Server Merges with SWG are not going to happen anytime soon, so if you are waiting for it to happen then return now, and enjoy the game. SWG is far greater and just as fun as it was pre-NGE, and the game is getting better and better all the time.
sir you are:
Only if you have a limitted imaginiation or do not like Star Wars.
Here is an excellent example of why SWG is still great:
WTF???? are you on crack or something....this game is NOTHING like pre-NGE......to totally alter the basic core of the game and gameplay after 2 and a half years of play is stupid and bad business.
No, just moved on, and playing the only SWG MMO worthwhile playing.
I have played many other MMOs since the NGE, but tha crafting element, player housing and the way the players can change the environment make this the only game that provides a proper living breathing world.
Each time you log in, you can see that other players have been online, by houses/harvesters being placed where there were none, or removed and something else in its place. You can't do this is Everquest 2, LOTRO, World of Warcraft, City of Heroes, Vanguard etc
As annoying as the changes are, I believe that if it was not for the changes, I could possibly have quit the game long ago (that is if I had maxed out my pre-NGE Jedi) and not be playing now.
The new collections system is great, it is not in live but is on test center.
If you are still hanging on to the past, and disgruntled from the NGE, you are missing out on a great game.
If there is going to be a SWG 2 it will probably be like EQ2, WOW etc and not have the complex crafting element nor the player housing as these are the main elements preventing the server merges.
LMAO, you are playing the ONLY SWG MMO available. Give us a break. You are in the .01% minority of the human population that thinks SWG isn't 100% junk. Congratulations. I think it's hilarious you waste your time and money playing a dead-end game that is overwhelmingly considered one of the worst MMO's in history.

A poke in the eye is better than a kick in the nuts?
It seems that people in this forum have not gotten over the NGE from 2 years ago.
I should have said SW MMO , not SWG MMO, or even dropped the SWG all together.
SWG > All other MMOs fior its uniqueness and the crafting elements
All other MMOs, you have run around and stand there gathering resources, with SWG you can drop a harvestor to gather resources then go off and have fun, come back and you have your resources.
SWG has a ground game and also has JTL, the space game, which is still the same since JTL was released - SOE have not yet altered this. Play now before they do! All other MMOs, just have the ground game
SWG allows you drop houses in the game world, no other MMO has this, it is usually an instance.
All other aspects of SWG, is also in other MMOs, and I found the UI to City of Heroes more annoying than the UI with the NGE
There is not one feature in other MMOs, that SWG does not have
The NGE may seem like a kick in the nuts or a poke in the eye, but once you wipe the old SWG from your minds, and concentrate on the NGE as a new game but with your progression and stats carried over, then you can start to enjoy SWG again. Trying to get into other MMOs, was even more painful than playing NGE, as it just highligted the lack of features they did not have that SWG NGE still has

Shame, as you are missing out.
Dude I have played SEVERAL times since Nov. 2005, ableit for a few days at a time because the game is more boring than watching the grass in my lawn grow. Economy is SHOT. Playerbase is TINY. Very little progress in 2 years... You know the story.

The only reason SWG has low ratings, was because everyone was so miffed with the NGE, that they rated the game with the lowest rating possible, and have stuck to this opinion ever since without spending the time to get to know the game again.

Exactly, that is what happens when a company burns its customers.

A few days at a time makes an accurate assessment, not
Playerbase is tiny because people have listened to people like you, on opinions of old rather than opinions of now, and not bother with it. The only thing wrong with the game right now is the lack of players. If more players returned to the game, then they could see its greatness, post positive reviews and will be back on top.
Anybodys opinion of SWG means squat if they no longer play the game.
On the SWG forums, I see more posts of players returning than leaving.
SWG sucked but not now, and will suck even less when Chapter 7 (and 8) are implemented.
The only reason SWG has low ratings, was because everyone was so miffed with the NGE, that they rated the game with the lowest rating possible, and have stuck to this opinion ever since without spending the time to get to know the game again.

The company burned the customers back in 2005. But the misguided opinions of players who got burnt and still not willing to play, are now burning the existing customers.
Posting misinformed negative opinions of SWG over the place will not hurt SOE, but does hurt the existing customers who want to play SWG. If you don't like SWG and not willing to play, then please do not continue to post negativity all over the place.

SWG is far greater and just as fun as it was pre-NGE, and the game is getting better and better all the time. This thread is a pure example of how SOE end up getting a bad reputation, the OP just speculates and talks crap
Speculation: I don't think this word means what you think it means.
For example SWGMOD001 locked the thread. The mod works for SOE. SOE locked the thread- not speculation. That's referred to in contemporary terms as a fact. Complaining about a thread doesn't cause someone else to lock it. Unless you're his employer.
Smedley said he'd fast-track server mergers, needs to be at the top of the to-do list etc. Also a fact, not speculation.
Smedley said this at face-to-face meetings with players, and did so in response to player requests- fact.
Server mergers did not happen, although players were told they would be fast-tracked- yup another fact.
A thread with posts stating that servers are empty or nearly empty and asking for server-mergers that Smedley said will be fast tracked (but weren't--see above facts) was locked for alleged "trolling"--yes indeedy it's another fact.
Threads were locked and deleted in the aftermath of the NGE if they provided negative feedback about the game changes and requested classic servers- yup the facts just keep coming. Players who even asked about classic servers were banned from forum useage- there's that f-word again.
SOE (Smedley) said something would be fast-tracked, players present were encouraged and thankful, SOE didn't follow through, and now a thread asking for mergers has been locked. This chain of events happens to remind me of the chain of events around the time of the NGE. I see a similar pattern, so I commented on it. Why the pattern existed in the first place, and why it seems to be playing out again, well that would call for speculation. I've often asked myself why SOE deals with its player community the way it does. I can't come up with a rational response. So much for speculation--I really can't imagine why they do what they do, but you know what? A lot of people don't like it--that's another fact.
The only reason SWG has low ratings, was because everyone was so miffed with the NGE, that they rated the game with the lowest rating possible, and have stuck to this opinion ever since without spending the time to get to know the game again.

Ok so I have a very hard decision to make here. Who should I trust, the 95% of people who have abandoned 1year+ of effort in SWG and moved to enjoying new games since CU/NGE, or the few remaining?
Actually the debate is futile. Existing customers can enjoy it and if their faith is genuine, they should not be annoyed at the disgruntle expressed by the dissidents. If you really enjoy your game, you hardly care what the critics says. Do you enjoy the game?
When I was enjoying my days in CoX, Lotro and whatever else, I hardly bother who goes criticising the game in a board. I will be looking for information that will enhance my gameplay. When I am done with the game, I cherish the days and never feel the need to bash or criticise it. That is a mark of a good successful game, that satisfied the client during the duration of business contract, we called subscription. That, alas, is not the case for the majority of the clients who once do business with SWG.
The opinion of the playes who got burnt cannot burn existing customers. These saddened guys are no longer online, they will not be shooting at you in the starports. No one is shooting at you when you are online, that is what is burning you. No one is playing with you. Why is that? Ask SoE, they screw it up in 2005, as you have correctly pointed out, and after 2 years SoE cannot bring up a solution that fix the bad move.
Yes SoE tried but it does not work, the 2005 move is not undone, who is the be blamed? SoE who screwed it up? or the rest of us who got screwed?

I mean, I can respect a player who enjoys playing SWG as it exists today, to each his own eh, and if they having fun atm then more power to em, but to claim its "far greater and just as fun as preNGE" is a total fallacy, plain and simple. Look in any SWG related forum, and the vast majority of posters are not happy with the current version of SWG, and most look upon PreCUNGE as the glory days of the game, one would have to be blind or ignorant to not see this. You know its not just a fluke that here at mmorpg.com the SWG "refugee" forums post count beats the "current" forums post count by more than 3-1. Hell, I'd even go so far as to say the majority of people still playing SWG feel the same way, PreCUNGE pwns NGE no matter how you slice it. But, I think you mightve just hit upon a possible new ad campaign for SWG, ya never know, just may work...

Believe it or not, I respect where you're coming from here. It sounds like you're enjoying the game, and don't want it to die from low populations. I'm still with you. It also seems like you think that comments like mine are responsible for low populations or will keep people away from the game. You also talk as though the NGE was an isolated event that stubborn people refuse to let go of. It's on these last two points that I see things differently.
SOE/LA are their own worst enemies for bad press, not the players they jerked around. Look at a thread entitled "NGE not an isolated incident" if you want to see all the different times and ways these companies misled and/or did things to players that were hurtful and irresponsible. People are going to comment on all of those things. A history of saying one thing, doing the other, intentionally misleading people, taking away things, disabling things and breaking others is going to generate negative feedback. If SOE/LA don't want all this negative feedback, they really need to get serious about putting out a polished product and being honest and respectful to their players. When I see, hear about a polished product and that players are being given accurate information about the game's past, present and future, believe me, I'll comment on it favourably. SOE/LA have a lot of work to do to restore their credibility. They claim that they've learned from their mistakes. Well people, like me, are going to be watching to see if evidence supports this. When the evidence contradicts their p.r. statements, people like me are going to call them on it.
When (if) they start following through on what they say to players at face to face summits, when (if) they consistenly put out content that is functional and enjoyable, and when (if)they treat players with respect, they (you) won't have to try to silence people who call them to account for their behaviour. I think their past history makes this an uphill battle for them, but again, they earned their current reputation. They are going to have to work very hard and very consistently at changing the way they do business if they want to earn trust and credibility with possible customers.
People left the game because the NGE was a complete and utter bug fest piece of crap. It broke so much more than it even attempted to fix. It also was designed to entice new players to the game at the expense of losing current subscribers, like yourself. Yes SOE considered you disposable to the droves of ex-WoW players they were going to attract to their game.
People didn't leave because of bad reviews, people left because SOE screwed them over. When apologizing history revisionists like yourself show up and blame the ex players for SWG troubles you empower SOE to behave as they have. Trying to recruit for them goes beyond stupidity. SOE abandoned their players and they are reaping what they sewed. Don't blame us.
For all the talk about how "great" swg is, I notice you never once talk about playing with other people. You allude to their being others in the game because you can see they changed a house or something. Kind of like being the last man alive on earth huh? Sorry I like to play with real live people, not look for evidence someone painted something so I can watch it dry.
I understand there is no Star wars alternative, but come on already. Even the little dutch kid at the dike could take one look at SWG and realize he doesn't have enough fingers.
The game might be the greatest ever. I will never know. It was great pre CU and SOE really messed it up. Why would i want to return or say good things about such a game? Whats to stop SOE from ruining the game again?
No matter what SOE will always have the ruining of the game over their heads and people will make their decision to play it because of it. They could turn SWG into the greatest game ever made and still I wouldnt play it cause I would always think they will be ruining it next patch.

You've given me a lot to respond to lol wow. Why did I rate SWG low?
-deleted all 3 of the mastered professions I worked on for nearly 2 years.
-deleted the quest progress I accumulated in game for nearly 2 years re. unlocking a jedi. I read in a Star Wars insider magazine that I could "unravel the mystery of the jedi" in the game, and I spent about a year and a half doing it. Then when I was on the last quest to unlock---NGE (quest over, progress deleted)
-key game functions like chat, combat and movement DID NOT WORK when they pushed out the NGE long before it was ready,
-items in the paid for expansion that I JUST BOUGHT were rendered useless.
I could go on and on and on about how you couldn't even decorate your house in the NGE, could see your pets locked up but couldn't call them, elite items purchased in boxed expansions rendered disabled etc. etc.
If I can't walk, talk, or shoot. If my professions are gone and my quest progress deleted. Why oh why would I give the game a high rating??? That would be truly psychotic.
Also, for the record, I played the game for 4-6 months after the NGE. This was a very frustrating experience. Devs and mods were absolutely brutal to players, and players themselves were at each other's throats. The game was a disaster and everyone was frustrated. You put normally nice people in an abnormal situation, and man things can get ugly fast; and they did.
And, I have friends that I"m in touch with now that STILL play the game. Some have quit and gone back a number of times. My thinking, observations, comments draw on their experiences as well as my own.

I meant that SWG is greater than it was since NGE in Nov 2005 (not that it is greater than the pre-NGE era) but is still just as fun as pre-NGE
To be honest though, all I was doing pre-NGE was grabbing missions, then killing the mobs and its lair, rinse and repeat all day long. Repetitive gameplay, all for the cause of the Jedi grind. Now I'm doing all the quests of the Wookiee planet, Mustafar, still got the revamped faction theme parks to do. Currently getting back into the crafting which I neglected due to the grind. The game is far from over for me. Since the NGE I have been living a Star Wars life, not just being a vegetable stuck in front of the VDU grinding Jedi.
However, I would sell my soul to get a time machine and go back to 2003 and forget about the Jedi grind, and do what I am doing now.

You might be able to help make the game more appealing (and enjoyable for my pals who still play) if you focus on getting SOE/LA be straight with their current players. If they say one thing and do another, call them on it. Let them know that they're shooting themselves in the foot with that kind of nonsense. If they put out new content that takes things away from people or breaks game functionality, let them know that standards for MMO games are higher, and that people aren't going to pay for that kind of product. If you have a bug or submit a ticket, and you never get a response, let them know that this kind of customer service is below the industry standard. People are going to go elsewhere and your game really is going to die. If SOE/LA listen to you, and give people a consistently good experience over time, I'd love to hear about it. That'd be good news.
If you try any of that, and get posts moved, deleted and get banned, ignored, well I'm sorry lol, that's what happened to me, and I really don't wish that on anyone. If they've really changed though, they'll listen...right?
It was not SOE got the thread locked it was me. I reported the thread to the mods, as the last update from SOE was that there was going to be no server merges. Smedley did say it was going to be fast tracked, but after players rejected the idea the server merges got canned. Actually it is because the coding prevents server merges, they just said that to make it look like they listen to the community. Discussing server merges does nothing to attract players to return to the game especially as if a people think a server merge does happen then players will lose their badges and progress with the new collections system, so players will wiat to return until after the server merge Server merges are not wanted by the playerbase, SOE can't do it successfully. Server Merges with SWG are not going to happen anytime soon, so if you are waiting for it to happen then return now, and enjoy the game. SWG is far greater and just as fun as it was pre-NGE, and the game is getting better and better all the time.
FACT - I reported the thread that got locked
FACT - There was another thread on server merges which did not get locked. (link below)
FACT - I told the mods to say in their locked post that server merges are not on the agenda atm, as I did not want people to think a server merge was on the agenda, because if it was people would wait for the merge and not come back
FACT - If you read server merges threads (as above) you will see more people against a server merge than for one.
FACT - SOE reported after Smedleys fast tracked comment that server merges were removed from the agenda as players were aginst server merges, as it was technically not viable. Smedley fast tracked it (SOE did follow through) as people mentioned it, but as it was fast tracked the devs advised against it due to the restrictions, and so players were also against it. The restrictions for character transfer would also apply to server merges (see below)
Guidelines and Restrictions
Characters moving WITHOUT items will ONLY be allowed to take their appearance, experience and skills with them. All items, pets, credits, badges, quest status, etc. will NOT transfer with character.
Characters moving WITH items will NOT be allowed to take their factory crates, resources, items in datapad (vehicles, mounts, pets/droids, factory schematics and packed up houses), bank contents and structures. The override function will allow the move to proceed even if those items exist on the character.
It is highly recommended that you do not give away or destroy existing items upon requesting a transfer, as it is possible that your move request may be denied. Items deleted or given away in anticipation of a future move will not be replaced.
If you already have two characters on a galaxy you wish to move to, you will need to delete one of the characters to make room for the transferred character.
Player Association Affiliations: We will be removing any Player Association affiliation as part of the character move process.
Characters will not be moved to Galaxies that are less than 6 months old.
When moving characters between accounts, you must be the registered owner of both accounts. You will be required to enter a valid credit card as the only form of payment for this character move service. If you are currently paying for your account with a Game Card or GlobalCollect or other official payment options, you must submit credit card information using the billing information fields provided.
No refunds will be permitted once your request is approved and processed. If you change your mind about moving your characters after they have already been moved, you will need to fill out an additional Request Form to move the characters back to the original Galaxy or account and you will again be charged the applicable transfer fees. In the event that you return to your originating Galaxy, items, credits, pets, structures, or any other tangible game components can not be restored upon return to that Galaxy.
All approved requests will be processed when reasonably practicable to do so. SOE reserves the right to deny any attempted request to transfer in its sole and absolute discretion for any reason or no reason.
The Request Form cannot be used to move more than one character; if you would like to move multiple characters to multiple Galaxies, you will need to fill out additional Request Forms (and pay the applicable transfer fees).
There are no discounts for multiple transfer requests. The fees described above apply for each Request Form.
If you attempt to transfer characters in violation of these guidelines and restrictions, any laws, the Terms of Use for Star Wars Galaxies or the Rules and Policies (for instance, attempting to transfer characters from another person's account or to or from an account purchased by or for you or given to you where you are not the original registered user of that account), the characters will not be moved, your request will not be processed or approved and your account(s) will be subject to review and appropriate disciplinary action taken.
Character names are not guaranteed on galaxy-to-galaxy transfers. If the character's name has already been used on the Galaxy you wish to move to, you will be able to enter a new name in the field provided (subject to the terms and conditions of the Character Naming Policy).
Account-to-account transfers on the same Galaxy will require a name change. You will be given the option to choose a new name.
If you currently have 8 characters across all Galaxies, you will need to delete one in order to make a transfer.
The thread probably got locked as there was another thread on server merges so there was no point on their being two. If I was a mod on a forum I may have locked it myself. It does not indicate the NGE locking era, as both server merge threads would have been locked otherwise.
In the past when they locked server merges threads they stated that a server merge is not happening, which is why I said for them to say that, but they said "Trolling". Perhaps a server merge is coming? I hope not. The dev time would be better spent on adding content to the game.

No one else can doubt your own feeling to NGE as it stands now. Almost none of us play it now, so it might be God Almighty or crap, and we don't know. AND we don't care. We got burnt once, we do not need to go back and wait for the next disastrous move by SoE.
As pointed out earlier, you never refer to interacting with other people as key to your fun. You say you got lots of quests to do, oh come on, Lotro and WoW is littered with tons of quests. You got lots of crafting left to do, EQ2 for one has very tough crafting grinds. You got what to do in SWG (as it stands now) that no other title has? The label Star Wars. You have in SWG a ghost town, and that is something a lot of the better populated games do not share.
Sorry, I for one do not feel motivated by your description of SWG now. Even without the history of SoE, what you described is no more than a mediocre game, and what you did not mentioned (grouping) suggested to me that its a solo game cos no one else is online. Adding SoE to it, come on, do I need to waste my precious game hours trying it out?
If I want a solo SW game? Bioware ... that is a much less frustrating optioin.
Superniceguy: Your long passage is too long to quote.
So Smed promised something the company cannot delivered? What do you call it? Bad company. Not honest company. Stupid company who does not know its limits when they send a rep blowing their own trumpets. Don't blame me for being disappointed if I got promised a lot and then for some technical reasons were all denied to me. Am I guilty because SoE screwed up again, yes making false promise is a big screw up.
Is it hard to implement a merge that does not alienate a lot of people? Not that I know of. Many games did it, and smoothly. If SoE find difficulties in doing something so many others have done, maybe its unique to the game design of SWG (that is call bad design, not flexible, poor anticipation of future changes ...), maybe its due to a stupid engineer assigned to work on this, maybe ..., but then who is to be blamed? We, us, the paying customers, who expect our game provider to be at least as intelligent as the next one down the street? Yes in my view, that is an indication that the staff deployed by SoE to handle SWG is subpar. After 2 years they cannot fix the damage from NGE. In the year 2007, they have problems merging a server. Come on, tomorrow they will tell us that they lost our characters b/c a mouse ate their tape, and we applaud them for their speed in identifying the cause?
Whether they lock a thread or not does not really matter to us. We do not watch it there, and we are not interested in what is going on there. We just feel sad cos you accuse us of screwing up the existing SWG clients, people who I never know, will not run into, till they leave SWG.
No no.... you got that totally wrong, anyone with coding/technical knowledge could tell you this: its not that coding prevents them from doing server merges.. its the fact that if they do merges.. whats going to happen to housing? yeah.... houses would be on top of others... but then again they could force people from the server thats doing the moving to redo the houses once they were integrated... but that would be too much work wouldn't it? Besides, if they merged servers it would make them look like they were losing in this fight.. OH NOES NOT BAD PR!! lol... It has nothing to do with coding issues as I have stated an easy workaround. Discussing server merges does nothing to attract players to return to the game especially as if a people think a server merge does happen then players will lose their badges and progress with the new collections system, so players will wiat to return until after the server merge Uhh... the only data that they would lose in a merge would be anything that is placable like a house... achivments is easily (with time of course) reintegrated. But I do agree with the bad PR.. one can only hope eh? Server merges are not wanted by the playerbase, SOE can't do it successfully. Server Merges with SWG are not going to happen anytime soon, so if you are waiting for it to happen then return now, and enjoy the game. I beg to differ... "no people around... no intrest in game"... it is an mmorpg after all, its about socialization. So people can have a big intrest in changing servers fast... regardless is they have to replant a house or not. Oh they could do it successfully and anything they state otherwise is smoke being forced down your wind pipe. I can understand why you believe them, you "seeming" like you don't have a bigger grasp on techical knowledge... no offense of course. I wouldn't believe them so easily if i were you. SWG is far greater and just as fun as it was pre-NGE, and the game is getting better and better all the time. This one made me laugh. Something tells me that you either didn't play pre-cu or something... sure pre cu had its bugs but at least the system that was in tact felt like it belonged... unlike this POS they have in there now... now.. well ill use an example... it feels like someone took out the engine of your souped up 69 camaro and replaced it with an engine of an old volvo. It just doesn't belong... and they did this twice. This thread is a pure example of how SOE end up getting a bad reputation, the OP just speculates and talks crap Uh.. lol for good reason... dude... seriously.. if you think that taking 3+ years of people achievments, styles of playing, etc. and suddenly changed it to where there is hardly as much freedom at all in the way you play (tree vs iconic class) is not deserving of bad reputation.. then you seriously need to rethink what you just said (someone that doesn't know the facts) ... or get out (a troll)..
Thats really all there is too it...

Originally posted by ArcAngel3 You've given me a lot to respond to lol wow. Then when I was on the last quest to unlock---NGE (quest over, progress deleted) -key game functions like chat, combat and movement DID NOT WORK when they pushed out the NGE long before it was ready, -items in the paid for expansion that I JUST BOUGHT were rendered useless.
Good god, you made alot of points on what the NGE broke and took away, I remember having to push the mouse button repeatively to attack which eventually broke my mouse and that Jedi had 0 armor for about 6 months into the NGE and half the attributes didn't work (added damage, defense, group buffs). I too was not too happy, why did they have to go and turn anti-decay kits into profession restart kits? The economy was practically stopped to a halt after the NGE now that there is no decay involved, decay and repairs was what made your satisifed customers come back to buy more of your products or have you repair them.
The loss of creature handler and ranger hurt the most, the two that were really a time sink to spend in and gave you oppourtunities to expore the planet's wilderness on foot and to be an asset to your group.
With the beast master addition, it seems to involve ALOT of DNA collecting and incubing which seems to be costing people lots of money and time, when I played during the vet trial I saw only 3 people that had pets, several others were working on gathering resources and money.
Also I looked into the new collections system; come on, 800 rancors, 600 skreegs, etc. etc. to get bonuses? This is clearly a carrot on stick to keep customers busy and subscribed longer, this is a clear indication that SOE is on its last leg with SWG and they continue to rebalance all the professions over and over and over, they are once again tweaking BH's shield to have even less glancing blows than now which costs 20 expertise points to get, many on forums has considered dropping it for chapter 7.

You're preaching to the wrong crowd... We are older than the age of 12. (Target Audience)
A poke in the eye is better than a kick in the nuts?
It seems that people in this forum have not gotten over the NGE from 2 years ago.I should have said SW MMO , not SWG MMO, or even dropped the SWG all together.

I suggest you take a look at the listing of MMO's out there or even on this site. Though you are true that there will never be another SWG again. SWG has become a case study, of a game that had potential but was poorly managed.
And that is why...

Dude I have played SEVERAL times since Nov. 2005, ableit for a few days at a time because the game is more boring than watching the grass in my lawn grow. Economy is SHOT. Playerbase is TINY. Very little progress in 2 years... You know the story.
The masses don't lie, SWG sucks.

The only reason SWG has low ratings, was because everyone was so miffed with the NGE, that they rated the game with the lowest rating possible, and have stuck to this opinion ever since without spending the time to get to know the game again.

SoE who screwed it up? or the rest of us who got screwed?
lmao, seriously trippin indeed. For petes sake even SOE has said the NGE was a mistake, you think theyd say that if in fact the game was truly doing better now than before they made their "mistake"? To say one "made a mistake" implies you did something WRONG with your choices. Use simple logic for a minute here (instead of whatever problem solving method pumps thru the head of a rabid fanboy apparently), if the NGE'd SWG was indeed "far greater" wouldnt you think the subscription numbers would be higher now than they were preCUNGE?
But, I think you mightve just hit upon a possible new ad campaign for SWG, ya never know, just may work...
"Uh, we had a slight weapons malfunction, but uh... everything's perfectly all right now.
We're fine. We're all fine here now, thank you. How are you?"
Exactly, that is what happens when a company burns its customers.
The company burned the customers back in 2005. But the misguided opinions of players who got burnt and still not willing to play, are now burning the existing customers.Posting misinformed negative opinions of SWG over the place will not hurt SOE, but does hurt the existing customers who want to play SWG. If you don't like SWG and not willing to play, then please do not continue to post negativity all over the place.

I suggest you take a look at the listing of MMO's out there or even on this site. Though you are true that there will never be another SWG again. SWG has become a case study, of a game that had potential but was poorly managed.
The only reason SWG has low ratings, was because everyone was so miffed with the NGE, that they rated the game with the lowest rating possible, and have stuck to this opinion ever since without spending the time to get to know the game again.
You've given me a lot to respond to lol wow. Why did I rate SWG low?-deleted all 3 of the mastered professions I worked on for nearly 2 years.

FACT - I reported the thread that got lockedFACT - There was another thread on server merges which did not get locked. (link below)
http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/posts/list.m?topic_id=511515
The thread probably got locked as there was another thread on server merges so there was no point on their being two. If I was a mod on a forum I may have locked it myself. It does not indicate the NGE locking era, as both server merge threads would have been locked otherwise.
In the past when they locked server merges threads they stated that a server merge is not happening, which is why I said for them to say that, but they said "Trolling". Perhaps a server merge is coming? I hope not. The dev time would be better spent on adding content to the game.

Thats really all there is too it...
