I'm wondering how well my specs can run this game. I realize I don't have top of the line stuff. I don't need to run on the highest settings, just decent settings without it looking horrible and very choppy. Also if you have any advice on anything that would be a must or very important upgrade I'd be glad to hear.

you should be fine.
I'm playing it on a system worse than that.
I have Intel celery D 2.6 ghz processor, 1gig ram, radeon 9600 128mb video card, windoze xp.
and I can play it fine on medium settings.
I'm about to upgrade to something better so I can max it out and try vanguard.

Currently playing:
FFXIV on Behemoth, FFXI on Eden, and Gloria Victis on NA.
That systems fine and will play EQ2 ok.
Getting another gig of ram however, will make a huge difference.
Good to hear. If I can play it at medium settings until I upgrade I'll be happy. Should be able to at least get another gig of ram soon, I just didn't want to get my hopes up in case I couldn't play it yet.
wow you could play it perfect... i played it on a low end system and it ran pretty good. not really much lag.
768mb ram, intel celeron 2.0, geforce fx 5200 256mb 128 bit
You'll be fine to play though I suggest another gig of ram.
The game won't make use of the dual core, though, because dual core wasn't released when EQ2 was so.
But oo, I want your chip. Mines an Athlon 3700+.
With your video card you won't quite be able to run at max settings. I run mine on very high quality and run out of ram occassionally if I've been playing for many hours so I'm considering upgrading. But its not like its a big deal. You'll still run fine.
i use
amd 64 x2 4200+
1 gig pc 5400 (667mhz) ram
x1600pro Radeon 512meg ram
crappy vid card, but i can play it on balanced just fine (comp was built as a bandaid when my other went belly up...damn cheap surge protector!)
I played it on a 3.0 MHz , 2 gigs of ram and a 9800 pro but don't expect much as far as FPS if you are used to the better optimized graphics in WoW or LOTRO. Just keep the game at medium settings, turn AA and shadows off and you shoulkd be fine. If you still find it glitchy scale back on the draw distance.
I miss DAoC
Although when the game launched there were people who had to upgrade just to be able to play with with out massive lag. Now a days it can be played on even a bare bone system! I mean I remember the giant loading times when the game first launch, however with something as simple as +1gig of ram lag/loading times become a thing of the past. It's been optomized these past 3 years, so unless you're running a 1ghz, 256mb sdram, with on board video, you will be fine!
I don't own a computer that can't play it, even my laptop can play it on balance!
AMD 64 3200+
1280 pc333 ram
Radeon 9600
So no one NEEDS to upgrade to play EQ2 unless you have a rig from 7 years ago, unless you want to play on max. The game does look beautiful on my Desktop, but when I'm in the family room watching a game or something and want to get a few things done, the laptop is a lifesaver!
