don't have any major bugs and I've played to lvl 19.  I mean there are a couple quest bugs that are irritating and I have crashed a couple times but thats only after hours of playing...

If you are expecting a perfect game with no bugs at all you are expecting the impossible.  I don't think there are any mmos even released ones that would fit that criteria...

I think TR is fine for release and while the upper game may still have some issues I think the devs will get that cleaned up very quickly after release.

I agree. I have run into very few bugs and none recently and I have been playing a lot.

The game is right where it should be. Sure there are issues, but not anything unexcepted for a game in late bet and about to be launched.  I am having a blast in game.  The QQers and naysays are in for a surprise.

  • NyiiNyii Member Posts: 26

Each week they have been stamping out bugs left and right, I would not agree it is not perfect but it is far from being unplayable.

The game is extremely fun and considering I have been playing it for 6 months, I will continue to play it through release and just continue to enjoy the content they are pumping into it.

As they clean up the starter areas (level 30 and below) for release, I can just imagine all the late game content they will be adding in the coming weeks.

Translation: As they desperately try to make the newbie zones look pretty and mask the lack of content beynod them and desperately hope that no one hits lvl 30 before the end of their post-release vacations.

Where on their site are they claiming to have a massive raiding/pvp explosion of content? Are you looking at some other site for information?

Everything I have found claims that the content is not in game yet and will be coming... how is that 'hiding behind a mask?'

TR has just as much a chance for success as any up and coming MMO out there, but as with everything only time will tell. If you do not enjoy TR then do not play it, keep waiting for WAR and then wait for whatever the next big game will be after that....

Things I've seen coming "soon" are

    1 - Auction houses

2 - lvl 40 mounts/vehicles/mech suits something along those lines one for each profession

3 - Ability to play other races, mutants or something.  Maybe this is PvP

4 - An arena to support AFS pvp contests.

content to lvl 50 is supposed to be in at launch.

There is some sort of pvp ladder thing.

I don't think I'd be too worried about bugs. I'd be more worried about the amazingly stupid storyline, the mind-numbing repetitive boredom, and the textures on 'ultra' looking like something straight out of the second Tomb Raider game. Once that stuff is resolved, I'd worry about bugs.

  • GinkeqGinkeq Member Posts: 615

Teh bugs arent the problem in this game.

The problem is that it has 50000 quests and there seems to be no point to any of the game.  Also the whole specialization thing is kind of stupid.  I found myself hoarding all my points because I didn't have any idea about the game skills etc.

Plus the instances suck, I did a few of them and there wasnt any bosses at all.  The missions are all run-around bs and the whole gun system is dumb.

The game is all instanced and really isnt an MMORPG.  I hope nobody plays it to discourage people from making MMORPGs where they try to split up each server into 10 different instances for each zone.  Very stupid idea.

The NPCs are idiotic, they just stand around while they get shot for 10 minutes.

Too bad the game tried to copy WoW and failed miserably.  Hopefull MMORPG companies won't try to make more WoWs

This game didnt try to copy WoW. Its nothing like WoW... if anything it feels like a PlanetSide gone bad... as for the bugs. Well... lets just say even with the current bugs you kan still grind if you find that enjoyable. Though why you would pay for that is beyund me. Quest are intriguing to some degree but burn out after you do the same thing for the what... 11th+ time. Once again. nothing you wouldnt find in a Free MMO.

That sounds like alot of content... dont see how they kan add all that and make it bug free within 6 months. Thats pretty much how much time I give them to get right and get all the major bug fixes out + add good content.. Check back within 3 month just to see if they are doing anything or if the game is still the same.

I personally think the game will go Free 2 Play with-in 1.5 to 2 years at its current level.

Games I've Played: SilkRoad, Flyff, NeoCron, PlanetSide, Rapplez, UpshiftRacer, Drift City, TB, Kwonho, ArchLord, AoA, Exteel, WolfTeam, Shaiyan, WoKF, FFXIV, STO, KoTR, ESO, Defiance, Mabinogi

    Games I'm Playing: Warframe/STO

Games I'm Pondering: The Secret World
