I plan to throw a big bash with a monster bonfire. Everyone can bring their disks and we'll place them in the center while sitting around the fire drinking and trying to use the force to keep the disks from burning.
It won't work. That'll be awesome!
You?

why would you be happy?
I for one will be sad the day it goes offline....while i dont really play anymore, been playing eq2 for the last 2 months, i will miss the memories the game gave me for the last 4 years, the friends and relationships i made, and the great game that kept me glued to the computer for 4 years.
And i will be sad for those who still love the game, and will lose it if it ever goes offline.
Sorry...i won't be happy one bit, i will actually be very sad.
Hopefully... by firing up SWG2 or Kotor Online.
...
As long as they are not rolled out by SOE, that is.
Even in mourning you should celebrate. Celebrate what was, what is now, and what will never be again.
WIll i be happy im ot sure.
I will miss all the friends i had pre cu.
And maybe toast to what it could have been if a able dev and producer ran it.
And hope some good comes of it, that maybe it will never happen again.
But $OE and L/A will still not get my $$$$. for any game...
I will celebrate by playing KOTOR Online.
PRE-CU was everything I was looking for in a game and I truly loved being a crafting Doctor. Doctor was the bomb back then because you could craft, you could heal and/or you could grind, it was the best of all worlds...
I don't care about the existing game anymore nor do I care about that sad lot of 10K or so players who are still playing on the ghost town servers...
Let SWG die the death it deserves so that another game company can buy the rights to Star Wars and make a game worthy of such a proud name.
I won't party.. or cheer... I might shed a tear though... Because not only is the.. thing.. that replaced my once beloved game gone... but countless of people that enjoy the game in it's current state will have lost theirs as well... and they will feel the same loss I do.. and I'll pity them..
Might sound a bit melodramatic, and probably I'll get shite for actually saying how I feel... But... In honesty... I really don't care.
Lemme know when you develop it...cause no one else is.
Lemme know when you develop it...cause no one else is.
Actually, you're a bit late to be holding a party, ...since Pre-CU/SWG was taken off line almost 2 years ago...

How about some facts...
How many servers did swg start with?
How did cu & nge effect server populations?
When did they start merging servers?
How many servers are there now, and aprox populations thereon?
How does the $0E swg compare to the EA and others versions, even console versions; server and population wise?
The most direct protest against them for ruining the game is ceasing to support them through monthly subscriptions and purging their software from one's computer. (ie. root kits, ect)
It will be truely sad when SWG is officiallly dead. I had a lot of great times playing galaxies and it's depressing just thinking aboutt the fact that no one will ever be able to play it again.
I don't claim to be right, I'm just posting.
Lets see ill do multiple things:
First I would shout and grin and be happy that SoE finally lost the game due to their shady actions.
Then I would get more serious and think about a game that was and will never be again and toast (with the finest liquor i can get from the store) to the memory of pre-cu. Perhaps I would even get together a ventrillo server of old friends of SWG in the past and talk about memories.
Then finally I'll post on here saying thanks to all those people that kept posting the truth about SoE on these threads. Sad that they never brought pre-cu back but glad that they got what they deserved for such bad and shady decisions.
Yup thats probably what i'll do. Hmm, perhaps I should go and get some liquor soon eh? lol.

Strap my discs to a few fireworks and blow them the feck up.
oh wait done that last year.
probably still troll this forum telling SOE to bring back Pre-CU and still send smeds at least 1 email a week with highlights from these boards
I'll reminisce the old days when veterans had a soul and backbone and thought nothing of helping newcomers with gear and hard-earned experience. I'll think of the friends I made, the deep bonds and the startling honesty. I'll always cherish the memory of the twin sunset on Tatooine and the rowdy boys from Anchorhead Rebel Defense Force.
SWG Pre-CU truly embodied the theory of the "third" place. It was the first infant step towards an almost surreal merge between a virtual and actual/real state of being.
I shall celebrate by remembering the words, "Now is the winter of our discontent", because even though SOE/LA will eventually loose this contest of wills, we lost our home a long time ago on a server far far away...
BTW: Han Solo shot first, otherwise he wouldn't be Han Solo, now would he?
It's such a long time in the future, theres no use even thinking about it.

SWG? Pull the plug already!
I'm not sure what you all are talking about?
The last SWG server went offline back in late April 2005!
This CU/NGE disasters doesn't deserve to be called StarWars Galaxies!
However, speaking about party. I will raise my glass to SWG publish 8, probably the allround best version of SWG. Cheers!
I will wait for that one post in which we all will know will happen:
The "SWG has closed because of you negative people," message.
I will reply and with a smile of, "Thanks. Today is wonderful, Today is Great. To know that we, the vocal minority killed a game. It is truly a wonderful feeling to have one's revenge quenched." Then to have a Hot Brandy.
(rather than to go and explain that the fault was with SOE and LAE)
And that is why...
Conservatives' pessimism is conducive to their happiness in three ways. First, they are rarely surprised -- they are right more often than not about the course of events. Second, when they are wrong they are happy to be so. Third, because pessimistic conservatives put not their faith in princes -- government -- they accept that happiness is a function of fending for oneself. They believe that happiness is an activity -- it is inseparable from the pursuit of happiness.
I'd feel sad if they pulled the plug on SWG, even though I'm not playing it right now, because as long as it is still live there is hope.
I will party the same way that the civilians across the galaxy celebrated at the end of return of the jedi, when the evil empire (SOE) and the evil emperor (Smedley) finally are destroyed... except there will be NO dancing teddy bears with sticks... that's just wrong
It will be a happy day for me and my friends that quit SWG after NGE
SWG truly is FUBAR and even SOE knows this, thats why they won't try to seriously repair it and just maintain it with skeleton crew as long as theres enough people that have so low standards to make profit out of it. It's too late to repair it anymore, lots of new games coming up soon.
like it's 1969?
I'll go in my back yard, start a fire in my pit, toss in my SWG discs, sit quietly and remember the good old days of pre-CU, think of what it could have been, slam a couple shots of Jack, pour some for my SWG homies I lost, go inside and hit the hay with a heavy sigh, and saw logs like I haven't done since the NGE came online. Only on that day will I have hope for all MMORPGs to come. NOT!!
There is no hope. SOE couldn't fix the problems with the Pre-CU version, the CU version or the blandness of the NGE. There is no hope. Let it die.
