That's right folks get out the cookie cutters. Another WOW mission based clone headed your way. For the love of Devil give me something original. Is that too much to ask?

Umm...Did you even play this game or research it for one real second?  It doesn't play like WoW at all.  Beyond some similarities that ALL games in the RPG genre share, the core gameplay is very different from WoW.

Is this meant to be a troll or something?  The gameplay is so obviously different that you come across as stupid.

The Op is just an idiot, quite possibly a WoW fanboi. The sad fact is that all games no matter how they put it together are mission based. Even if I were to make a game with no text, you just start out in the middle of a room with a bunch of guys running at you waving axes your going to try and kill them and that is a mission. Even if there are no quests but there is a level above yours, the mission is to level up. Levels are a mission, walking somewhere is a mission. Everything is a mission whether it is stated or not. Personally I would rather get xp for those missions that not.

and where do you think wow came from? most likely UO, EQ, Games Workshop (the green orcs), tolkien (elves, human, dwarfs vs orcs, trolls etc.)

Hellgate isn't really mission based. It's a hack-n-slash game. The missions are really secondary goals. The object is to kill mobs for good loot. Like Diablo II you can run the same instance over and over trying to receive better gear. In WoW you know what gear the bosses drop every time, not so in HGL. Mobs can be very challenging when you climb to higher levels or quest in groupls. The mobs become more difficult the more members you have in a party. Plus in HGL no weapon type or armor type is inherently superior to any other. Although higher level gear will be better than the lower level gear.   Whats more important is knowing the mob's weaknesses and using the appropriate weapons to kill it. You can instantly switch 3 weapons fits. Plus you can dual wield weapons. And this can really come in handy. For example a blade master can hold a fire sword in one hand and a tractor beam pistol in the other. Draw the mob to you and kill it with the sword.

IMO HGL is a hybrid linear/sandbox game in that you do level and the quests can lead you where to go. But it's up to the player to decide which weapons and armor to get there. No one weapon will get the job done. All weapons can be upgraded.  So wisely choose the right weapon.

You sir, are not good enough for cookies.  Fudge maybe, but not cookies.

    incorrect fudge > cookie

And I really wish games would move away from a generic mission structure, which really took off with WOW.  If the singleplayer game is like what I saw, thats a no buy from me.  They are just uninteresting tacked on crud.  Bring back the days of a game linked by storyline, not kill X amount of monsters, or fetch prosthetic legs.
