World of Warcraft: Online Atlas

SzarkSzark News ManagerMember Posts: 4,420

Blizzard has announced the new World of Warcraft Online Atlas, where players can find all sorts of useful geographic information.

The World of Warcraft Online Atlas is here! The new Online Atlas is an informative resource to help you navigate the many locations and regions of Azeroth and Outland using an intuitive Flash interface. The Atlas has two display modes:

Detailed Region Info: See all the regions of Azeroth and Outland by clicking the minimap on the upper left. Each region is marked with cities, towns, dungeons, and other points of interest. Clicking on each marker displays additional information -- for example, clicking on a town shows you what resources are available there, such as trainers, flightmasters, and repair merchants. Detailed capital city maps are also available from each continent's drop-down menu.

Customized Region Info: Clicking on the Customized Region Info tabs displays an overlay on the world map highlighting only the particular type of information you select. For example, clicking on the Transportation tab brings up all the flight paths and boat/zeppelin stops in the world, and the Region Levels filter displays the appropriate level range for all regions in the world.

We hope you'll find the new Online Atlas handy in your World of Warcraft adventures!

Whether WoW is your cup of tea or not for an online game, Blizzard keeps adding useful features rather commonly.  Seems compared to other online games too that it is at a faster pace.  I currently am not playing WoW anymore, but have been tempted & probably will try it again once that experience bonus is implemented.  Having this type of map able to be accessed while ingmae would be beneficial too if it's not already.

Yeah I do admit that their offline content added has really been nice.  The armory feature was a great way to check out upgrades or that Warrior that kept pwning you in battlegrounds.

This is another nice feature, nothing that I couldn't live without, but it's nice they add stuff like this for free.  Unlike SOE which charges you for some nifty features....

Wow so the entire game is on Easy Mode now except the Raids, End Content, and possibly the pvp?!  What a crock, whats the point of exploring and doing things for yourself?   THOTBOTT ruined it first but this just makes it worse.   Why play when you can just learn everything without ever logging in, just another way for lazy gamers to have an excuse for not knowing how to do things themselves.

Please Refer to Doom Cat with all conspiracies & evil corporation complaints. He'll give you the simple explination of..WE"RE ALL DOOMED!

Have been playing WoW since Beta and this has to be the lamest set of  WoW maps I have EVER seen.  Total waste of time even looking at one of them.  They have less information than any other online WoW mapset.

You don't have to use it, or Thottbot, if you don't like the way it affects your experience.  But, who cares if other people do?  That said, personally I'm glad I explored the maps myself - that's part of the fun.  I agree that Thottbot changes the game from thinking and adventure to more of a powerlevelling exercise - but, I still use it when I'm stuck, and love it.

Only realy of use to some one researching the game who is thinking of playing but an establshed player will get very little from them.

On the other hand I never knew there were 5 un-used zones in azeroth. wonder what blizz will do with them?

I guess to elaborate on my previous post, this particular Atlas is worthless.  It doesn't show anything useful to anyone that's been playing this game.  Seems Blizzard could have put more effort into something else besides this.  Honestly, the money they spent to make this flash presentation should've been placed somewhere else.  Why with Thottbot and Cartographer Mod, this Atlas is a waste of time and resources.  I cannot wait til Age of Conan comes out.  Bye Bye World of Warcraft.

About 3-6 months after Age of Conan comes out, you are going to start seeing Blizzard consolidating their server list.  LOL

I hope you've played it... AoC is gonna be a big old flop, as much as i wished otherwise.

I just hope WAR is better...

I think its great that Blizzard are continually trying to give something back for all the money they've raked in. Just providing an alternative is a great thing.

WoW, instead of making this game extreamly easy... should they be making it more challenging?

i liked the older days better when everyone was level 60 and things were a bit harder ....instead of giving you everything for free...

i have an idea blizz should put an arrow above your characters head and just tell you were to go.

sorry i just like games with some challenge and a reward at the end =D

I doubt very much that Blizzard will make WoW "more" challenging.  After all they made raids smaller in TBC to allow more people to be able TO raid.  Smaller guilds that couldn't support a 40-man raid can more easier manage 25-man.  Blizzard has already said that they have no plans on going back to 40-man raiding.

WoW got its success from it being so easy to jump into.  They are not about to "harden" it up and risk losing a sizable number of subscribers.
