All of this "pre-cu" and "bioware mmo" business has gone way to far. Speculation is fine, but when the forums are filed with people coming on here spewing their, "facts" with a link to some obscure site with an article that somehow proves or dis-proves whether there will be pre-cu servers or a KOTOR mmo, is pure nonsense. You're just trying real hard to make this, "my cousin's brother's uncle" crap look official.

Look, I love old school SWG as much as the next guy. Yes, I was devastated on that fateful day in Nov. '05, but I don't sit around and make up stories in the hopes that the invisible man living in the sky might hear my prayers and make it so. Some of you have taken this so far that it has gone far beyond being a "disgruntled vet" and into the realm of schizophrenia. Yes, I was saddened, and even angered that day way back when, when all the hard work and effort I put into EARNING my jedi, was thrown away in minutes when little Bobby down the street was running around with his newly MADE jedi, yelling at everyone else, calling them all n00bs.  It was a sad, sad day for many of us, and in my opinion, marked the day SWG died. I tried going back later on to play it, but it just wasn't the same.

Whether or not there will be pre-cu servers has yet to be determined. The only real thing that will tell is time. Sure, SOE/LA say as of now, there will be no pre-cu servers. They may change their mind in the months to come, and they may not. Sitting around trying to debunk an interview from someone at LA/SOE for some hidden message that pre-cu servers are on their way is just plain stupid. I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for it to happen. If they one day change their minds and give us pre-cu servers, GREAT! If not, oh well. I'll just go play on an swgemu server. No it won't be the same, but it will be the closest that I'll ever get.

The same thing goes for the KOTOR mmo that may or may not be coming. Again, only time will tell if we are getting it or not. Posting links to some ridiculous site like, www.bobssuperawesomegamingsitethatisneverwrong.com is stupid. Until there is word from a reputable site that can back up their claim, or word from Bioware/LA, then stop trying to predict the future. Bioware may or may not be working on a KOTOR mmo. I won't be holding my breath though. Bioware has already said that the mmo they are working on is NOT Star Wars, but their own ip. Still, despite that, all the schizophrenics out their have been dissecting the interviews/snippets for some hidden message that they are just kidding. Look, I would LOVE to see Bioware make a KOTOR mmo. I would be ecstatic if they made one, but let's get serious. Bioware has already said they are not making a star wars mmo. Everything else that has been linked to/posted has been from random, non-reputable sites saying they really are. Until Bioware says, SURPRISE! then I won't be banking on a KOTOR mmo.

I know this probably won't dissuade the more zealous of conspiracy theorists out there, but perhaps it will get through to a few of you, which would mean a few less stupid threads we would have to wade through every week. That being said, I'm sure there will be a lot of you that will come on here, quoting something I said, and telling us all the "facts" with no evidence what-so-ever to back it up. So c'mon people, let the SWG we knew and loved to go quietly into the night. I think out of respect, it is time we let it go.

Gave you something too post about now didnt it? Granted i could careless what their mmo will "officially be". It wont be ground breaking nore complex as the old game. Too much risk is involved too be creative and original. Nobody wants a none level, loot based leet gear clone...Or do they??...Bioware has allways been about telling you a "Story" not building your own. Why would i want too play a online version of the same crap we see every new game with?

If the rumor is true then expect a very polished version of WowEq with lots of stories too be told. I prefer too live and make my own Stories. But im the minority in the gaming world it seems. I want too be challenged an have tons of options too choose from. Things like that are way too complex ,have too much reading and have been deemed "unfun" "Take too much time to get into". Instant gratification is the catch phrase of todays games . No one it seems wants too do as they please in games and have lots and lots of choices or "mini games" is a better term. Oh well...Same crap different box art..

    Let SWG die!

    Bring on KOTOR:Online!

Bioware will make the best MMORPG ever. Even if it's not KOTOR.

    Actually one big difference.

I will be happy to play a very polished version of WOW/EQ with KOTOR skin. I am not content however to play the extremely shitty WOW ish version of a screwed up timeline buggy as hell POS that SWG has become. At least Bioware may have the decency to make the game good.

eh, in all honesty does it matter? people come to forums to state their opinions and hopes and what they dont like. hell if you head to EA.uk retro games forums you'll see that there are people who are begging for Earth & Beyond 2 or just a release of the original to someone who will actually use the code.

if people want to debate it i say let it go... no use eating up bandwidth for a rant about people ranting.

This is in no way a bash. But i just understand why you would settle on another clone?Just because it has Star Wars on it? Sheesh there has been way more craptastic Star Wars games than good ones. Wasnt until the release of X wing Vs Tiefighter the license lost its crap game label.

Why settle for that when you can play that game currently in the NGE? I swear i play games too be challenged and stress relief, not to be bored too sleep, or hunt bugs for devs paid to find them before me. Granted if it does become a wow engine clone im not sure that will make it or break it for many folks. It hasnt hurt Lotro at all. Personally we have played those same engines for the last 10+ years. Time for a change if they expect too beat WoW an Lotro for a huge sub base. You guys have too think about SW's feel and wide spread populatrity. I hate to admit it but the Fanbase that plays games is alot smaller than the one for WoW. The fan base for "Fantasy" type games is larger as well.

Tis why just about every new MMO is tanking hard. Gamers it would seem arent wanting a new game in Wow clothing. They can do all the focus groups they want too find out why i wont play their games. Crap is crap and i dont play with turds..

Didnt Ea handle SWG Japan servers? Hmmm

Game designers really are in a bind right now.

There are no game entrepreneurs out there, who want to roll the dice, try something new, and see if it clicks.

The moneymen want guaranteed profit. You see this across the board in the US.  Designers can't get funding for something that is 'risky'.  Which is now defined as anything but a WoW clone.

CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested.

Think any MMO devs will realise anytime soon that MMO vets are actually getting sick of dumbed down linear level grinding games? We want to actually get involved in our game, feel a part of it. Not log in, get a BOOM HEADSHOT then log out.

MMO's are actually going backwards not forwards. EVE is the only true forward thinking game out there at the moment. The devs know what they want to achieve and how they want their game to go. Not working their game to pull the WOW crowd.

whats wrong with a community daydreaming about a great series of games being made into an online universe? Me personally, i am looking very forward to it, and I would love to relive Star Wars again. I prefer the episode 4-6 timeline, but KOTR era is full of rich story lines, background and lore. And I think it would make a great game. I got no problem with people being excited with it. Use your own advice, if you don't like it, dont read it.

Please do not twist around what I said. My comment was addressed to the person who's comment was something to the effect that I typed too much in my post. I told them that if they didn't like to read type, they should stay way from forums, seeing as how forums are nothing but READING. I said nothing about reading something you didn't like. If you're going to try and twist around what I've said, please try a little bit harder, or at the very least take the time to read what I typed.

When you post something worth reading then MAYBE some of us will actually take the time to read it.  When you sit and tell us not to talk about something (Bioware MMO) what do you expect?

We'll talk about what we want to and you can either not read it or sit and tell us what we can/can't talk about and watch us flame you.

I have no problem reading I just prefer not to read moronic posts...  Clear it up for you?

So if you thought the post was moronic, why did you feel the need to make an even more moronic comment about it?

The OP expressed her opinion, and that is what the forums are for.  So agree or disagree with the opinion but do not call her opinion moronic because it interrupts your status as a KotOR: Online fanboi.

    Stay cool mate.

    it is so funny.

"being against a popular expectation shows me more adult"

you have nothing to say and your only gun is try to insult people who expects a Kotor game "fanboi" This reaction just proves how pathetic you are.

we are talking about possibilities and we have thesis, and stop attacking personal, stay on subject,  you are just seen miserable.

If she doesn't like what we post and feels the need to call us out on it, fine, but she had better be willing to take it back.  Same on your part.  I love how people try to insult someone in such a "mature" way that it spins back as "advice"...

It's simple.  If we want to talk about it and you two don't like it, don't read it.  It's not like we are making you or going out of our way to bother anyone with it.

By the way, I'm not a KOTOR fanboi.  I've said before on here I prefer KOTOR as an RPG.

    I'll admit it-

    1) I'm a Star Wars fanboi

    2) I'm a KOTOR fanboi

    3) I loved NWN and Jade Empire and every other Bioware game I've played

    4) I'm a MMORPG addict

    so...

Bioware made Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic MMORPG would be just about the best thing since sliced bread

So yeah, I'm foaming at the mouth at any "confirmed" rumor, just waiting for the other shoe to drop

  • ScalebaneScalebane Member UncommonPosts: 1,883

i think i'll have to wait on official word from bioware, i like speculation and all but lately i avoid hype and hope for any game, it leads to constant dissapointment.

I would like to see it skill based, as some games i played with that were alot more fun then alot of current games, but i think i can be pretty sure they'll just take whats popular in mmo's and go with that. Kotor was fun and in some ways i hope its true, but i won't get my hopes up :)

Edit: seems mmo's are going the way of being super easy, probably the same fate for biowares mmo, not that i'm complaining about that, but when games are too easy i get bored quick :/ (never have played swg, but i have been keeping my eye on these rumors)

About time someone said it, there are no facts to confirm there is in development a KOTOR mmo.

Those words seem to be an appropriate motto for SOE public relations: "Get used to it, get over it, abandon hope all ye who enter here"...etc. lol.  Just thinking out loud.  About the rumour festival.  What the heck, people are having fun fantasies of a possible StarWars online future.  That's pretty normative when their online reality is bleak.  I say enjoy, but don't put all your eggs in one fanatasy, just in case it doesn't eventually turn into a basket.  I imagine someone, someday will make a good StarWars MMO, that they will put out a polished product, manage it well, and communicate honestly and respectfully with their playing community.  What a day that would be, and what a refreshing change from what we're used to.

lol I wonder if anyone is trying to talk about this on the soe forums? lmao talk about a thread lock. Im almost tempted to resub for the forums to go post the link to this hread as a response to a new chapt release or some bs important info they think the 2 people playing need
